Day 0 – April 6 Wednesday

Today was a normal day for every one (involved in the campaign) with in their usual surroundings and environment.  In the town known as Tyrisio (the town of the god Tyr) Kiara Filora spoke with the High Priest about going on a quest for the Chalice of Tyr.  They spoke more on the subject and the High Priest finally decided that she could try to acquire the Chalice of Tyr.  Kiara’s reason was simple, honest, and noble.  Her father was dieing, there was no cure for his illness, every thing was tried, and failed, the Chalice of Tyr is said to have the power to cure any disease.  After this meeting, the High Council put together a group to go with her and help Kiara on her holy quest.  The High Council picked Mannon Narius to start, an outsider to the town and a good friend of mine, and then they picked Magellan Goldfinch, another outsider who coincidently was a mapmaker.  Now both of these men were picked for there previous experience in the out side world, and to guard and guide Kiara with there out side world knowledge and “powers” (arcane spells), the Councils decision was bases on “fight fire with fire.”  After he was informed, Mannon informed me with a magic item I gave him long ago, he told me what was going on and that he needed my help.  So Mannon asked the High Council if he could ask an old friend for help, he told them about me (not every thing about me, but most of it) and they approved, then I asked permission from my guild if I could go and help on this holy quest, they approved and I left immediately.  I wasn’t informed of any one else going.  I made preparations to leave, I will leave at dawn.

Day 1 – April 7 Thursday

Dwork Tyrson was blamed for a minor accident at the lumber mill (no one was hurt).  The High Priest summons Fillpot Tyrson to join the quest, he was asked because he was on the High Council so they wanted to have some one of that ability/caliber to go along, Dwork is his brother, there parents were killed by poison so Fillpot took up cooking and doesn’t eat any one else’s cooking, Dwork is the only other family that Fillpot has, so Fillpot asked if he could take his brother along and they agreed.  Much later Dwork got into a fight at a tavern were Lornah Mylon (a good friend to Jei-pa Filora) worked, she was then asked to stop working there. I left home and head for the town of Tyrisio.  I wonder what lies ahead on the road in front of me.  I have trained well and I hope my skills are well found.  I will find a high priest by the name of Brother Braemon to collect information of Mannon and Kiara, as to which direction they went, and if they have even left yet.  I must remember my morning exercises and creed, and my evening duties.  My masters gave me all the preparation that I could need, I look forward to seeing Mannon again, we have some catching up to do.  Just before going to sleep I did my sword exercises and cleaning and sharpening maintenance on m sword with the 5 cantrips that I was taut to use to do so, Clean, Sharpen, Dampen, Polish, and Shine.  After my sword care I studied my spells to have them fresh on my mind for tomorrow.

Day 2 – April 8 Friday

Quite day, I’m alone and I almost feel like I have been exiled, I miss Talanya already; her presence fills my mind all day long.  I hope that tomorrow will be better, and maybe my ration will taste better in the future.  Kiara, Fillpot, Dwork, Mannon, and Magellan were all summoned to the High Priest office, there they talked with Brother Braemon, they were allowed and able to ask him any questions that they needed concerning this quest.  They all left town around the after noon.  Kiara’s bed ridden father soon found out what was going on and sent Jei-pa to go get her, Lornah saw Jei-pa leaving and asked what was happening, he told her and they both left together so they would have better odds of survival.  I did my sword exercises/maintenance with the 5 cantrips and studied my spells before going to sleep.

Day 3 – April 9 Saturday

Well my ration didn’t taste any better than yesterday.  I think I’ll try using some cantrips to liven them up a little.  I’ll try hunting for some other food tomorrow.  I just realized one thing that was missing, sword sounds, forging, fighting, I haven’t heard any sword sounds in two days, how odd.  I wonder If Mealion came this way, I wonder how Talanya is doing.  Every one was traveling towards their goal.  I did my sword exercises/maintenance and spell studying before going to sleep.

Day 4 – April 10 Sunday (Day 1 of the campaign)

People in Tyrisio left town, got a mile or so past the blessed border and it started raining, there goes the hunting for food idea (sigh), good old dependable rations again, but they do taste better with some of the cantrips I know.  I made camp near a small clearing, the stars look beautiful tonight, reminds me of Talanya, she is always with me even when she’s not around me.  I did my sword exercises/maintenance and spell studying before going to sleep, It’s nice to have some form of home with me, even if its only a sword and book.

Day 5 – April 11 Monday

Morning came, it’s still raining, this means there is still no hunting for better food.  I wonder which way Mannon and Kiara went, and how long it will take me to catch up to them.  I wonder how soon I can return to town to see my family and Talanya again.  The rest of the group going to my town (Lindorin), got into a fight with some goblins (6 or 7), Fillpot’s ancient family mace broke, and Dwork broke his axe handle as well, one of the goblins got to the cart were Kiara was waiting for every one.  She thought that the battle was “over there” and that she was safe here.  The goblin was on top of the cart, she summoned some magical stones and thru them at him, that chased him away (I found out that she was left alone later and I wasn’t happy about it, but was glad that she was ok).  This fight is when they met Gunther (the minotaur), they saved him from the goblins, so he decided to stay with the party until he thought his debt was repaid.  The fight started with the goblins around a large thing, then they got a better look and saw that it was a minotaur tied to the ground and knocked out (don’t ask me how 6 or 7 goblins can do that to Gunther, cause I don’t know).  Chip kept whining, “Waaake me up and set me freeee”.  I did my sword exercises/maintenance and spell studying before going to sleep.

Day 6 – April 12 Tuesday

Morning came quickly, its still raining; soon along the road I met Mannon, Kiara, and four others.  Two dwarves (Fillpot and Dwork), a human (Magellan), and a minotaur (Gunther).  This was the first time that I have seen a dwarf taller than me (Dwork is 5’10”, I’m 5’9”).  There are bringing along a cart with them, a good size cart at that.  Its loaded with food from Tyrisio (hmm, I wonder if there packing ration type stuff like my self or if they actually have good food on them), and some other misc. equipment was in/on the cart.  It wasn’t until then that I remembered that people from Tyrisio can only eat food from there since it has been blessed by there god Try, they are not allowed to eat any food from other places, unless they bless it, so maybe I won’t be eating good food after all.  Later in the day Dwork asked if I could fix his axe from a fight that he got into, I said yes and got to work, I failed twice, dam wood, I like metals better.  The smaller dwarf finally fixed it himself, o well, it did feel good working on a weapon again.  During down time Mannon and I caught up and updated our spells, I doubled my selection, and I got Find Familiar from it as well.  Night came, the party discussed a plan for keeping watch at night, Dining on rations again tonight.  I did my sword practices/maintenance, studied my spells and thought of Talanya while trying to fall asleep.

Day 7 – April 13 Wednesday

The rain stopped this morning, I can go hunting now and get a hold of some real food.  Two more humans  (Jei-pa and Lornah) showed up to join the party today, Jei-pa is Kiara’s brother.  This is turning into an interesting group, big to, the smaller dwarf is mad about “feeding the whole damn world” or something to that effect.  We all made camp and Jei-pa and Kiara had a talk.  Jei-pa finally concluded that he was sent to bring Kiara back home, she wouldn’t go until she had the Chalice of Tyr, so Jei-pa figured the quickest way to get her to go home was help her find the Chalice of Tyr, Lornah was going to stay with the few friends that she now had.  I wonder how the other mage would feel about trading spells as Mannon and I did, hmmm, I’ll ask later.

End of Session 1

We stopped and set camp, and heard some howling in the distance.  We decided that a few of us would go and check it out, I thought that if it was wolves, and they were near by, than they are a continual threat and must be eliminated.  It was Dwork, Gunther, and I, we were walking along and then we saw an elven figure a little in the distance.  It was Nash Kin-cayd, a town guard from my town, she has been following me, well it was to be expected that a town guardsmen would follow me.  She joined us in the search for the wolves, we soon found the wolves, worgs actually, 6 of them.  We charged at them, Nash stayed at a distance and picked off one of them with her bow and weakened another.  My performance was poor at best (went down to 0, stayed up though).  Now with Nash here I have two people to look after.  The day finished out, we made camp, took care of the wolves skins (pelts) and meat, Gunther ate two wolves by him self (a minotaur appetite is quite interesting), we all talked a little more and adapted to have Lornah and Jei-pa put into the watch system that I came up with (Look up top).  Ahhh, now we have meat (wolf) that I can eat instead of my rations, good meat to.  I studied my spells and did my sword practices/maintenance, and again thought of home and Talanya while trying to fall asleep, wondering how long it would be until I could see home again.

