Inside the Observatory

The observatory bulding was better furnished than we had expected. The living quarters were set up almost like a house, with a large kitchen and pantry, a long dining table, and a living room with a TV and sofas. On the next level up was the observatory proper. The observatory was one big room filled with high-tech computers and equipment. Several large windows offered a breathtaking panoramic view of the lesser peaks of the Presidential Range. In the next room was the Mount Washington Museum, with several interesting exhibits dealing with the Mountain's weather, wildlife, and history. Also on display was the anemometer that recorded the 231 mph wind record in 1931.
