If you want something other than the sterile resume’ description of who I am, you’ve come to the right place.
I’m a lead artist with Red Storm Entertainment, Inc. in Morrisville, NC. In addition to managing the "art side" of our current project, I design levels, create concept art, textures, 3D environments and objects, for computer games. 3D Studio MAX and Photoshop are my main tools.
In my past job, I worked for a company called LSI, Inc., that makes interactive computer-based training for several US Armed Forces' weapon systems. Working in DOS and Windows NT, I produced the majority of my graphics with 3D Studio R4 and Adobe Photoshop 4. I also used Autodesk Animator Pro and Corel Draw. While at LSI, I aquired and maintained a classified security clearance, helped train fellow employees in the above mentioned programs and have created and maintained a library of 3D scenery, military vehicles and weapons built in-house.
I have a degree in art design from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. My skills in traditional drawing/sketching/painting, texture creation and my ability to develop ideas are displayed here on this website. I have an eye for detail and enjoy "weathering" both my plastic and computer models when necessary to give them a more realistic appearance.
This site should help familiarize you with my levels of creativity, technical understanding , diversity of media and eye for detail. Generally I take pride in having my personal work be as original as possible. Usually, I’ll model mundane scene elements myself, rather than rely on "clip art". If an element appears here on my page that is not my own creation, I always try to point this out (for example, the scanned photos used in the "Flying Cars" images in the "2D Art" section).
On a personal note, my interests outside of computer graphics include: All kinds of movies, model building, drawing, painting, special effects, movie soundtracks, travel, computer games, conceptual artwork, military (especially aviation) artwork and history, soccer, snow skiing and snorkeling. I was raised in Wilmington, North Carolina, have a Dad there, a Mom in Alexandria, Virginia, and a great wife right here in Morrisville!
This site was created to get a job in the gaming industry. Since accomplishing that, the site has changed little. I hope you enjoy it anyway and look forward to your comments and suggestions.
Sincerely,
Travis Getz
