The Sun

• NEVER look at the Sun directly or through binoculars or a telescope

  • use pinhole or binocular projection onto a card
  • or a proper full-aperture solar filter (NOT eyepiece filters)

• Sunspots - we’re near the peak of the 11-year cycle - use binocular projection

• Aurora Borealis - 2 days warning

• Noctilucent clouds

• Sundials - an interesting spinoff
