about the photographer...

     Biographical Information;

Treena Biddington was born in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada where she lived until she graduated from Moncton High in 1987.  She moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia where she attended the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design and received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in December 1991.  Soon after she pursued a career in photography. Treena worked at a local photography store for 12 years in the areas of custom film and print development. During this time she shot weddings special events and retail products. Currently, Treena has remained focused on traditional photography as a way of expression. Treena’s passion to keep the traditional photographic processes alive is seen through her theme of dead trees and roots as well as the things often found while hiking. Living in Nova Scotia, she was drawn to the sea swept shores and photographed the brutality suffered by the spruce trees that grew along the Atlantic Ocean’s coast line and their remenance often felled by the rough waves or by the human hand. Being among trees offers her a place of peace, play and the existence of something greater.

Many of Treena's photographs featured on this website were shot while she was living in Shakopee, Minnesota.  She spent much of her time on the endless trails that Minneapolis and surrounding areas had to offer.  Treena found that area of country to be filled with incredible, lush trees but she was drawn to the dead trees mostly!

Now that she and her husband are back in Nova Scotia, she intends to be spending a lot of time near the ocean and exploring the trees that Hurricane Juan left in his wake.
