thursday - full collapse
rating: 5/5
thursday is one of those bands that makes you think...they can best be described as emocore. the singer has kind of a womanly voice, and hes really
emotional about everything. when he screams, sometimes his voice cracks. this cd featured dual guitars at
their best. drumming is good, and bass lines are too. the cd boasts some incredible melodies and great
catchy, although usually sad, songs. this review sucks but i cant really say anything except 'buy this cd'.

lost prophets - the fake sound of progress
rating: 4/5
lost prophets is a UK metal band...theyre prettygood, i had my doubts when i first listened to them...to
compare them to a band id have to say theyre a mix between old incubus and glassjaw. drums are peppy and
fast paced, singing is great with lots of vocal harmonies, guitar work is good, a nice heavy crunchy
sound.  you cant really hear much from the bass, but you dont really miss it much...my only problem with
the cd is that it can do without a few songs, and i dont mean the 'interlude' tracks that feature about a
minute of scratching and samples...songs are very catchy, very very catchy...almost a pop kind of sound
to them, but still nice and heavy to be called metal. the only problem is lack of availability of the
cd...you can get it on amazon...once they get on a bigger label, they will take over the world. dont
forget, you heard about them first, here.

tool - lateralus
rating: 5/5
tools new cd was one of the most anticipated cds ever, and rightfully so...this cd is pure art. with this cd
tool can be compared to another band, and that would be pink floyd.  the band covers a broad spectrum of
sounds with this release. some songs are slow and soft, such as 'disposition', while another, 'ticks and
leeches', is definately tools most angry song. maynard reaches his vocal peak on this cd, he goes from soft
crooning to actual screams. drummer danny carey got a double bass and he uses it every chance possible.
lateralus is by far the most percussion-heavy cd i have ever heard. guitar and bass are worked
beautifully around each other, sometimes you cant tell whether the guitar or bass is playing, like in the
lead off track 'the grudge'...the only thing i have a problem with on the cd is adam jones' guitar solos,
sometimes they sound kind of reptative, but its tolerable and this cd is amust have.

static x - machine
rating: 4/5
static x is one of the coolest bands out there. theyre nice and heavy and they like to put metal songs to
disco, almost techno beats. with this new cd, they push heavily on "techno/industrial". alot of fast
beats, alot of fast heavy songs. waynes vocals are again, top notch, guitar work is nice and fast. drums
are amazing, and the team between guitar and drums probably carry this cd. the intro track is kind of
funny, a little mexican music going right into waynce scream on 'get to the gone'. the cd is great, face
paced, fun to listen to...only its a little repetitive...you can only have so many songs when you
use the top 4 frets on the guitar. still a great cd.

staind - break the cycle
rating: 1/5
staind has sold out. i knew that once 'outside' came out and was a huge hit. 'outside' brought in another 2
million sales oif 'dysfunction' from people who like acoustic stuff and fred durst. so they said 'hey
people like our acoustic shit, lets do that and get more money!'...now you have songs like 'its been
awhile' and there you have it...the cd has 2 impressive songs, probably some of the best metal
songs i have heard, 'pressure' and 'cant believe'(theyre on that list that numbers about a
hundred). other than those 2 songs, every other song is acoustic, or rock...the rock songs are trying to be
metal, but if you listen to the difference between 'pressure' and any of the other would-be metal songs
on the cd, you can tell the difference. and on top of all of that, the lyrics totally suck. what could be
worse. hope you enjoy your play time on z-100, staind, because youre not a metal band in my book anymore.
