I believe this is the church in what we called the "Catholic Ville".  If you go back to the map and find Hill 22 and follow the fishhook shaped road back to the main road and turn left the Catholic Ville would be a mile or so.
One Sunday we had a patrol that took us to ths church.  Sgt. Tom Ferguson and I sat in the shade of the trees on the right and watched the people.  There were two young girls, perhaps 16,  they were just as cute as they could be all dressed up in their Sunday finery.  And like many young girls they were there, "to see and be seen," as Tom put it.

When I saw this it seemed be familiar.  Maybe I'm just fooling myself (it has been a while you know) but I think we sat up an ambush on this hill on July 4th.  Just after dark the whole peremeter of Da Nang lit up with thousands of pop-ups.  It went on for several minutes.

Does anyone else remember this?

There were lots of pagodas like the one on the left.  Perhaps it is some sort of burial ground.

The little store on the right is typical of a small shop you would see in just about any village.  There were several like this, as I remember it anyway, along the road that ran between Cobb Bridge and Hotel Battery.  One bar/store even had a fooseball table.