Day 8 – April 14 Thursday

Jei-pa’s hawk informed him of trouble down the road, he in turn informed us.  Nash and I scouted ahead, both of us were on the right side of the road, found a potential ambush, we almost “ran over” a cross bowmen in the trees, he was waiting for something, I looked to the road were the cross bowmen was looking, there was a man lying on the road, “looked” in bad shape, fake!  It was all an ambush plan.  Nash and I went back to the group and told them what was going on.  I had a plan to have the dwarves and a couple of others keep going down the road like normal, while the rest of us will surprise the guys in the trees and catch them off guard instead.  Nash went back to the place were the ambush was to take place, she was on the left side of the road this time, and found two more cross bowmen,

after a minute she was prepping her bow and made a noise, the second guy heard her and started looking around while the first guy wondered what he was doing.  I went back to were I could see the cross bowmen on the right side of the road, Mannon, Jei-pa, and Lornah came with me. Mannon cast sleep centered on the guy in the middle of the road.  The guy in the road, the second crossbow men on the left with Nash, and the cross bowmen in front of us all went limp (there were now asleep).  We quietly relieved the man in front of us of all his weapons, I handed the cross bow to Lornah who handed it to Mannon, Mannon kept the cross bow on the guy while Lornah took all of his other weapons.  The cart was getting closer, it was almost here.  Mean while on the left side of the road, Nash’s bow was ready and training on the first cross bowmen since the guy who was looking for her just fell asleep, the first guy was now looking around because something was going on,

the cart was almost to where we were and then the first cross bowmen ignoring why the second guy just watched the road.

One of them jumped out and said “Surrender, your money or your lives” (your GP or your HP), then he looked around, kicked the guy in the middle of the road (who was still asleep), looked around some more and then proceeded to say “O, wait, sorry, my mistake.”  Then I yelled “Surrender or die!”  At about this time we heard a small “twang” from Nash’s bow, Nash and the first cross bowmen just traded shots, he missed, she didn’t.  She then rushed the guy with her duel wielding scimitar style, he didn’t last much longer after that, but he did survive oddly enough.

She then fired , the first cross bowmen heard her and started looking around, she could see them, they couldn’t see her.

I then repeated myself but it didn’t work, you see when that one guy jumped out, he landed right in front of Gunther, and well, Gunther didn’t like this strange yelling man, so Gunther cleaved him in half…  vertically.  The cross bowmen that we first found and took all of his things, he woke up about now with only Lornah watching him.  As soon as he woke up he started checking his person for a weapon of some kind, he didn’t find one so he started fighting with Lornah.  Lornah has been in a scuff he and there before working in the bar and tavern business, she was able to handle this guy until Mannon hit him upside the head with his staff, that distracted him long enough for Lornah to get her flail out and clubbed him even harder, he stopped moving after that hit (mental note: don’t piss off Lornah, check).  Mean while back on the road, I saw a throwing knife skitter across the road, I could mostly tell were it came from and went to the source and found a guy with a sword and shield, I kicked his ass and dragged him back to the road were every one else was.  My performance was better (I went down to 2),  I fought the swordsmen (with a shield as well) on my own.  My plan to deal with the ambush worked well, I was the only one who was injured in any major way.  The little dwarf keeps questioning my military knowledge.  There were five men total, four in the trees (two cross bowmen on the left side, and one more cross bowmen on the right along with a swordsmen), and the one on the road, the second cross bowmen on the left side of the road and the guy on the road lived, we used them as slave labor in a way.  Shortly after defeating them, we came up with an system for deciding who gets certain items.  Any thing we find belongs to the party, whatever item(s) we find they are give to members who need it the most.  As the fighters need the best armor, the mages get potions, scrolls, and other things of the like.  You get the general idea, but every thing we find belongs to the party, when some one doesn’t need some thing any more, it is passed down to the next needy person, until no one needs it, then the item is sold and the money is split among the party (and there are 10 of us).  Then the money we get from items sold is that person’s money to do with as they please, no questions asked.  It started raining later in the day, at least there wasn’t any wind or lightning and thunder.  We started talking about having the prisoners doing slave labor of sorts and then started to argue about it, the two prisoners began laughing at us, I marched right over to them and smacked them upside the head and said, “Show respect to your superiors!”  They snapped to attention after that and we didn’t hear another sound from them.  I didn’t agree with having them do work for the reason of giving them the opportunity to escape or harm one of us or Kiara, that was unacceptable, but Fillpot insisted, I stared him down and said “If any thing goes wrong you will take full responsibility for the consequences.”  He agreed and then he and I watched the prisoners very closely.  We tried to interrogate the two prisoners after that, there was minimal success.  We finished the wolf meat that night, but since it stopped raining Nash and I can go hunting for food.  I did my sword exercises/maintenance and spell studying before going to sleep.

Day 9 – April 15 Friday

Midnight, the very beginning of the day, Jei-pa and Gunther’s watch.  Weird sounds filled the air, Jei-pa and Gunther woke every one up and we were all ready but couldn’t see any thing, three Jei-pa spells later (he only has 3 a day right now) we found that we were fighting four evil giant bats, I wasn’t able to do a dam thing, but the bats never had a chance to touch or hurt any one of us.  When I came back to the camp site I found the 2 bandits dead with a cross bow bolt in there chests, I asked Gunther (who we left to watch them) were the bolts came from, he pointed in a direction, I ran in the direction, Nash shortly caught up and helped in the search for who ever did it, we found nothing, I was pissed.  It wasn’t until later I realized, we didn’t search the trees and bushes for more people. Dammit.  Morning came and I started thinking to my self that we could use the giant bat meat to eat for the next couple of days but Jei-pa informed me that there was a good possibility that the meat could be poisonous due to its given nature, so Nash and I are stuck with our rations, still can’t hunt due to the rain.  At least I can use cantrips to give my rations a little more taste and desirability.  As we were getting ready to leave our camp site we found 6 giant beetles crawling on the cart, extremely annoying things, the stupid gas cloud attack of there’s was painful.  They were drawn to the wolf pelts as far as we cloud tell.  Finally, we threw the tarp off the cart and took care of the bug problem.  One of the bugs was closer to the front so it wasn’t thrown by the tarp, I started to take care of that one but it poisoned me, then jumped on me and attacked me.  My performance was poor again, I hate fighting animals, there is no structure, or mechanics to follow and thus counter or off set.  Jei-pa is proving to be a truly competent adventurer, and a friend, I would trust him with my life (went down to –2, he brought me back to full).

End of session 2, Des says that after today’s events and how much exp. I got, I should die faster… Uh, ok.

It stopped raining, finally…  Hunting season is now open.  We came across a broken bridge, a little scuffle occurred and then we moved down the road to find another way (the bridge was broken, it looked like a tree fell on it perpendicular to the water), I could see this as an ambush but there was no other way to go.  The second ambush happened, there were 4 cross bowmen and 3 swords men, Jei-pa cast a flurry of spells to take care of and make up for my absence, entangle was the first spell cast.  I was hit with a poison dart and knocked out for the entire encounter.  Again only two survived the encounter.  Bob and David are there names; we interrogated them for a good while, in the mean time I came up with a new scouting technique.  One of the guys we killed had an arm band on him, this was the same person I hear that absorbed Magellan’s magic missile during the fight, we checked him and found that the only thing he had on him other than his clothes was an arm band that was apparently giving him blisters due to something bout it.  The arm band was a weird kind of magic, when we did detect magic and looked at it, we detected magic on all other things that we looked at, except when we looked at the arm band we saw a small black void were the arm band was suppose to be.  Thought about that for the rest of the day and on to the night.  Nash and I did some hunting and got a couple of things to feed us that night, good thing we know how to hunt.  I did my sword exercises/maintenance and spell studying before going to sleep.

