TREMORS 2 - AFTERSHOCKS
What it says on the back of the video box...

They're back! The giant underground creatures that terrorised a desert town in
Tremors are now plowing their way through Mexican oil fields, gobbling up everything and everyone around - and only one man can stop them! In the style of it predecessor, this comedy sci-fi creature feature reunites Fred Ward as down on his luck Earl Bassett and Michael Gross as gung-ho survivalist Burt Gummer, two desert desperados who take on the task of destroying the monsters. Partnered with them is Christopher Gartin, a young guy in need of kicks, cash and a career change, and Helen Shaver, a sexy and intrepid scientist who's seen it all... until now. Together they devise an ingenious plan for tracking and killing the creatures that is filled with high-speed action and plenty of laughs - until the predators wise-up.

It's a tongue-in-cheek thriller from the creative team that brought you the original
Tremors, with new, outrageous creature effects from Jurrasic Park's Phill Tippett and Jumanji's Alec Gillis and Tom Woodruff, Jr.

PART OF ORIGINAL TREMORS 2 SCRIPT FOUND!

In 1993, Tremors 2 was in development as a $17 million theatre releasemovie to be filmed in Australia. With this high budget, the shrieker body count was going to number in the hundreds, and assumption was that Reba McEntire would want to come back to reprise her role as Heather Gummer. S.S. Wilson had always been a fan of primitive weapons and the concept of raiding a collection of muzzle-loading single shot was included in a May 1993 draft of the Tremors 2 script. Unfortunately, major budget cut backs associsted with the video release eventually made the filming of this scene completely impractical, and so it was written out of the script along with a couple of hundred extra stunt Shriekers that Burt would have got to blast!

In this draft, the gun collection belonged to Leroy, the oil worker who along with Pedro were consumed rather early on in the film. When the Shriekers were forming a stack to get up on the water tower, Kate (Helen Shaver) remembers that Leroy had a large collection of guns.

Here are several pages from this draft:

INT. LEROYS TRAILER - DAY
Bang. Burt smashes the day in.

WIDEN as they enter with Kathy. She proudly gestures to the opposite wall. Indeed, the wall is covered in guns but Burt and Heather stare in shock.

BURT
Uh, these are all muzzle-loaders.

KATHY
What loaders?

HEATHER
Old timey guns. Black powder, single shot jobs.

KATHY
Well I didn't know. Guns are guns.

BURT
(fighting to stay calm)
All right. All right. Now lets think here.

(Cut to scene of Val and Earl at the half finished building talking about using the door as a sheild to get past the Shriekers)

INT. LEROYS TRAILER - DAY

Kathy watched intently as Burt and Heather feverishly load Kentucky squirrel riffles, ram-rodding patches balls down the long barrels.

EXT. UNFINISHED BUILDING DAY
The door shuffles along. Val and Earl have their odd movement down to a rhythm and they managed to get quite a distance from the creatures. Earl looks over his shoulder.

EARL
Take it Right.

VAL
Moving right.

They start moving off at an angle.

A FOOD SCREAM comes from behind. They look back, startled.

They have been spotted by a lone creature.

In the distance, in a clod of dust, the rest of the creatures come running.

VAL
Sh*@.

EARL
Stampede.

Val lets the door drop and they take off.

VAL
HEATHER!

EARL
BURT!

The men run desperately, but the single creature that spotted them is gaining, gaping mouth coming closer and closer to Vals heels.

Then, out of nowhere, we hear a distant, rolling BOOOOM!

The creature drops flat on its face, skidding to a stop in the dust, dead.

Still running, startled Val and Earl glance back at the dead creature, then look off to--

EXT. HILLSIDE BURT AND HEATHER
Standing heroically on top of a rise. A big puff of white smoke drifts away from Burt as he lowers a sleek Kentucky long-rifle with satisfaction.

BURT
Hundred and fifty yards!

HEATHER
This way, guys! Pour it on!

ANGLE VAL AND EARL
As Shriekers change directions and run toward Burt and Heather.

ANGLE THE REST OF THE CREATURES
Still 200 yards away, they swerve, charging up the hill after the guys.

EXT. HILLSIDE BURT AND HEATHER
Heather raises a double-barreled muzzle-loader and fires.

Now Kathy struggles up the rise behind them. She is pushing a wheelbarrow piled high with more muzzle-loaders! She hands fresh ones to Burt and Heather.

Exhausted Val and Earl stumble into frame.

VAL
(re: the weird guns)
What the hell are these?

BURT
Don't ask. Grab a weapon.

HEATHER
Make every shot count.

And like Civil War soldiers, they form ranks for volley fire - - firing, grabbing new weapons from Kathy - - firing again.

Thick gun smoke swirls around them. They fall back and take cover behind a line of oil drums and KEEP FIRING. Everyone is sweating, faces smudged with black powder.

Kathy frantically reloads from them, talking to herself:

KATHY
Powder, patch, ball, cap,

In the distance, several creatures fall with each volley. But more keep coming, getting closer and closer.

Burt winds up the spring on a bizzare-looking ornate German wheel-lock and fires!

Val and Earl are down to six-barreled pepperbox handguns.

Heather cranks the loading ratchet on a 17th. century crossbow and lets fly a bolt.

Val turns to grab a new weapon. The wheelbarrow is empty! Kathy shrugs.

KATHY
That is it!

Burt and Heather are frantically trying to reload the long guns, ramming powder charges down the muzzles.

Creatures are almost on top of the. No time to finisg loading, Burt and Heather fire the ramrods and two creatures are knocked backwards, skewered by the long metal rods.

But there are still six more creatures coming! The humans frantically try to reload but there is no time.

BURT
Get down! Duck down!

They all do - - but Burt runs out into the open! He's loading a rifle as he goes.

BURT
Come on! Come and get me you bastards!

The creatures veer off and follow him. Heather is horrified.

(The rest of the scene then continues on as is seen in the film. Burt continues on into the warehouse trapping the shriekers, only to discover that the warehouse is full of food.)

A big thanks must go out to all at Stampede Entertainment for allowing is to post this! Thanks guys!
