Is this jetlag or what? I seem to be sleeping about 18 hours a day, which is very not-me; going to bed from 3 in the afternoon till 9pm for the last 2 days in a row - having already slept till lunch.
As a result, bugger all new in my life except 3 insect bites clustered around one knuckle in a decorative manner. Maybe the next time someone offers to paint my nails ($10), I'll offer them the latest thing in london fashion - the Bite.
Sales are non-stop here - walking anywhere, you're constantly offered tshirts, tattoos, motorbikes&cars to rent, shoes, tours, ornaments, etc etc - but mostly not too persistent. Even the blokes that call after you 'hey darlin - wanna talk? wanna fucky-fuck?' (do they get any takers on that approach?) just wait for the next passers by after the traditional london chilly-look-through. No aggro; no hassle.
Went to the Hula Bar last night, Bali's one and only gay bar, with live drag cabaret. A disconcerting dance version of Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer started things with a swing: the universal mixture of torch songs and pop (yes, of course they did "I will survive". Twice.) were mimed to by dainty boys in fairly gorgeous costumes (Not quite Priscilla, mind you). Prices are way cheap here. The only thing which costs nearly as much as London is web access - about a pound an hour. My (basic) hotel room is 2 quid a night; beers about 30p; a good meal and drink in a restaurant cost about a pound. And this is the tourist centre, with tourist prices