Day 10 – April 16 Saturday

Breakfast was good; well any thing would be good as long as it wasn’t my rations.  Fillpot let Nash and I eat some of there food and Fillpot is actually a good cook, Kiara was declared leader this morning, the decision was between her or me, she named me her right hand, I will be the first she goes to for advise or help (I hope), that makes me feel a little better, Although Tyr will have the final say, but that’s to be expected and fine with me.  We setup a new watch order.  Some dwarven merchants passed us this evening, Fillpot went and talked and drank with them, interesting what we have learned, I have a theory that these ambushes are not just random ambushes, I think some one has hired these men to ambush passing carts for some reason or another.  Thoughts of a lot of things filled my head while trying to fall asleep, home, family, Talanya, the guild, my mission, my family name, the prisoners, what we should do next, how I’m going to take care of this group…  I did my sword exercises/maintenance and spell studying before going to sleep.

Day 11 – April 17 Sunday

Morning came, I had my rations this morning, sigh, there not that bad any more, I got some flavoring ideas from Fillpot.  I guess I’m getting better with my cantrip flavoring or I’m just getting use to the rations in general (I hope not).  From what we have learned we have started traveling at night now, maybe we will catch up with the dwarves.  We passed the dwarves then made camp a few hours later.  Due to further questioning we have found out the plans that our captives had, “Varius” is the name of there employer, my theory of there plans was right, I wonder if they were meant to go after the dwarves cart instead of ours.  We heard sounds coming from the woods, we ran to find out what it was, no one was left to watch the prisoners, we found men and orcs fighting each other, several had already been killed and were on the ground dead both orcs and humans.  We got into a fight with 6 orcs and a another large creature (half-ogre), and the one human left standing, there were 3 but one died before we could even get in an attack to save him and the second one died by SOMETHING (I think by Gunther).  I killed one orc then moved in to deal with the half-ogre, he knocked me flat, out cold in one hit, I didn’t even get a hit in.  Our prisoners got away, but we got a new prisoner, the one man left.  Our leader is somewhat lacking for her first day, but I assume that she will improve… I hope.

End of session 3 (Level 2/1) "DIE FASTER!" Des Says.  Well I was trying today

Jei-pa and Kiara started using a spell called “Nap”, interesting spell, very useful, We are now traveling at night, our new captive is still out cold.  Jei-pa’s hawk says that there is trouble ahead, Nash and I scout ahead as usual, we found a very large camp of hobgoblins (40, 4 of them where chieftains), there were 5 huge bon fires and they were all dancing and walking around them.  We split up into 3 groups, I wanted two groups, but Fillpot seemed eager to give tactical ideas that he thought were good, since he was being so pushy and insistent, I decided that they wouldn't like my idea because I'm not one of them (I'm getting tired of being segregated for past decisions that were not my own), so I kept silent.  There were a few spells cast and with those a few problems.  Nash, Gunther, and Dwork (Group 1) went to the right side of the camp (in perspective to the road), Fillpot, Mannon, and I (group 3) went to the left, and Kiara, Jei-pa, Lornah, and Magellan (group 2) went to the center.  Well Kiara cast "Silence 15' Radius" on Nash, near the end of the battle, she fell and started to die.  After she went down and stopped moving the hobgoblin turned and started fighting Gunther, who was already fighting 1 or 2 hobgoblins already.  Nash went down to -8 before Dwork killed the hobgoblin attacking him and then went to her to help, then he jumped right back up again to help Gunther who just went down, luckily he had killed all but 1 hobgoblin, so Dwork didn't have much trouble, but there where no healers in there group.  Mannon at the start of the battle put a few of them on the right side of the middle to sleep with the "Sleep" spell (go figure huh?), then he cast "Phantasmal Force" and had a small fog cloud loom about and blinded a few (5 or so) of them on the left side of the middle for several rounds until we could get around to them, so he pretty much used his spells to hinder the hobgoblins in the middle so Kiara's group would have an easier time (and that was his assignment in the mission, guard Kiara, I guard her by getting rid of the threat Mannon helps me by distracting the extra monsters if needed, and it was).  At some point Fillpot, our groups healer, went down, I bandaged him and went right back to attacking, Fillpot was still down.  At one point a hobgoblin got past to Mannon and I got to him and killed him in the same round and then went back to fighting the hobgoblins I was fighting before that.  A little later near the end of the battle Mannon stopped concentrating on the fog cloud and it went a way, then because most of them were dead and it was safer now, he stepped over to the group that he put to sleep, and tried to kill them, well all he did was wake them up into a really bad mood.  Soon after he went down and I had to turn my back on a hobgoblin to find him, kill the hobgoblin so I could bandage Mannon, then turn just in time to start fighting another hobgoblin or two+.  Kiara's group didn't do much better; near the end Magellan went down, but with Kiara and Jei-pa there (both healers) he didn't stay down for long.  At one point Lornah was surrounded and being attacked by four hobgoblins, she got hit, a lot (she went down to 0 but made her Con. Check to stay up and fighting).  At one point she fumbled her weapon, she went to pick it up and all four of the hobgoblins swung over her head and missed (funniest event of the whole fight), and she eventually killed all four of them (each with one hit, and one right after another, second funniest event of the fight).  In short, it was a glorious battle.  There were only minimal problems and no failures.  My performance was excellent, only 5 of our members fell and only 4 stayed down during battle and all of them lived.  We searched, healed, cleaned up, got back to the road, and continued on our way.  I now feel better and reassured of my skills.  One of the hobgoblins got away thou (this battle took the entire session).  Traveled a little more then made camp, Jei-pa and I talked further on battle formations and tactics; I think he likes planning stuff like this, and he is good at it, I wonder how.  I did my sword exercises/maintenance, studied my spells, and thought of betters ways to deal with the incident that occurred today as I fell asleep.

End of session 4 (Level 3/1) yet another opportunity to die faster, and I tried.

Day 12 – April 18 Monday

On the way to town, we were on a back road to my town so it wasn’t very familiar to me, but we soon came upon some rivets in the road. They were dips that were dug out and looked like they were for slowing or stopping carts.  We got passed those by cutting down some small trees and putting them in the empty spots.  Found some more rivets, went back to the first rivets and got some of the logs to use on the new rivets.  Got back used the logs, was going fine until one of the wheels slipped and we heard a loud “CRACK” from the wheel.  Magellan fixed it with “Mend” and we moved on, hanging on to the logs incase there were more rivets up ahead.  Arrived at Lindorin tonight, here we could do and get all kinds of stuff, like more rations (yeah), and other food supplies if desired.  The town was almost dead, as it usually is at night.  We were escorted by town guards into town, and then to an inn.  Kiara shared a room with Lornah, Dwork Fillpot Gunther and our new captive were in another room, Magellan and Mannon shared another, Nash went home, I stayed with the group in Jei-pa’s room, they are my responsibility so I needed to stay with them instead of going home, I will visit home tomorrow.  We slept until morning.  Before going to bed I did my sword exercises (kind of)/maintenance and spell studying before finally falling sleep.

Day 13 – April 19 Tuesday (1 week together)

Woke early due to anxiety and desire, got Jei-pa up, went to guild, found Master Veofell, talked with him, gave him an update on what’s going on.  Had him meet Jei-pa, informed him that I was saved by Jei-pa 3 times, Veofell cringed and repeated what I said, and I reassured him that it was correct.  Went and ate breakfast with every one else, we made plans for the day, our captor woke up, Fillpot let him loose, he was eating breakfast with us.  He claimed that he and his companions were ambushed, funny, he didn’t seem to concerned about them.  I think he was one of the bandits we have been fighting, but I have no basis or proof, but if he was one, we will meet again, his name was Dell.  Shortly after breakfast I went back to the Guild and found Veofell, I gave guild 50 gold and 10 platinum to him for my tithe, then I showed him the weird arm band we found (the guild kept it for further investigation), and told him of the favors the party had done for the city (The 39 hobgoblins), I asked if he could “Identify” some stuff for us, he said he would Identify two objects, after that transaction I told him that I felt that I was ready for my test to obtain my red cord, he gave a slight smirk as he said “Really.”  I passed.  I skipped a whole rank, from purple to red, no white cord for me.  I knocked and the great doors opened to the training hall, there were 20 agents standing in two lines (kind of like a hall), between me and the three Grand Guild Masters, as soon as the doors shut behind me all 20 agents drew there swords and crossed them making an X in front of me.  There were 10 pairs of swords I needed to get through, I got through them all.  Each pair was a task, a question, or a challenge (mental and/or physical).  One was a candle thing, 8 candles were set around me, they made me look at them all, close my eyes, and then told me to extinguish each one with out opening my eyes, I got four of the eight candles, those four candle that I didn’t get were moved, a few questions followed.  Then there was a board test, first I got two of five boards, then Grand Master Dem-ces asked me “Are you satisfied with this”, I answered with no, and he replied with “How much further did you expect to go”, “One more, I always expect to be able to go further by one more”, they let me try it again and I got 5 out of 6, they told me that no one lower than orange rank has ever broken all 6, there were more questions and tasks, and soon it was over.  3 physical tests, 6 questions, and the last part was a deep question.  One of the series of questions happened at about sword pair 4…

The DM said “There blades move and they step back…”

I Said “I step forward to the next set…”

Then one of the guild master's started questioning my character.

