RAINBOW BRIDGE
There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth. It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of its many colours. Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge there is a land of meadows, hills and valleys with lush green grass.
When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place. There is always food and water and warm spring weather. The old and frail animals are young again. Those who are maimed are made whole again. They play all day with each other.
There is only one thing missing. They are not with their special person who loved them on Earth. so, each day they run and play until the day comes when one suddenly stops playing and looks up! The nose twitches! The ears are up! The eyes are staring! And this one suddenly runs from the Group!
You have been seen, and when you and your special friend meet, you take him or her up in your arms and embrace. Your face is kissed again and again and again, and you look once more into the eyes of your trusting pet.
Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together, never to be separated.

Ben our dear Beagle
About Ben
Ben lived to a ripe old age, despite having a chequered history. When he was only six months old, he almost died when a well meaning person gave him raw rib bones. He was extremely ill with torn intestines. With lots of TLC, he recovered to live a life of total mischief. He was a happy athlete who liked to walk along the top of walls, climb ladders and could even use the children's climbing frame at our local park. A more skilled escapologist than Houdini, he could clamber over 8 ft walls, tunnel under any obstacle and open gates by sliding the iron bolts with his head. Once the obstacles were surmounted, he would head for the horizon. Unfortunately, on one of his forays he was struck by a car, very seriously injured and eventually lost a leg. None of this affected his joie de vivre and he lived a happy life until he succumbed to cancer at the age of 12. There will never be another "Ben".
If only I could hear the patter of your feet once more, softly walking across the floor
