Update News: March 7th, 2004
Not so much an update as a recovery process. You see, in Yahoo! GeoCities infinate wisdom, they deleted my page and all of my files. YAY FOR MORONS! Between Google's caching feature and some old copies I had I was able to restore most of my page, but I am not sure what updates I had lost. The Final Fantasy VII page I don't think I'll be able to recover since Google does not have a cache of that - too bad, had some decent tips on it. Sure glad I'm not paying for this lousy service.

Moral of the Story: GOOGLE > yahoo

Update News: April 24th, 2001
Well, it has been a full 4 months since I updated this last, and quite frankly it should not have taken that long since I had stuff I wanted to add/change to this site. Including correcting the information about the Southern Cross armor in the Special Items section. Tiamats and Wyverns were added to the Neutral Character section. I added additional locations to the following: Sphinxes, Gorgons, and Goblins. Updated some info, mostly in the Chaos Frame section.

Why Ogre Battle FAQ?
This is as much for myself as anyone else. I am obtaining a lot of information from http://ogrebattle64.8k.com's bulletin board which I would like in one place so it easy to find. Also, I am tired of answering the same questions there over and over, hence the Ogre Battle Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page. This FAQ is going take the position that the reader has at least read the manual and/or at least knows how to do basic navigating in the game. Hugo's Report is also a good source of information, as is the game Tutorial.

This page is no way intended to steal visitors from other sites, just to provide answers to FAQ. If you own a website on Ogre Battle, feel free to email me your URL for a link addition.

NOTES:
Following the paths I have listed here will ***NOT*** guarantee the desired ending! Many things affect what game ending will be. Read my Chaos Frame section for IDEAS on how to obtain the desired ending. Taking certain paths over others is considered a decision point and does affect your ending. This is why I have 3 sections up, 1 for best/good ending, 1 for the middle of the road ending, and 1 for bad/evil ending.

For the Good Path I chose Vert Plateau simply because I believe that getting Europea looks better than getting Paul, but let me say something real quick ...you CAN receive a CF of 100 and have Paul. Remember this is ONLY my *recommendations* and should NOT be taken as gospel. I am basing this off of my experience and the many others who have told me what they did. For the good ending, Liberate as many towns as you can during the mission! Get as many items as you can and get all the special characters you can. Make peace with your father, recruit him. Justice is a virtue and live by that motto, think White Knight!

For the Middle Path I said you can choose Capitrium or Tremos Mts.#1 simply b/c I don't think it matters. The only thing that matters really is which character you want. Read my Special Characters section for the details of Paul and Biske. Choose which ever path makes you happy. This path will probably be hardest. I guess all I can say is, just be mediocre in everything you do. Liberate half the towns, make some good decisions and some bad decisions. Let it even out. Yin Yang is the key philosophy for this one.

For the Evil Path I say again it is your decision on Capitrium or Tremos Mts.#1. Mostly depends on which characters you like the best. This path has the least amount of stages. I did leave Sable Lowlands up there so you can get the Black Knight class. Tis the only stage where you get the equipment for this class. The "Bonus Stage" is where you are completely evil and you have to fight the Zenobians (Destin, Gilbert, Saradin, Aisha, and Debonair). I don't know where the fight takes place and what the exact requirements are. I heard you can't have any of the Zenobians. I am not sure if you can still have Dio or not. Also when faced with the decision on whether to "Follow Orders" and fight your father or not, DO IT! Follow Orders! Capture many towns ...be a bad boy/girl!

WHAT IS CHAOS FRAME?
Chaos Frame (CF) is a numerical representative of how you play the game. You can not see this number till after you beat the game. How you affect the Chaos Frame is how you choose the storyline. Yes, there are multiple storyline paths, in case you did not know. Chaos Frame decides what characters may join your cause and of course your overall ending, yes there are multiple endings in case you were unaware - 3 main endings (varies a little by what special characters you have collected).

So how exactly is Chaos Frame affected? There are many ways to change Chaos Frame, some have more affect then others ...and no, I do not know the weight scale but I can tell you what affects Chaos Frame to the best of my knowledge. By the way, Chaos Frame is a controversal subject to many OB players. Since I did not program this game, this is only what I believe up to this point.

  1. Liberating/Capturing Towns - Before you go to liberate a town, view the town's morale so can decide which unit to send.

    To increase CF

    • Send Lawful units to towns w/ about 66-100 morale.
    • Send Neutral units to towns w/ about 33-66 morale.
    • Send Chaotic units to towns w/ about 0-33 morale.
    • When in doubt, just remember... ALI should = Morale or close to it. Game is a little forgiving. I believe there is around 20pt slack. Questimate the ALI of the unit by the characters comprising it. Average it out the best you can and send a unit that falls in the slack range. So for example, say you have a unit in which everyone in it has 100 ALI ( scrolls of discipline can NOT be used on anyone ) so the unit ALI would be 100. Send this unit to a town w/ 80 morale or higher. The slack range would be 80-100.