Who can you trust?

I can trust my fellow Bladesmen.

Who else?

I can trust my elven brethren.

Even Drow?

They are not my brethren.

The DM Said “They move their blades and step back…”

I said “I step forward to the next set…”

Be focused on your target, yet be aware of your surroundings, told to my by Veofell all through my training and told to me that day, echoed through my head for the rest of the day.  What did I learn:  I’m not one of the very best… yet, I have much to learn, I must improve greatly by next visit.  There was a small ceremony following were I was shown my PLATE/TATTOO ranks improve.  Kiara, Magellan, and Mannon went to the library to research stories and things, Dwork, Fillpot and Gunther decided to view the town, Jei-pa and Lornah came with me do sell our extra equipment, and sort all of that out.  When I went to take my test they started their own view of the town.  Nash reported to her superiors.  Dwork got a new double-headed axe from my dad; he got “Skull Splitter” engraved in it (Troll fucker upper was an idea thrown around before “Skull Splitter”).  Fillpot asked my dad if he could fix his mace handle, the party got into a fight with some goblins before I could meet up with them, in that fight Fillpot used an antique mace with a lot of family history engraved on it, so when he went to use it, it broke (actually Billy [Fillpot] and Jeff [DM] had a talk about the weapon and Billy said for role playing purposes that as soon as he rolled a 1 while using that weapon, it would break, the very first attack Billy made with that weapon he rolled a one, poor Billy), So Fillpot asked my dad if he could make him a new metal handle with the engravings on it, my dad said he could and told Fillpot to pick it up tomorrow.  And as I under stand there was some trouble with payment, Dwork had no idea about how to handle money, we (Magellan and I) still gave everyone there share of party loot, but the people from Tyrisio don’t use money, so the idea is completely new to them.  So Dwork asked my father

“Uhh, how many of these shiny thing do I give you?”

“Your from Tyrisio aren’t you?”

“Ya, is that a problem?”

“No, now lets see, its ten of these silver ones (platinum pieces, the price was 50 gold).”

“O, ok, here you go.”

“Thank you for shopping from me.”

So we stayed the next night as well.  Having learned the spell “copy”, I decided that I would leave my scroll case contents (10 writing quills, 1 vial of normal ink, 2 vials of spell copying ink) at home from now on.  I did my sword exercises/maintenance and spell studying before going to sleep as usual.

Day 14 – April 20 Wednesday

Spent last night with Talanya again, talked to each other, held each other, and stayed at Cat Falls like that all night long, I wish I could have stayed like that forever.  If it weren’t for my dishonored name I would ask her father to marry her now and settle down with her, but I can’t just yet, but I will.  Morning came and we went to go sell our excess stuff now.  We bartered with the trade post keeper, we gave him a magical suit of leather armor as payment to identify the rest of our stuff, went shopping for stuff (magical items, now every one has one {and only one} magic item, even me) after that, and we got Dwork and Fillpot’s new weapons from my dad, Jei-pa saw what Fillpot had done to his mace handle and asked if my dad would do the same for him, my dad said yes, it will be ready by tomorrow.  Dad and I finally met and talked for a little while, I told him about my test and he asked me how many times Master Dem-ces tripped and embarrassed me, I told him, we laughed, ahh that was funny.  I told him about the party and the adventure, he wished us well as we left.  It was soon after that I realized that I had surpassed my own father in rank, plate level, and tattoo.  I did my sword exercises/maintenance and spell studying before going to sleep.

Day 15 – April 21 Thursday

Spent the night with Talanya again, just as always the same thing happened (same as last night, I’ve been cat napping through out the day time).  Before leaving town again I gave her one of her crystal roses, she smiled and that’s what keeps me going, her happiness.  She has several crystal roses now (23 to be exact), she has made her little crystal rose garden near Cat Falls, a wonderful heaven for us, since it’s a sacred place there aren’t many people who go there, and the animals don’t disturb it, and if anything does happen to them I can always make her more, but they wouldn’t have the same sentimental value.  Also before leaving town I got one more thing to eat.  Jei-pa received a vision in a dream and was doing something about it today.  Turns out he knows a spell that makes berries very useful (the spell is “Good Berry”).  Got Jei-pa’s new weapon from my dad, dad and I talked a little more.  As the party was getting ready to leave Mannon showed up with a mountain lion, I asked him what is this, he told me its his familiar.  I asked him if I could talk to him for a minute, we went and talked about were he got it.  I soon found out he sold the ring of protection +1 to get the components for the spell “Find Familiar”.  A debate/argument began, “You sold a magical item that the party could have use in a more beneficial way, a magic item, that was both self centered and disrespectful, you know the item system that we decided on, and you did it just so you could benefit from it by getting your familiar before others of us did so you could show that you are better.  Instead of having a protective item, you have given us another target to guard, may I ask why?  You have been slipping in your responsibilities, I guard Kiara more than you now, you were assign to do that as your job, you should do it better than me.  Now you have your priorities split between your job, your god, your powers, and now a familiar what do you plan to do now, guard Kiara and serve your god, or advance your abilities thinking of your self and using the excuse “its for the good of the group” crap.  I’m very surprised at your actions; I’m also very disappointed with your decisions.  The only good reason I can think of that you did it is some personal idea that you need to advance in power as a show that your years of time spent with your master wasn’t for nothing, so you can have some reassurance that he didn’t fail with his last project, is that it, is that why, to prove to your master that you can succeed.  I don’t think his opinion of you should matter to you any more, he’s dead, you learned what you could in the time you had, now your in a group, you need to think of the group as your new teachers, I am, I learn something every day.  What we think of you should matter, not some dead mage, or some guy who wants to kill you.  I think your just as capable as the next mage that comes along, if not more capable, damn what others think of your abilities, let them mock your abilities or think less of them, when the time comes you will prove those people wrong.  At least we can look at the bright side and know that this won’t happen again.  Now look, I see you as a brother of sorts, I don’t want to see my image of you tarnished because you lose sight of your objective, there will be time and chances to improve, trust me, there will be time and chances.”  He responded with he was sorry, it was a spur of the moment thing, and that he was afraid that the party would say no, he is also afraid of the party in general, for fairness he will forfeit the next magical item that comes along that would go to him.  Before we left town we discussed the Queen of the dead Sachmara, and the Druid ruins, we had an argument on which way to go.  Since the bandit cave was possibly to the north as well as the queen of the dead, we though that going north we could get a lot of good done, take out some bandits, get some stuff from there lair, or at the very least find out some information on them and confirm that there is a cave there so that I’ll have enough information to report back to my guild with a credible status report.  Kiara, Fillpot, and Mannon wanted to go south, every one else wanted to go north, Fillpot went into prayer to ask for guidance, he is on the Tyrisio town council, Fillpot’s vision was himself and others helping some other people out of a dark pit.  He interpreted the answer he got as a message to go north, to go to the desecrated land of the undead (Maybe).  So we soon left Lindorin, I hope to return soon, we decided to travel north to investigate the bandit cave and other activities up there.  We traveled through the forest and were walking under what we soon found out to be large spider webs, so we went around it all.  Traveled for a good while longer, and came across a rivulet (very small river, 30’ across), couldn’t pass, traveled west to find a way across.  Found a stone bridge, we had Nash go and check it out, as soon as she was in the middle of the bridge a troll started crawling up the side of it, 4 more trolls came up a couple of rounds later, we killed them all, every one was fine, my new sword is going to take some getting use to, but I have it, which means I’m one more step closer to being the best I can.  Dwork lost his brand new axe in the rivulet during the fight with the trolls (should have engraved troll fucker-upper on it instead, yup).

