burning man 2004
Funny how things start showing up
So, this is another set of pictures that I found about 3 years after they were actually taken. I don't recall all of the details of all of these pics, but I'll do my best.

Getting to Burning Man

All along the coast
This was the first year that I actually traveled to Burning Man from Seattle while actually living in Seattle. The previous two years we drove from Iowa. This year, we decided to take our time and drive down the coast into northern California on Highway 101. We'd never driven down the coast, so it took a very long time - lots of little towns and lots of reasons to stop and take pictures.

Here are some of the previously mentioned pictures:

Across northern California and through the mountains
Once we hit northern California we started heading east to get to Nevada. This was an interesting part of the trip. Through the mountains my little old Saturn started overheating a couple of times and we had to stop to let her rest a bit. There was also a lot of construction going on, causing us to have to stop for up to an hour before they let traffic through. At one construction site, a semi fell tail first down the side of the mountain. The front of the truck was about 10-20 ft below the edge of the road.

And, some more pics of the trip...

Dusty, dusty, dusty, dusty, dusty, dusty...

You get it? It is DUSTY!
This year there was little to know rain on the playa. This caused the playa to be thicker than normal with dust. This year, it was also very window. Guess what happens when an inch of incredibly fine dust meets 50mph winds. You guessed it, massive dust storms. The dust storms this year were almost non-stop. And to make things even better, I managed to develop a sinus infection.

But still managed to take some dusty and dust-free pics:

Burn night
The night of the burn was the worst night of the week for me. I managed to make it out to the burn and to roam around a little bit. But for the most part, I just hung out at camp trying to not feel like crap.

And I managed to get some more pics...
