They said it couldn't be done. One Life to Live's Todd (previously played by Roger Howarth) could not be recast. But with an appealing actor and the right pacing, OLTL may just have done it.
The writers unfolded the reveal very slowly, first letting Walker develop as a new character before dropping hints that he could be Todd. By the time "Walker" finally let Starr in on his secret, the audience already suspected the truth, but still wanted to hear it from the horse's mouth. The scene was one of those great (and, these days, rare) must-see moments.
Both Trevor St. John (Walker/Todd) and Kristen Alderson (Starr) turned in wonderful, poignant moments that lived up to expectations. St. John also deserves kudos for his work over the last two months, during which he slowly took on just enough of Todd's mannerisms to be believable, yet brought new facets to the character that are helping with the transition.
Now that Todd seems sincere about changing, we actually believe him: With a new look on the outside, it's easier to believe that Todd could be a new Man(ning) on the inside, too.