End of session 5 (Level 3/2)

Jei-pa cast water breathing on me, I went to search for Dwork’s axe, I cast “light” on my sword so I could see in the murky water better, I could see about five feet in front of me instead of one.  Found it in a couple of minutes.  As soon as I found it I saw some movement in front of me, then it shifted and moved above me.  It was a crocodile; I had to take it on by my self (I tried to get back to the party the whole time).  This was something I was expecting, since I was the one who got the “ring of free action” as my magic item I was the most eligible candidate.  As soon as I killed it I drug it back to shore, and was healed a little (from 9 to 16 by Kiara, started at 26).  I found out that every one saw the trail of blood that was created from me and the crocodile and Jei-pa and Dwork each drank a dose of the potion of water breathing we had and went in after me (Mannon also drank a dose, there is only one dose left now).  I went after Jei-pa and Dwork, found them got out and we quickly and we made a plan before the potions effects wore off.  Mannon never made it into the water (he had a small altercation with Magellan), went back to the base of the bridge, cast light on my sword again, searched and found a hole under the far end of the bridge.  Searched, the troll hole, soon found a fork in the tunnel (Tunnel A to the left and tunnel B to the right), we took the left one (tunnel A), soon found another fork, took the left one again (tunnel C), it opened up into a small opening (room C from tunnel C), we found out that there was an air pocket at the top, as soon as Mannon found that out something hit his leg (5 damage).  Cast light on Dwork’s axe, we saw a grinning troll leaping at us, and another hit me from behind.  We got out of the water filled room with sever difficulty (I’m now at 2 from 16 in four minutes) Dwork had to come back to help me get out (I have a ring of free action so I told them to run for it while I fended them off for there escape), Jei-pa and Mannon got back the first tunnel (A), and another troll showed up and knocked the wind out of Mannon and then bit his neck (5 damage now at -3) and he went limp, I got him and went back to the shore, Fillpot healed him, but by that time his wounds had gotten worse (he was at –7 now brought back to –5 but lo longer bleeding internally), Jei-pa and Dwork soon showed up on shore.  Then two trolls showed up.  Helped kill one, Dwork and a couple of others took care of the other troll.  After we killed the first one the second started to run, Fillpot tripped it and held its feet, Dwork came up and planted “Skull Splitter” right in the middle of the troll’s back, it stopped moving.  We lit them on fire, healed, set up camp, and made plans for tomorrow morning.  Nash took care of the crocodile skin and meat, Nash, Gunther and I ate well that night.  We were spending a lot of time here, but hopefully it will be worth it.  I did my sword exercises/maintenance and spell studying before going to sleep.  My watch came; I kept a good eye on that water.

Day 16 – April 22 Friday

Early morning, try to take on the troll hole again, all of us are fully healed and ready to go, skipped breakfast for now.  After all was said and done, we had seven of us going back into the troll hole.  Kisys, Jei-pa, Dwork, Fillpot, Lornah, Magellan, and Nash.  Kiara, Mannon, and Gunther stayed up on shore and to guard the campsite, we figured Gunther would only create problems, Kiara didn’t want to go, so with Mannon, Mannon’s Familiar, and Gunther staying to guard her and the site, I think they’ll be fine, plus it gives us more time to breath under water.  We went down, took the right tunnel (tunnel B), there was another fork (tunnel D), now that there are seven of us with light spells on our weapons we can see a lot better, we stayed going down tunnel B, we soon found that it looped around and tunnel A joined with it making an oval type loop.  There was a hole at the very back were tunnel A and B met.  The hole was like a vertical tunnel leading down to another level, or so it looked.  We skipped it for now and went to another tunnel that we found.  The last tunnel that we found (tunnel E) was maybe 10 yards or so past tunnel/room C.  Tunnel E was above the water level, it led back to room C.  We now saw more of room C.  It had three openings, two of which we have explored so we went to see what was down the third opening.  The third opening (another hole, tunnel F) was in the upper left corner, it sloped down a ways, this whole time since we have been in here I have had a ring of free action and it has proven to be quite beneficial just as long as I don’t fall any were, since the water provides zero friction for me.  Now in room F, I see movement in front of me.  We started fighting a troll, hit it pretty hard, then the others started to move in, I got one more attacks in before they got to close.  I cast lightning strike and hit the troll, Interesting effect, I took damage (3) but it was a small area of effect, the visual looked a little different this time, it “sparked” more than before, and the surges of lightning were smaller than before as well, I don’t think the troll liked it, then we all started to pelt away at it.  After a few seconds later it grabbed my face (5 damage, I’m at 13 of 26 now), I attacked its arm and hit (11 damage), but his arm was still attached… to my face.  I got that off and started dealing with the troll again.  The troll I was hitting went limp, Jei-pa and I started dragging it back up to the surface to set it on fire to kill it, but then we decided to take it down the hall to the dry part and set in on fire there.  We dragged it a ways and waited for the others, they showed up with the other troll and we did what we thought of doing.  We went back to the room and searched it.  There was a pile of bones in the back of the room; we found a magical ring, shield, and a large chest.  We searched back to the other side (room D), we found a lot of little things, bags and little boxes and stuff.  We then went back to the surface and sorted through every thing.  Then Kiara informed us that she no longer wanted to be party leader.  A long debate followed that announcement.  We eventually decided that we would keep Kiara as party leader.  It was then asked what would we do next.  The party goal is to find the chalice.  We want a party leader to stop the fighting amongst the party.  We eventually came to the conclusion that we wanted to take the money and items back to Lindorin to lighten our load, and get better items, this would benefit our over all goal any way we may travel to obtain it.  Well we had only wandered for about four hours or so, so Lindorin was still very near by.  So with in hours we found the town and commenced business as before.

End of session 6

We paid the trade post keeper to identify our stuff this time (1400 gp).  Now we need to see if we can find some more stuff to improve the party, time to go shopping again…  Kiara, Jei-pa, and Fillpot, all three could use a better weapon.  I got some thing to eat and then went to my father’s forge and helped him work for a while, Fillpot came to me at one point and asked me if I could read some strange writing on a piece of paper.  Gunther, Dwork, and Lornah were at the tavern drinking, they were using Gunther’s money to buy the drinks, Gunther eventually asked they to bring Dwork and Lornah a round of dishwashing soup instead of ale (They didn’t like it), Gunther proceeded to say “Hah, maybe that teach you to use MY money.”  I stayed at my father’s forge until Jei-pa came and got me to go to the bar so that we could have a group meeting.  Talked for a while and made plans about what to do, split up items (Dwork was given a “Dwarven Thrower”, well Deans from Australia, so we have given the Australian Dwarf a boomerang hammer, God help us), sold items, bought items, then after some questions were asked we asked a shop keep if we could rent a ring of truth for a minute, he said yes just as long as the ring didn’t leave the shop, Fillpot put it on Kiara’s finger and asked her some questions and then we were done with shopping (and shop using) for the day.  I asked my brother if he could take the skin of the crocodile that I killed and make it into “hide” armor (AC 6), he said that he would, it will take him about 3 weeks to finish making it.  We stayed the night, I spent it with Talanya (again, no I don’t spend much time at home, every one just think I’m at the guild, on patrol, or taking care of something), I gave some of the extra gems we got from the troll lair to Talanya, they were the gems that every one else didn’t think was worth any thing, so I didn’t think any one would mind, and then I gave her another crystal rose (24th), her garden is looking very beautiful and colorful, I like it, she can make any thing wonderful, I told her that “I will try to summon my familiar here”, all she could do was smile and hold me, that made her so happy, and that’s one of the things I care about most.  I did my sword exercises/maintenance and spell studying before going to sleep.