    To lower CF
    • Reverse the above.

    The Rumor (according to Diedrupo):
    • Liberating a Town raises CF +2
    • Capturing a Town lowers CF -1
    • Enemy Capturing a Town lowers CF -3

Since you can not see the actual number for ALI, and just see a scale on the character's stat screen I have some techniques for you. This must be done in the 'Organize Screen' ...not dispatched on the battle field, you'll see why I say this. One technique is if the character is class changeable, choose "Change Class". On the class change screen you see a more descriptive scale. This scale is used to show you if your character falls in the correct ALI range for the desired class w/ yellow being the mandatory range. See that arrow up top of the scale? The far left side of the bar means 0 ALI. The far right is 100 ALI. The arrow points to the current ALI of the character. So if the arrow is all the way to the right than that character has 100 ALI.

What if the character is not class changeable like Magnus? Well then you must use the scale on the character stat screen, BUT you can tell if these special characters have 0 or 100 ALI. If they have 0 ALI then you can not use the Urn of Chaos on him/her. If their ALI is 100 than you can not use the Scroll of Discipline on him/her.

In the beggining of the game, you most likely will not have pure Lawful or Chaotic (where scale reads 'L' or 'C') units so send units whose ALI best reflects the needed ALI/ requirement as this will lead to 'Liberation' (raises CF). Do the opposite, sending a Lawful unit to a town with a morale of 10, and it will be 'Captured' (lowers CF). Also, try your hardest to liberate ALL of the towns during the battle. Yes, it automatically liberates/captures all the towns when you capture the enemy's headquarters but for a higher CF, liberate them manually during battle. Also, DO NOT get *your* strongholds re-captured, as this will lower CF.

Neutral strongholds, which are designated as the Green color on Hugo's maps, can ONLY be captured since 'Liberation' means "to set free". You have three choices w/ these. 1) Do nothing w/ them during the mission, this is the easiest but not always the best ...especially since it may have a Shop or Witch's Den. 2) Let the enemy Capture it, then you can liberate it afterwards. Harder and more annoying and sometimes takes time. 3) Just capture the stupid thing. Personally, I do all three depending on the map and situations but I leave it up to you to decide what you think is best.

  2. Magnus' Characteristics - In the Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen (1st OB), it was important to have the hero's ALI and Charm as high as possible to obtain 'special characters'. After doing some tests with Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber, I doubt it is an issue anymore. But now... I am re-thinking this yet again! I know the "Luck" attribute is hidden from us (Goblet of Destiny proves this), and now I am beginning to think the Charm attribute is hidden as well. The ALI number, the actual number, is hidden from us. I think the only reason ALI is not hidden is b/c we need this for certain Class Changes. How did you raise ALI and Charm in the old game? Simply have your hero's unit (this case Magnus' unit) always fight enemies higher in level and lower in ALI.
  3. Decisions - This probably has the biggest factor on your CF. There are quite a few decisions in the game that can make you look good and many that won't. Sometimes the right the decision is not always the most popular so decisions can be hard. If you want a high CF, try and do what you believe is the right thing. Don't forget to take all things into consideration. Pay attention to what people say because sometimes what may seem like an innocent act is really a bad judgement call.

When your given multiple paths to choose, choosing a path can alter which 'special characters' are recruitable or not. Some paths can lower CF and some might raise it.

One early event that *MIGHT* affect CF is in Mission 2, "Sparks", where you rescue Yumil from Volmous Mine, Ishro. Another unit can do it, but it might be better if Magnus' unit liberates Ishro rescueing Yumil himself. After all they were childhood friends. Not proven yet, but if you are starting another game and going for a HIGH CF then give it a try ...can't hurt, right? =) (credit: Dustin-Destin)
  4. Special Characters - Obtaining what I call 'Special Characters' (like Destin, Aisha, Saradin, etc.) can raise or lower CF.
  5. Special Items - When someone in the game says that it might be a wise thing to get a certain item, most likely it is a wise thing to do. Example? The Elem Pedras. The Southern Cross is another item that might be worth getting. I explain how to get the Southern Cross in the Special Items section.
  6. Area Inspection - Investigate areas after you cleared them. Sometimes important events and items await your return. A good habit is to 'Enter Stronghold' multiple times b/c sometimes town's people say different things on multiple returns and sometimes depending on the unit you send, not all the time mind you.
  7. Demon Units - I always belived recruiting demon units like Ogres, Gorgons, etc (netherworld dwellers)... would lower your Chaos Frame. I mean you get hints of this during the game, like when you liberate Alba. Here is what another player says (good info, read)...

