MY 1970 CHEVELLE

Well, I finally got around to updating my webpage.  I had to add a little extra to it because so much has changed on my car since I first created this page. I'll try to get more pictures on here eventually since the one above is when I first bought the car.

Here's the previous info (just of buying the car):
(All work done by yours truely.)

    • B&M Tork Master 2400 Stall
    • B&M MegaShifter

    • Street tires

Okay, So I was on a budget that time around. Well, that wasn't enough power so I pulled the motor and with the help of a friend the motor was rebuilt. I spared no expense this time around. (I've got the bills to prove it.)

This is what happened next (built May of 2000):

    Engine: ( 450hp / 450ft/lb estimated)
    • 4 bolt 350 bored .060 over
    • domed hypereutectic pistons 11.3:1*
    • Total-Seal gapless rings*

    • Completely balanced*
    • CompCam X-treme Energy 274
    • Pete Jackson gear drive
    • World Product Sportsman II heads 2.02/1.60 port-matched to intake*
    • Aluminum Roller Rockers
    • Victor Jr. Air Gap intake*
    • 600 Edelbrock (doesn't like 750cfm)*
    • Shift point = 7,000rpm*
    Driveline:
    • The Stock TH350 lasted about 2 weekends before shelling out under the extra hp.
    • Rebuilt tranny.
    • 3200 Stall w/ balloon plates *
    • B&M MegaShifter
    • M/E Custom 9" Ford w/ 3.50 posi*
    • 15" CenterLine Auto Drags
    • 26.5X10 DOT Cheater Slicks*

Well, that seemed to put a lot more pep in her step but still wasn't quite enough. So I added a 100hp shot of nitrous to her. Okay, I was now addicted. I couldn't let it stop there. My buddy found a 1987 Monte Carlo SS down in Dallas, TX that had a fresh 463 in it. I went down in August of 2000 and bought the car and hauled it back. So with one last time at the track and less than 1,000 miles on the small block, I tried to get her into the 12's. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. The best time with the small block was 13.001. So close but it was time to go. The next day the small block was pulled out and placed on the stand and the 463 was set in it's place.

This is the current specs as of 6 June, 2002:

    Engine:
    • 4 bolt 454 bored .040 over
    • forged pistons 10.25:1
    • Balanced steel crank
    • CompCam 280 Magnum
    • 850 Holley Double Pumper
    • Aluminum Roller Rockers
    • Mallory Unilite Comp 9000
    • Mallory ProMaster coil
    • MSD 6TN

    Driveline:
    • Same TH350
    • 3200 Stall w/ balloon plates
    • B&M MegaShifter
    • M/E Custom 9" Ford w/ 3.89 posi *
    • 15" CenterLine Auto Drags
    • 28.5X10.5 Pheonix Slicks (needed more traction)*

The car went 12.22@108mph all motor with the 3.50 gears and 11.22@118mph with a 150hp nitrous shot. With the 3.89 gears and a little weight shifting around the car and the addition of the MSD box, she has now gone a 12.13@110mph all motor. I have yet to run the nitrous but will keep you posted. I'm shooting for some 10's this year. I just have to get the cage that is sitting in my garage installed. Not too bad considering she was running 18's when I bought her.
