My preganancy with her was rough. When I was 5 months pregnant with her they told me she had a 2 vessel umbilical cord. Most people don't know what this means but it is actually more common than you think. A normal baby has 1 vein and 2 arteries in the umbilical cord. Obviously if the vein wasn't there the baby wouldn't be there. There is one artery to bring nutrients in and one artery to take waste out. She only had one artery to perform both of these functions. The complications that can occur with this are down syndrome, kidney failure, heart failure, and the baby being still born. Luckily none of these things happened to her. But my whole pregnancy I had to worry about that. Plus I was sick constantly and I could hardly move. I was put on bed rest.
My mother came up to visit me on September 8, 2000. It was the day after my father's 1 year death anniversary and she didn't want to be alone and she wanted to be there for Angelique's birth. I remember on September 11th we recieved a call from one of our friends from Memphis asking if we were ok and if my husband was ok. We didn't know the towers had been hit by airplanes at the time so we thought our friend was crazy. She then told us what happened. My mom went frantic and had to go get gas and all sorts of supplies. I lived on post at the time and everything was closed so we had to go off post. Little did we know that we were going to be stuck in traffic for 9 hours with my 20 month old in the back seat trying to get on post. We were terrified I was going to go into labor as my due date was 3 days away. My son was extremely well behaved the whole time until he got hungry. I couldn't believe how curtious people were being. Luckily I didn't go into labor.
I started having to go for an AFI twice a week at the beginning of September. When I was a a week overdue my midwife told me to take some castor oil at 6 and at 8 in the morning before my appointment on the 21st. She told me hat my contractions would start and I would have that baby in no time. Well, I did as she said and my contraction didn't start. I just ended up being sick for the rest of the day. I went and had my AFI. My doctor told me that I was no where near having contractions and when my water broke to have a bag near by. I had tons of amniotic fluid. She told me to send my mother home and have her some back on the 28th because they were going to enduce me then. Well my mother spent the rest of the day with me and went home that evening at 6. My husband and I decided to go eat at AppleBee's that night. The whole time I was at AppleBee's my stomach kept cramping up. My husband kept asking me if I was ok and I told him yes. I just thought it was Braxton Hicks contractions. i was so mad. I had been craving a steak dinner for a while and now that it was sitting right in front of me I couldn't enjoy it. AS we where walking to the car my stomach dropped all of a sudden. My husband got worried and I just figured the baby had finally dropped. I mean after all I was dilated to a three. It was hard for me to walk. I finally made it to the car. I put my hand on the door to bend down and the nest thing I knew my water broke all over the car. My husband wasn't to thrilled about that. But he was excited the baby was coming. He drove our son to our friend Phillip's house because he agreed to watch him when I went into labor. Allan didn't evne bother taking Christian out of his carseat, he just unhooked the whole thing and gave Christian to Phillip like that. I was upset because I didn't get to hug Christian good bye. I yelled about it the whole way to the hospital. My husband said he wanted to get me there because I have really fast labors and he was afraid an infection would set in. By the time I got to the hospital I couldn't feel the water flowing anymore so started thinking I went to the bathroom on myself. I was horrifies that was the case. But as soon as I got out of the car the flow started right up. The doctors didn't believe us when we said my water broke and left me in an observation room for an hour. The doctor finally came to check me and got a big surprise. My water had broken but I wasn't having contractions. She then put me in a labor room. My contractions still hadn't started by 9 o'clock so they gave me Potocin. By 11 o'clock my contractions were still 5 minutes apart but very strong. My mother had made it back by then. She had never actually seen a labor or even felt one as she was knocked out with all five of us. She kept asking my husband if it was supposed to hurt this much. He kept telling her, yes Pat. At 12 o'clock tey gave me a sedal mixture to knock me out. I didn't think that I would be having the baby in an hour and a half. So I had waited on the epideral. At 12;30 the sedal mixture started wearing off and I was waking up with my contractions. At one o'clock I started saying I had to push. No one believed me as my contractions were still five minutes apart and I had just been talking about I needed to go home to ride my bike. After waking up for times screaming I needed to push and no one believing me I said,"F it" and hit the nurses call button before I passed out. I mean heck I was trying my best to keep from pushing. I had an internal monitor in and I didn'twant it ramming into my baby's head. The finally came and checked me and I was right i was ready to have the baby. But when i finally got into the deliver room I didn't have to push anymore. And I didn't know what was going on. DO NOT TAKE SEDAL!!!! The doctor told me to push whenever I felt like it. So I did. Two pushes later Angelique Alyana was born into this world. She was born at 1:26 a.m. She weighed 7 lbs. 3 oz.(which was a relief to me because the estimated her being ten pounds. She was 19 3/4 inches long. With a head full of blonde hair. And the darkest blue eyes I have ever seen. I didn't get to hold her right after because she was blue when she came out. So they had to fix that and put her under a light for two hours. But my husband didn't let her out of his sight. I couldn't believe I had two beautiful children. God gave me just what I asked for. A boy and a girl. I would have rather it been twins so I could have gotten it done and over with but hey atleast I got a boy and a girl.
Angelique is now 14 months old and into everything. She is so beautiful. She has the curliest blonde hair and the prettiest smile. She gives kisses to everybody. She is only 20 lbs. and 13 oz. And she is only 27 inches long. She will be short like me the poor baby. She looks alot like may father. And I am thankful for that. I just wish she could have known him. Christian didn't know him long but he still remembers him. I just wish she had had that pleasure. But she has that same twinkle in her eyes that daddy did. Sometimes I swear that she is him reincarnated.
We named her Angelique because swe believe she was the last present from my father. He wanted Christian to be a girl really bad since none of his little girls had girls. He loved Christian to death though. His nickname for him was CAW. Christian Allan Wilson! SO when i became pregnant with Angelique 3 months after my father's death and the fact that he wanted me to have a girl we knew it was from him. We decided on the name Angel but my mother changed it to Angelique since my father was cajun. We still call her Angel though. And that is what she is. A little Angel given to us by both my father and GOD.
Working on loading pictures of her but they won't load right so it could be a while.
