Getting to San Diego
I was a little worried about this trip from the beginning. Over the last year, every single time I've flew into California, my flight was canceled, delayed, or I got stranded at a different airport than the one I was to land at. Rather than dealing with the bus, I took the Shuttle Express from work to the airport. I got there on time. I found the counter to get my boarding pass. There was no line. I headed up to the security screening area. It was a bit warm, but the line was short. I walked to my gate. There was a seat right in front of the news on tv. They started boarding the plane. There was an extra seat in my row. I ended up talking with the lady next to me and ordered a jack and coke. We talked about boats. My flight landed. Bryan picked me up. It was very odd. Nothing went wrong with my flight.

We met up with a friend of Bryan's later that evening to head to a club. The line was long. The line didn't move much. We crossed the street and went to a different bar. We had drinks. Listened to music. Went home. A good start to the week in Cali.

Brunch and Mimosas
Dana and Kioni came over in the morning. Karen and Dana started making brunch. We started drinking. Three hours later, the food was ready. Chris, Tim, and Rand showed up. Somebody pulled out a marker and started writing on people. Before long, there was sharpie on just about everybody - I managed to stay ink free.

UPDATE: Tim was murdered on 7/13/2007. You can visit his tribute site here. Here is the crime stoppers report as well.

After drinking
We had initially planned on hanging out on Matt's boat today. I think the three hour cooking and the large number of drinks just left us unable to drive and too tired to go anywhere anyways. Even the dogs were tired.

Yesterday was the 4th, right?
All we did today was just hang out and recover from the day before. We were going to go to the movies, but that fell through. Bryan and I took the dogs to the park and played a lot of Madden on the xbox. I like playing Madden. It's fun!

Dogs to the vet and hair cuts at the beach
Bryan and I took the dogs to the vet and decided to head down to Ocean Beach for the day. We both decided we wanted to get haircuts and ended up getting $10 haircuts for the low price of $30 in OB. We spent most of the rest of the day hanging out at the beach, playing pool at the bar, and getting a few drinks with Matt and his dad.

When I grow up I want to be,one of the harvesters of the sea.
Today was a very interesting day for me. I have a tendancy to not want to mess with animals. I don't eat, hunt, or tend to bother animals. But, for some reason, today I decided that I wanted to fish. I have never been out on a boat in the ocean. I have never fished in the ocean. I decided to go ahead and do it. I fished. We fished for about 8 hours. We started off with live bait fish on the floor of the ocean. When we ran out of those, we started using lures that stay just below the surface. I caught a rather large fish with the live bait - well, large for me since my experience fishing as a kid was all in Lake Houston. I then caught about 5 or 6 smaller fish with lures.

The day started out cloudy. I didn't put on sun block. I got burned. Pretty bad.

Party at Kate's
After taking a nap, we went over to Kate's. It was an interesting night. We played some game called Loaded Questions. Here's how it works. Someone writes down a bunch of questions. One person reads the question. Everybody except the one to the left of the reader writes down the answer to the question and gives the paper to the reader. The reader reads off the answers. The one to the left of the ready guesses who gave which answer. It sounds a bit corny, but was actually a lot of fun.

Here are the pics from the party. I'll eventually get the videos up, but don't feel like dealing with that now.

What was it I did last night?
I woke up today feeling like CRAP! While at the coffee shop across from Bryan's, we ran into some people doing a Free Market in the park down the street. I love the concept. It really reminds me of the burner events. You bring stuff with which you'd like to part. You then give it away, trade it, or have someone do something for you in exchange for your item. No money is involved. I like that. When we got home, I went back to bed. At some point, someone decided to wake me up with a camera. I don't actually remember the picture being taken, but it looks like I was awake and had a dog in bed with me.

Here's the pic:

Feeling better. Lets do karaoke!
We went to Winston's for drinks for my last night in SD. Nathaniel works there as a bouncer. It was a good evening. We got there early. Most of the folks left before the music started. Bryan and I stayed till the bar closed.

Much better... feels like Cali
We got home from the bar around 2:30am. My flight leaves at 6:30am. Guess what happened? Bryan's alarm didn't go off. he wakes me up at 6:00am. I'm gonna miss my flight. I call the airlines, get my flight changed. I'm gonna miss work today. I do some work from SD, but spend most of the day playing Madden with Bryan. We get to the airport on time. I get through security okay. I get to the gate. The flight is delayed. I sit at the gate for an extra 20-30 minutes. We board. We sit at the gate for another hour. We taxi out to the runway. We set there for another 15-20 minutes. This feels much more like flying in California. The girl next to me on the plane is coming back from doing missionary work in Mexico. We have some interesting discussions for most of the flight. I now own a missionary book. I get home around 9:30pm and don't want to cook. I get Thai food and realize this has been one of the best weeks I've had in quite some time. yeah... good times.