Day 17 – April 23 Saturday

Morning came, during the night Fillpot had carved 9 small pieces of wood (called chits) that we will now use as our voting tools, and they gave Kiara a small note book to keep track of the votes cast, I wonder what kind of system this is.  We left town early (I still got some thing to eat before we left), and headed back towards the bridge.  Four hours later, we were back to the bridge.  Magellan got out his maps and we looked at it to figure out which way we were going to go.  There was a fork in the road (God save us all from this decision), we took the left fork and stayed to the left of the road instead of on it.  After a while, we heard screams, a woman screaming, and then we saw a chimera standing over a screaming women and a bloody dead looking guy (screw this voting chit, KILL IT!).  Fillpot prayed for blessings, Tyr finally said “fine your blessed, go kill the damn thing”.  We fought valiantly and killed it with great haste, I took on the dragon head, Gunther took on the lion head, Dwork and Lornah took on the goats head, Nash stayed at a good distance and helped (some were), Lornah had to withdraw from combat mid-way, but she is fine now.  During the fight Fillpot got the living young woman and the dead young man to safety.  After it was dead we took care of the young woman and asked if we could camp for the night near her house, she said yes so we made camp for the night before doing other misc. tasks.  We will wait until morning until we ask her any other questions.  Nash and I skinned the chimera, gutted it, and I sorted and wrapped up the parts.  Then we cooked most of it and again, Nash, Gunther, and I ate very well that night.  I used “Mend” on the dragonhead of the chimera; hopefully we can use it to make something out of it, I was careful when packing it and its parts.  I did my sword exercises/maintenance and spell studying before going to sleep.

End of session 7 (Level 4/2)

Day 18 – April 24 Sunday

Morning came, Nash and I dinned on our rations as usual, I used my cantrips as usual, I don’t think that she wanted to ask for my help with any thing, even her food, well my rations taste better than the normal ones and that’s all I care about.  The party moved on from our campsite to start looking for the bandit cave.  We found a cave pretty soon.  Mannon cast invisibility on Nash (Mannon commented that it was a waste of a spell), so now she is invisible and silent (boots of Elven kind, waste of a spell my ass, idiot.  Found out later that he didn’t want to cast it on someone who would use it to hit someone and waste it, he wanted to use the spells to get Kiara, himself and Jei-pa out of danger if there was a need, every ones argument, including mine, is if you use the spells to succeed then you don’t need them to escape).  We had Nash search cave, no signs of life of any kind what so ever.  We searched the surrounding hilly area; we found some rocks and one really big rock (about 10 feet tall).  We examined it and found that it was magical, we tried moving it but that didn’t work, then Kiara stepped forward and (after casting a spell, I don’t remember which spell) said “Standfell” like it was some ones name or something.  Then the rock moved over on its own quietly and smoothly.  So we went down into the “cave” type place, it kept sloping down, there was an opening that looked down into another room with 6 lit torches, we followed it around and found a passage leading in another direction, we kept going forward.  It curved all the way around still sloping down to the room with the 6 lit torches.  There were three passageways; each one had a torch on either side of it (6 lit torches total).  There were three slots by the entrance that we came in, they were meant for torches.  We split up.  Kiara, Mannon, Magellan, and Gunther stayed at the entrance that we first came in from.  Every one else and Mannon’s familiar went down the first passage way on the right.  We traveled down the hall for about 200 yards; the dwarves informed us that we were about 200 feet under ground.  My thoughts started dwelling on Drow inhabitance.  Nash, who was still invisible, scouted ahead and found a door where she heard some one snoring.  Every one else caught up and she told me to wait out side the door and be ready to come in and help me if there was any trouble.  She went in and the man woke up and then shut the door, a few seconds later she opened the door, completely visible, and then she looked at me and said “Oops…”.  I looked into the room saw what happened and responded with “Ok, you are fired when it comes to taking prisoners and knocking people out, I’ll do it, you can interrogate the hell out of them, but as far as taking prisoners and other things like that, you don’t need to worry about it.”  When the guy shut the door he went back to his chair and went back to sleep.  Nash snuck up behind him and hit him on both sides of his head with the pommels of her swords.  She heard a small crack and the guy went limp and his head fell on to the table hard.  She killed him pretty dishonorably, he was asleep, she snuck up on him, she didn’t now if he was armed or not, he was not a combatant, and she killed him.  We searched him and the room, all we found of importance was a small piece of paper with a simple diagram on it.

End of session 8

Nash told the party to wait here in the hall just before the first fork, she scouted ahead and found 2 doors and there was a man in the room to the right, she killed him on accident.  Nash came back and got me to come with her and I took care of the guy.  She scouted ahead a little more while I looked at the room across hall, bad food room, all the food was in horrible conditions.  Nash came back I told her to wait her while I go get the party, then I told her if any one comes down hall run and met us (she is silent).  I got party to the room with the dead guy in it now.  Nash and I scouted further down the hall; we found 2 more rooms with bad food in them further down the hall.  We kept going and then Nash got two crossbow bolts to the chest (O My God, not her beautiful elven chest!!! Noooooooooo!!!).  There was a guy, a BIG guy, wearing chain mail with a cross bow and a big 2-handed sword.  He said, “Slowly drop your swords and kick them over to me.”  I cast lightning strike on my sword and said “You can have sword when you can pry it out on my dead fingers.”  Right after I cast the spell I was hit by a crossbow bolt, but I still said what I wanted.  We’d been gone for about 10 minutes, Jei-pa got worried and sent his hawk down the hall, his hawk saw us fighting then came back.  Jei-pa received the information from his hawk and then said “Uhh guys there in trouble!”  As soon as Jei-pa said, “Uhh” Dwork was out the door and running down the hall as fast as he could, Mannon’s Familiar (A.K.A. Mannon’s lion or cat) told Mannon of trouble and they came running down the hall as well.  The big guy in chain mail took both Nash and I on at the same time in a small hall way (Bladesinger and Town Guard working together with no arguments for the first time), she lost one of her scimitars, soon after that she tried to run and she went down.  Shortly after that, I went down.  By the time the rest of the party got to our position we where gone, but they could see blood on the walls and two blood trials along the floor.  They followed it and found us soon at the end of the hallway next to a door; we were propped up against the wall.  They healed us and made sure we were ok.  The bastard took my sword, now I’m pissed.  We went into the room, there was no one in it, so we searched, Magellan and Nash were searching the hall, Gunther just stood in the doorway, while the rest of us searched inside.  Jei-pa and I started searching the walls; Kiara and Fillpot started looking at the fireplace and its torches.  Mannon casts “Light” on his staff to use as a light source then cast “Effect Normal Fires” and put out the fire in the fireplace, still very hot though.  Fillpot and Kiara started looking over the fireplace really well but still found nothing with it.  We figured that the guy couldn’t have gone far or any other way but through here some were.  I found a well-rounded rock about 4 inches above the floor about a foot to the right of the fireplace.  The stone was able to move inwards into the wall, so I said I found something and pushed it in, then push it a little, it turn out that the rock was made of 3 pieces, 2 half circles and a ¼ inch by 1½ inch rectangular slat that ran up and down, it was like a handle in a way, so I turned it.  By this time every one was paying attention to me and what I was doing, good thing no one was near me, as soon as I turned the thing clock-wise the floor around me gave way and fell through in four pieces, like a diamond formation.  As soon as I started falling, I was hit by 4 or so poison darts, I was paralyzed.  I fell about 40 feet and hit water, only the water did break my fall much since I was wearing my ring of free action.  So now I am paralyzed and in water, good thing I was also wearing my necklace of adaptation, so I was fine to some extent, but the water I was in smelled of death.  Dwork got a length of rope from Gunther, Mannon triggered the trap again with a cantrip “Mage Hand”, while Jei-pa used Kiara’s Erecto-staff to hold the trap doors open, then Mannon with his staff with “Light” on it tried to use it so see further down the trap, every one could see the light reflect off of the water.   Dwork took out his fist sized rock (which he knew would come in handy some day) and tied the rope to the rock and lowered it down to see how deep the water was, they heard the water when I hit it and because of Mannon’s staff they could see it, so they wanted to test how deep it is.  When the rope gave Dwork some slack, he pulled it back up and saw that it was about 8 feet deep.  Mannon got the rope from Dwork and tied in around him self to come and get me with his staff with light on it, Jei-pa cast “Water Breathing” on him and he came after me.  When he got down were the water was he found that it was deeper than they assumed since the square shaped hole I fell in sloped near the bottom.  Mannon cast detect magic to find me by looking for my magical items energies, and see if there were any other items down here (I would have done the same thing).  He found me and I looked lifeless, but I had a pulse, so he tied the rope to me and told the party that there were some other items down here and to go ahead and pull me up and then lower the rope again to get him.  So they did, Mannon found 4 items: 1 long sword, 1 shield, 1 metal medium shield and 1 potion.  I was healed once again, Jei-pa started joking about “Hmm, I’ve always wondered what Elven blood tastes like”, then after that he started joking that the “Cure Paralization” spell wasn’t working.  During this time Dwork took my hand and put it on his ass, as soon as I was able I planted a punch right in his gut.  He kind of shrugged it off knowing that the hit was coming.  Mannon used “Mage Hand” to turn the switch the other way.  The floor fell but it didn’t fall through, it moved down about 3 feet and came to a slope that led to a hall way about 5 feet wide, room enough for 1 person at a time, Nash went first I was behind her, Dwork was behind me and I don’t know who was after that.  The hall eventually got a little wider, short hall, at the end of it there was a latter leading down to another room.  Nash went down first.  When she reached the floor she was shot in the chest with another cross bow bolt, I heard her make a weird sound and started down as fast as I could.  As soon as I could se the guy I used “Magic Missile” on him, since my sword was stolen I was allowed.  Then I dropped off the latter and then Nash and I rushed the guy (Bladesinger and Town Guard working together with no arguments again), I used my martial arts and hit him with a head punch (rolled a 1, best), knocked him right out, in 1 punch.  Checked him over, he wasn’t the guy we fought earlier, some new guy.  There was a door in the right corner of the room, I went first and kicked it open and looked in it, it was the first end of a very short hall (about 10 feet long) and another door.  There were 2 torches on either side of the hall (removable), while waiting in the hall Kiara cast “Bless”.  The door at the end of the hall was slightly open, I tried to look in but the room was completely dark, so I had Jei-pa pass me one of the torches.  I held the torch through the doorway to try to see inside the room, all I could see was light glinting off of metal.  I threw the torch hoping that it would just hit an armor rack on the far wall or some thing to that effect, no luck; the torch was struck by what looked like a metal shield.  The torch fell to the fall side of the room and was dimly lighting the room.  Some of the party then rushed through the door and I followed behind, 4 of us made it into the room, then one of the six guys (we could see now that we were in the room) one of them said “O SOMETHING” and the door slammed shut, Lornah, Nash, Dwork, Jei-pa and my self were in the room when the door sealed itself shut.  A few seconds later the door flew open and a pissed off looking minotaur came charging threw, the door knob and that edge of the door were still there.  Dwork hammered one of the guys by throwing his hammer as soon as he got in, then the one who said the command words fired a “Magic Missile” at him.  The rest of the party makes it threw the door and battle ensues.  We where hurt bad but no one went down.  There were 6 total, 1 mage like guy and 5 fighter types, I cast “Magic missile” at mage guy and it dissipated right in front of him.  Mannon cast sleep and one guy went down (this was all in the surprise round of combat, now initiative is rolled). Mannon cast magic Missile at the guy attacking Kiara and it hit, while Magellan cast “Magic Missile at another guy. Most of us did very well, even Mannon’s lion finely joined us in honored combat, it didn’t do so well but still we finally got a use out of the thing, it looked like it was doing minimal damage but it hit hard once, only once though.  We searched the room, there were some crates on one side of the room with stuff in them, we took care of our 2 prisoners by tying them together, and took care of the rest of the bodies by dropping them down the trap tunnel (while doing this Mannon and I have a chat about what order to do things in, search/take weapons then tie them up, or tie them up then search/take weapons.  I did my way for specific reasons and Mannon just could not see this, he said “It would make me fell better if you did it this way”, and I told him a series of examples and ideas to get the point across that - I don’t care if there is some thing that I do and some one would feel better if I do it a different way, I do it my way for a reason.  I don’t think the talk helped at all, and I believe that future problems will arise from my inexperienced friend).  I found my sword in one of the crates (my honor is my Achilles heel, but damn its cool), and Nash found hers to.  One of the guys was the big guy in chain mail that Nash and I fought earlier.  Altogether we found 6 metal armors, 9 swords, 7 pairs of boots, their clothes, and other stuff (Jeff hasn’t told us what else yet).

