 | The Durham Arts Council (DAC) is a non-profit arts
administration agency which provides grants funding and facility space
for local arts organizations. The DAC also offers a full schedule of
arts education programs and cultural activities for the general
public, including Centerfest, an annual outdoor arts festival held in
downtown Durham in September. In addition to office space, the DAC
facility houses an art gallery, studio space, a rehearsal hall,
several meeting rooms and a theater available for private rental.
Fund raising
The Durham Arts Council United Arts Fund is the community's annual
campaign for the arts. This volunteer-driven community fund-raising
effort administered by Durham Arts Council supports the Council's
programs and services. Contributions are received from individuals,
corporations, foundations, the City of Durham and the North Carolina
Arts Council, a state agency. A variety of DAC grant programs support
the work of area artists and arts organizations. |
