MINUTES
THE RETIRED ENLISTED ASSICIATION
COWTOWN CHAPTER 87
Jun 12, 2004

1. President Dempsey called the meeting to order at 1000.

2. Reports:
A. The previous minutes were read by the secretary and accepted.
B. The Treasurer reported income from cooking ($67.00) and our chapter rebate ($150.00), for a balance in checking of $2,651.05.
C. Correspondence: We received a thank you card from Evelyn Arnold for the flowers we sent to her father’s funeral, and a new listing for the National Board of Directors- Lonnie now being National’s Chaplain.
D. Membership: no report.
E. Legislative: Gene passed out the Galloway article from the Star-Telegram and gave a brief update.
F. Our Chaplain reported that member Chuck Sprague has passed away, and informed us of his own upcoming surgery Aug. 26th.

3. Old Business:
A. The handout cards for the convention are on hand; Lonnie/Cindy owe Jack for them and Lonnie will make up stickers that we can place on the outsides.
B. The convention credentials have been sent in to National with our delegates being: Jack, Chuck, Jim, Gene and Cindy. We will carry a proxy for the empty place.

4. New Business:
A. Chuck brought up that we need to promote TREA more here at the VFW post; to that end Jack will make up a flyer to use when we cook, and Cindy will bring more Mission Statement cards and brochures for display.
B. Lonnie will be in Oklahoma City June 26th to charter Chapter 125; the Nat’l President and Nat’l Legislative Director will be in attendance also.
C. June 3rd Lonnie was made military liaison the Military Family Foundation, a support group for families that have members serving in Iraq and the Middle East.

5. Good of the Order:
A. Jack discussed a newspaper column that talked about how the government gives with one hand while it takes away with the other hand, and Lonnie made the point that we need to get back to our grassroots campaign efforts as the struggle is ongoing.

6. President Jack Dempsey adjourned the meeting at 1053.