End of session 9 (4/3) Got hit for 55 damage total over the entire session (my hp = 32, now 36 yeah  ^_^ )

We had Gunther watch over the 2 prisoners, Dwork knocked the 2nd guy out with a head punch (these damn head punches, there every were, and they work), and I was watching the latter and hall that led to it, I was in the room were we encountered the crossbow men.  We determined that we needed to decide if we where going to stay of leave the bandit cave, we voted,

However, the vision provided hinted that none of these decisions was an option.  Kiara and Jei-pa spoke with Tyr together; they spoke with one another, and then told us what they saw.  In there vision they saw there father, looking very ill, then they saw a man, they had a distinct feeling that it was Tyr, the man went over to there father's bed, picked him up and walked off.  It was like Tyr saying, “If you don't hurry I will take your father away...” We all concluded that it was time to go, we concluded that we got some stuff that might help us in the pursuit of the chalice, I said that I had enough information to report back to my guild, so we made plans to leave the cave as soon as possible.  We where low on HP and almost completely out of spells.  We made our plan and prepped to leave, we each put on one of the swords that we found except Gunther, then we used one of the crates to carry the 6 suits of metal armor and 5 pairs of boots, the other 2 pair of boots were put in Gunther's back pack, there was plenty of room since we where using his rope to hold the crate shut and carry it easier, then we had Gunther carry the two guys that we had now (yes we use Gunther for a lot, he is very helpful).  We made it up the latter and into the hall there.  We had Mannon cast "Invisibility" on Nash and his Familiar.  We had them go up first; Mannon's familiar reported it was all clear.  We came up, and worked our way down the hall.  Nash and Mannon's familiar got to the fork and waited for us.  We caught up to them and discussed how to get out of the foyer area.  We had the cat run up to the half wall and look over the whole room, we had Nash scout down the fork a little (30 feet or so) and wait until we where almost out of her range of vision, then have her start following.  She heard a noise behind her and sped up a little then heard it again then hurried to catch up with the rest of us.  She sneaked up next to Lornah and whispered in here ear “I'll eat you alive”...  Lornah kind of shrieked quietly, and punched in the direction the sound came from, she nailed Nash, Nash proceeded to say “Hey it’s me Nash, stupid bitch.” (Nothing good will come of this, she will be punished for such an action in this kind of situation, either by me, the party, or her superiors, or all of us)  She said that she heard some thing behind her, so we hurried along and the whole while Mannon's cat was watching for any activity in the foyer area.  We got there and kept going, I was in the lead, Jei-pa and Dwork where behind me both carrying the crate of stuff.  Mannon stopped for a second and cast his last spell on Kiara, now Kiara was invisible.  We almost go to the exit, then it opened, we started backing down the hall and filed into the first hall that we came across.  Once we were all in it I drew my blade as silently as I could, to me it seemed almost deafening, but no one else seemed to notice.  There was one guy's footsteps that we could hear, and he was whistling.  He passed the hall we where in and we waited for several more second and started going back up towards the exit.  We heard the guy stop for a moment, some of us could see him as we passed by the half wall, he was in front of the first hall with one of its torches in his hand, and he looked like he was listening for some thing because he was just standing there not looking at anything in particular that we could see.  Dwork was in front now with Jei-pa helping him with the crate, I was behind them now.  We kept going and then Dwork got to the entrance, then he said “Felon”, and the stone didn’t open and Dwork tried saying it again and a couple of other and was about to panic when I pushed my way to the front and said “Stanfell”, then the rock started to slide open.  We started filing out of the cave as fast and as quietly as we could.  When Mannon got to the half wall, he then threw one of his throwing daggers into the third hallway.  We heard foot steps running up the ramp to our position, then skitter to a stop and run the other way down to the hall entrances, the last 4 people could hear him say "Hey...  HEEEY!"  Every one that was out side took off a little ways and then started hiding behind rocks and hills.  Nash and I waited at the entrance, Nash right in front of it, and me behind the rock where the guy couldn't see me if he came out, when he did I was going to say “Stanfell” and close the rock.  I told Nash “I want to get this guy, dead or alive, he knows that some one was able to get into the cave that wasn’t suppose to be there, he doesn’t know how many, but he still knows to much. I don't want Kiara or any other party members from Tyrisio seen near here; I don’t like the idea of out side people developing a dislike for the people of Tyrisio.  We need to capture this guy or kill him so that he can’t relay the information that he knows, at least he didn’t see us or how many of us there are.”  He stayed in the entrance and didn't come out, then he closed the stone himself.  Nash opened it again and yelled at the guy “HEY YOU!”

