-
Lohgad – This is famous for its fortification and Vinchu-kaata

Visapur fort – Huge fort standing ahead lohgad famous for its climb and
walls
-

-
Reach Lonavla station by Indrayani express. There is a
local train connected to it, which leaves in 5 minutes of
arrival of Indrayani. Try to catch that train towards Pune
and get down at MaLavli station next to Lonavla.
-
If you miss the train, then go to Lanavla ST stand, where
you will get six seaters to MaLavli. If you are lucky then
he will drop at MaLavli station. But generally, they drop
you at entrance of Malavli village. Walk to MaLavli
station from there (will take ½ an hour.) or do an auto
rickshaw.
-
After reaching MaLavli station, cross the express highway
parallel to it. This site is great for a small
photo-session. After crossing express highway walk
parallel to it towards Karjat side.
-
You will reach Bhaje (base of the fort) village in 30
minutes walk. Bhaje Leni are visible from the village. We
would suggest to skip this and first visit Lohgad, then
Vispur and then Bhaje Leni if you still have energy.
-
Start for Lohgad and you will reach the base of the ‘V’
shape formed by Lohgad and Vispur forts. (1 and ½ hour)
This is called LohgadWadi. There are houses and school
here. You can stay here for night or have Pohe or Bhaji.
Water and food is available here.
-
Take right to visit Lohgad. Left for Vispur
-
The way to fort of visapur is not easily visible. Ask some
natives to find the way to Visapur fort.

|
-
The way to MaLavli and Lohgad fort has many waterfalls
worth a dip.
-
Five layers of fortification and three huge door entrances
of Lohgad. The innermost fortification is 800 years old
built by Chalukya Emperors. The outermost is 350 years old
renovated by Shivaji Maharaj.
-
Vinchoo-kaata (वींचूकाटा) – This one is the peak
attraction of Lohgad. A small narrow arm of the fort used
mainly as observation post. Be careful while getting on to
it. The wind blows too fast here. And it is bit slippery
in monsoon. But being here is an experience.
-
Bhaje Leni as explained earlier
-
Visapur fort has a tricky and enjoyable climb. This is
largere than Lohgad and primarily built to protect Lohgad.
Its wall and fortification is still intact

|
Reach village MaLavli. Take a
train to Lonavla. Get an asiad or ST bus to your respective
location. The trains coming from Pune are much crowded to
opt for that option. |
