Blankenship Meadows Ramble 09/2005

Friday 09/016/2005 - Day 1

Getting there
The Blankenship Meadows Ramble is a loop hike in the William O. Douglas Wilderness near Mt. Rainier National Park. The logging road to the trail head was very rough and it took us a couple of hours for the last few miles to the trail head.

Saturday 09/017/2005 - Day 2

Trailhead
We camped at the trailhead the first night. Luckily, the trailhead had open campsites with picnic tables and firepits. There was also a small stream running near the campsites with fresh water. We started our hike up the side of the mountain.
Here are some pics:

Discovering the first lake
The first lake we came to had a huge camping area next to it. The trail was a horse friendly trail and there were a lot of horses and camps next to the lake. So we took some pics and kept moving.

Sunday 09/018/2005 - Day 3

Camping at the second lake
We camped at the second lake. We were pretty tired from the climb so we went to bed early as the fog was rolling in. We woke up and it was still dark. I though it was probably around 2 or 3am, but it turned out to be only 11pm. I went ahead and had dinner since I hadn't eaten before I went to sleep. It was incredibly cold.

Heading back home
We missed the trail to complete the loop and ended up adding another mile or two to our hike.