End of session 10 (5/3)

It was around sunset, the guy never came back out after he went back in, we waited for a minute, Nash opened the rock again and yelled "You suck!", we waited a couple of more seconds and then left, the guy didn't SEE any of us at least.  We went as far as we could.  We made camp about 15 minutes or so north from the fork in the road that we passed on the way here.  Mages studied, priests prayed, tied each prisoner to there own tree and set up the crate across from them for some one to sit on and watch them.  As soon as we set up camp after the bandit cave Jei-pa and I start talking on how this battle planning stuff is starting to pay off.

Mannon and I had a talk about team work and party participation, and making decisions on his own in stead of going with the party’s decision (referring to his comment when we asked him to make Nash invisible the first time).  Spoke more on the ring he sold, and how it was disgraceful and dishonorable, and that his credibility has suffered badly because of it.  We also had further discussions on the party loot system, we originally decided that we would split the money equally, but Magellan had a better idea, none of us have ever been in a party before so when I thought about it the idea for a while, and it really works well and better than the original idea, its still fair to an extent, just as long as you watch what other people get, unless they get stuff with there own money.  Consider what would happen if we do split up the loot equally every time, no one would be able to afford any thing of any real use until a few trip to town, mean while the system that we are using has gotten us each two magical item in the span of two town visits in a couple of days.  Then there was more on the team effort subject, Mannon doesn’t see why I am making such a big deal about “that ring thing”, and I explained to him that it was a bad decision and a major event that he did that and he didn’t agree with the party and he thought that his idea was better and he thought since his idea was better he was going to do it.  He explained to me that wasn’t what he meant or intended, and I told him “that’s what it seemed like”, he didn’t get my point.  I know now why, with his great mind, he became a mage and not a leader of any form, he lacks the basics of teamwork, what trouble will this get us into I wonder.

We went to sleep and watch shifts started.  No fire (didn't want to attract attention to our location), so we had to have some one with Infravision on each watch to watch the prisoners.  Nash was the first to sit on the crate and watch the prisoners.  Instantly covered from neck down in webbing.  She screamed "SPIDERS!!!", woke every one up except Gunther.  Every one get out of there tents and starts fighting.  There is webbing flying every were constantly, Jei-pa makes his way to Nash and rips the webbing off of her.  We still have no spells.  Webbing missed me here and there, but every now and then some hit me, but did nothing due to my ring of free action.  Jei-pa got an idea and then asked me "You a brave and noble warrior right?", then he grabbed me and threw me (Kisys-Dooken!), only he didn't throw me very well, I flew 10 feet...  forwards, and skidded across the forest floor (Chris rolled a 1), at my current position I could see 3 of them.  Soon Jei-pa lit his hammer and almost blinded every one with Infravision, Dwork yelled "Put out that torch!" at him to put it out, so he did.  I wasn't able to do much for the first parts of the battle since I'm not a distance person.  Jei-pa then went to Fillpot and threw him, well Jei-pa didn't throw him very well either, he flue threw the air and under the spiders, then got webbed a lot during his feather fall.  More webbing flue through the air and got some people.  A couple of the spiders came to the ground, Dwork threw his hammer again and hit the spider for the 3rd time and killed it, but he was blinded by the webbing and he heard the hammer come close to him then go past and shuffle around in some bushes and stop, so he went to go get it.  I finally got to were Fillpot was and Jei-pa just got there as well.  I hit it, then Jei-pa hit it, Jei-pa hit it hard.  It squealed in pain, I hit it again and killed it, then turned and started attacking another one that was sneaking up on Kiara, no one else noticed it, but now Jei-pa knew were it was and he started attacking it and killed it.  I jumped on me and bit me (for a lot of damage, no poison though).  A few people had been blinded by this point, Mannon, Lornah, Fillpot, and Dwork, it took a few rounds (4 or more) to get the webbing off of there faces, and it burns the eyes.  Nash got hit by some webbing and it stuck her hands to her bow, she then ran to were she saw me last to try and help since she couldn't fire her bow any more, she found me and ran by a couple of time trying to shoulder hit the spider that was attacking me.  Dwork was still looking for his hammer, he heard a shuffling noise behind him but kept looking for his hammer any way.  He finally found it and turned around and got hit by the jaws of one of the spiders, he went down and didn't get back up, and he wasn't moving (Dwork is now at -17, good bye Dwork).  Gunther was finally woken up now, he came out of his tent and killed one right off the bat (Max damage on a large creature 1d12 times 2 + 8).  Then Gunther found another one near the camp and killed it as well (this was the spider that killed Dwork).  4 spiders down now, then Jei-pa killed the one that we were attacking, that was the last one.

End Session 11

The battle is over, the spiders are all slain.  Lornah called for help, me and a couple of others rushed over there, while Kiara, Jei-pa and a couple others helped Fillpot.  We found that Dwork had been slain, I carried him over to his brother, there was immediate action, praying and other action followed, but nothing worked, Dwork was still gone.  During the prayer, the three received a vision, it was Dwork, getting up and and walking towards an older looking, man (Tyr maybe).  Tyr held out his hand and Dwork went to him and took his hand, Kiara called out “No, Dwork!”  He seemed to hear her, he turned and had this simple little smile on his face.  Kiara said and tried to tell him that we needed him, and that he shouldn’t go.  Tyr came over to Kiara and ran his finger down her face and a comforting kind of way, and the vision was over, every thing was dark.  Kiara started crying, while Fillpot started walking towards the water, Jei-pa followed and Fillpot threw the prayer beads into the water, where they were lost.  They walked back to camp, Jei-pa decided that we needed to get to Lindorin in a hurry.  Jei-pa ran back to camp, picked up Dwork’s body and started walking in the direction of Lindorin.  Fillpot and Kiara talked with him a while as he walked, he eventually gave Dwork to Fillpot, but kept walking.  A couple of other people walked with him and tried to ask him questions, but he would not answer.  Eventually it was Lornah and I who walked with him, then Mannon’s cat.  Soon Jei-pa and us spoke, and Lornah asked if it would be preferable for her to stay with the party, Jei-pa said yes, and she left to help guard the party.  Then Jei-pa sent Mannon’s cat away.  He and I walked all night, the rest of the party went to sleep.

Day 19 – April 25 Monday

Before every one woke up, Fillpot set the guards free, and told them to leave.  The guy that didn’t have his legs broken started to run off, Fillpot nailed him in the back with Dwork's Dwarven Thrower and went over to him and told him, “You both leave together or you die.”  The guy looked confused and then picked up the guy with broken legs and started to run off, he was having a little trouble with it but he managed.  Every one was woken up after that and they packed up and left.  Jei-pa and I were still walking along, I eventually gave out, and Jei-pa started carrying me, I fell asleep on his shoulders.  A couple of hours later he woke me up and gave me his “Gauntlets of Ogre Power” and then I carried him.  A couple of hours later we were in town, I woke up Jei-pa and gave him his gauntlets back and we went to the sanctuary.  We talked for a minute, Jei-pa was sent out, and I talked for a while longer. I was sent out after a while, Jei-pa and I went to the inn and got some sleep.  The party arrived soon after that, they talked with the same people and they were told that…

I was sent for soon after that, the guild wished to speak to me (save vs. heart attack).  I was spoken to in the way that this mission was injuring my honor and not sanctioned by the guild.  So I was re-assigned.  Now I am to be and escort for a prince in another society.  He wishes to visit our society and I am to be his guard.

Met up with the party and we talked about our current situation and made some decisions.  We sold the non-magical items, then sold some other stuff and we acquired enough gold to get the magical items identified.  One of the item that we found was a “Staff of the Magi.”  Then we looked over the items that we had to figure out what we were going to sell to pay for resurrection of Dwork.

I have now been reassigned to another mission due to difficulties of my previous assignment.

Dwork is alive now, and we are very happy that he is ok.  But his resurrection came at a high price.  5000 gold and the two scouts of the party.
