Ottawa The Story! On the wings of a storm |

The plane eventually began to descend and finally we saw land.. we were so excited we smiled! ( well we are British ).
The buildings had so much space around them! Then we saw the airport.. though at that point someone remarked " THAT'S not an airport that's a GOLFCOURSE! Look at all the green around it!! "
Black clouds had gathered all around us and with a sudden flash of lightning we flew in to land on the wings of a storm. It was raining very heavily so they wouldn't unload the aircraft
We waited.. and we smiled.. we smiled.. and we waited
The smiles slipped.. we waited.. and we grimaced.. we grimaced and we waited.. the grimaces became gritted teeth
Gnashing and trying to remain pleasant we waited some more
The airport staff gestured to each other.. we gestured amongst ourselves
The airport staff smiled warily at us.. we smiled at them with gritted teeth, bared and gnashing
They gestured to each other again.. we gestured amongst ourselves and AT them.. a low rumbling of discontent began to surface
Then , suddenly, an announcement In a cheery voice we were told we could begin to pick up our baggage in 15 minutes time.
A faint cheer was heard.. well.. if you can call " Hoobluddyray" a cheer.. and we began to smile slightly once again.. the storm was over
Leaping swiftly through customs I emerged, blinking, into a brightly lit hall. There were Karen and Nadine waiting for me - there was no way I could miss them - though I tried ever so hard!.
My case was taken from me and a Timmie's was thrust into my hand with the instruction to " ENJOY"..I wondered what would happen if I didn't enjoy it - but thought I wouldn't ask! We took the coffee to the car.. and THAT was when I had my first experience of Karen's driving
You know, flying 6000 miles isn't THAT big a deal after all.. compared with SOME things ; )
