THE DREAM

After Link had defeated the evil tyrant Ganon, he set out on a quest for enlightenment. On the voyage home, there was a terrible storm, and Link’s ship was destroyed. As the only survivor, he drifted onto a beach. There, he set out on an incredible journey, in an attempt to awaken the Wind Fish, who had the powers to let him off the island. Throughout this adventure, he learned that he was trapped inside the dreams of the Wind Fish, and that the dream was being invaded by nightmares. However, even after he escaped the island, he couldn’t be sure that it was all a dream. As he was thinking about these things, floating on a broken piece of wood in the middle of the ocean, a large object blocked out the sun’s rays. As he looked up, he saw the Wind Fish, flying through the sky.

Was it or wasn’t it a dream? Well, I have thought long and hard about this, and I have come to this conclusion: It is my opinion that Link himself was not dreaming, but was actually stuck inside the dream of the Wind Fish. I think that maybe the Wind Fish had a special power that made the person inside his dream think of things in his life. For instance, Link mistook Marin for Zelda, and Tarin reminds me of the bumbling Talon. Then there’s the Stalchildren from Hyrule, who were in the dungeons. The miniboss of Catfish’s Maw was a Stalfos. Tal Tal Heights was similar to Death Mountain. As in the original Zelda, one of the levels (Angler’s Cavern) was hidden behind a waterfall. In the water there were Zoras firing fireballs at him (in the original Zelda they did this, and in Zelda, A Link to the Past, they did this plus tried to eat Link, but in Ocarina of Time, the Zora are friendly). There was the castle, similar to Hyrule Castle. There was the owl, guardian of the Wind Fish’s dreams, who reminds me of Kaepora Gaebora. There were fairies, there were Tektites, and the weapon lists between the games were very similar. The miniboss in Angler’s Cavern is similar to the miniboss Inside Lord Jabbu Jabbu’s belly.

Tell me your thoughts on this subject.
