Aaliyah Dana Haughton was born on January 16, 1979, to Diane and Michael Haughton. The name Aaliyah means highest and most exalted, the best. Aaliyah's everything her brother "Rashad" was her best friend. She attended Detroit Performing Arts School and starred in school plays as a child. At the age of 15 she released her first Album "Age ain't nothing but a number." Her second Album named "One in a million" released in July 17, 1996, opened doors and broke Aaliyah away from R.Kelly. One in a million, set guidelines. She occurred in many soundtracks.In October the "Anastasia "was released. "e;Journey to the past"e; sang by Aaliyah was nominated for a grammy. She became the youngest person to ever perform a Grammy nominated song at an awards! In 1998 "Are you that somebody" was released" for the Dr. Dolittle Movie. This earned Aaliyah her second nomination for a Grammy. She later would star in her own movie with her own songs for the Soundtrack for the Movie "Romeo Must Die." Aaliyah was nominated for "Try Again" which was from the soundtrack of "Romeo Must Die." After her amazing performance Joel Silver signed her for 2 of the upcoming "Matrix" sequels. She was also cast in Anne Rice's "Queen of the Damned," which was her last acting performance. She was also going to remake the 1970s version of "Sparkle." On July 17, 2001. Aaliyah released her 3rd Album "Aaliyah." All of her albums are Double Platinum and still going. Aaliyah was filming her latest video "Rock the boat" in the Bahamas. On August 25th directly after finishing the video, between the hours of 5 and 6 p.m. Aaliyah Haughton and 8 other friends boarding a small private plane, ended their life in a second. This was one of the days that Music died. Aaliyah was only 22 years old. I believe that Aaliyah Dana Haughton was one of the greatest!
