Dave "Rat" Ewen caught offguard during rehearsals for "Puddly Wood" his rock musical about "some elves who live in a wood..". Ewen was to play the homicidal mechanic who takes a fancy to one of the elves. "Macpherson never understood how subversive it was." he later complained.

"Namby-pamby nonsense. He's up his own arse" said Macpherson at the time.