"When you get demon units a new section opens up in the list class section. I think by getting any demon unit you damage your chaos frame (It sure damaged mine, 0 CF =( ) So, although it's not proven, I would put a warning label on the demon units that they may affect your chaos frame." (credit: AA7Dragoon)

CyricZ has informed that he has a Goblin and a Sphinx in the game he got a 100 CF from. A Sphinx is in the beast class so basically he just had 1 demon unit. With only 1 demon unit, he may have raised his CF back up w/ subsequent missions, who knows. Maybe it is just Ogres or maybe they don't have an affect at all. Don't know till I have time to do tests of my own. When I do have time, what I will do is this... beat the game, note what my CF is. Recruit a wild Ogre, beat the last stage as identical as possible and see if the CF changes. If you would like to do this and let me know, I tried but I absolutely could not find a stupid ogre in the wild. No more L&Ps either.

"It seems that for netherworld units to hurt your cf youd have to get a lot of em, which cyricz didnt and so he could easily raise it back up by liberating a bunch of towns." - TalonFFL3
  8. Reputation Meter - Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen (1st OB), had a reputation meter (No, it wasn't your CF) that helped guide the storyline along. If it fell too much than a more evil route was available to you. According to the manual for Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen, "a full reputation meter is only one requirement to getting the best ending." Interesting huh? The manual also mentions that you must obtain certain Special Characters, Special Items, and your hero must have the correct attributes (high ALI and Charm). So CF was most likely all of these things combined into one score. We know 'Luck' still exists even tho it is hidden, if you don't believe me than use a Goblet of Destiny and it will say "Luk Up" or "Luk Down". The actual number for ALI is hidden. Makes ya wonder if Charm is hidden. So maybe the Reputation meter still exists but is hidden as well. This might explain the discrepency people see in why they can obtain the so called "high CF required" Special Characters but get a 0 CF. Reputation Meter was easy to drop in Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen. Maybe Special Characters are dependent on the Reputation Meter. This is just a theory right now and have nothing to prove it, that is why I am putting this at the end of the CF section.

HOW DO I RAISE/LOWER ALIGNMENT (ALI)?
ALI is how your character views the world w/ Lawful being what the character views as the 'right' thing, Chaotic being that the character doesn't give a hoot what the right thing is, and Neutral being in the middle. So just because they are the enemy does not mean they can not have a Paladin on their side; because that Paladin will believe he is doing the right thing by trying to stop you.

RAISING Alignment: (Most Effective to Least)

  1. Kill enemies w/ a lower ALI
  2. Group w/ others higher in ALI
  3. Kill enemies higher in level
  4. Use Scroll of Discipline
  5. Kill enemies w/ Attack Strongest or Leader

LOWERING Alignment: (Most Effective to Least)
  1. Kill enemies w/ a higher ALI
  2. Group w/ others lower in ALI
  3. Kill enemies lower in level
  4. Use Urn of Chaos
  5. Kill enemies w/ Attack Weakest
  6. Attack sleeping enemies
  7. Attack leaderless enemies

Killing units has THE most effect on ALI. If a knight gets the killing blow on something that has a lower ALI than the knight's, than the knight's ALI will indeed increase. This is why once your characters get either extremely lawful or extremely chaotic they tend to stay that way because most enemy units are not maxed on ALI one way or the other. The only time I can see where this MIGHT conflict is when there is a big difference in levels between your character and the enemy character, say like 10 levels or more.

Grouping w/ Lawful characters tends to raise ALI of lower alignment characters. Grouping w/ Chaotic characters, or even characters with just a plain lower ALI will lower someone's ALI if it is higher. So there is kind of a balancing effect going on. But the killing factor takes more presedence. So say you have a Paladin (Lawful) paired up with a Ghost (Chaotic) - normally the Paladin will lower in Ali if he gets no kills but if he gets the killing blow on a Chaotic character than his Ali will raise, for that battle.

So say, somehow you ended up w/ a Lawful Sorceress and she needs to be Chaotic so she can class change to a Siren. Put her in a unit full of chaotic characters and have her kill Lawful characters ...and if possible lower level lawful characters. If you have no chaotic characters, than recruit some neutral ones. Ghosts, Skeletons, Pumpkin Heads, Black Dragons are great choices. I guess you could even use a Gremlin, but they kinda suck. Heck I even cycle my dragons and golems just to bring the ALI down of the others in that group.

It is often a good idea to have a couple of units of Lawful, Chaotic, and Neutral. Not just for fighting, but for liberating towns as well.

WHERE DO I GET THE ELEM PEDRAS?
What are they? They are the elements that protect and give your characters strength. They are also a 'special attack' to be used. Most likely you will NOT be able to use the attack until a good while into the game (well into Chapter 1 or beginning of Chapter 2) simply because the battles do not last long enough and the enemies don't cause enough damage. Don't worry tho, you'll have more than enough opportunities later on, more than you care for. You start off with the 1st Pedra, depending on how you answered Hugo's last question in the very beggining of the game. Later on you will be able to collect the others. Read below for that info.

Obtaining the other Elem Pedras:

  • 2nd Pedra:
Train Magnus' unit at Mylesia (after mission 4)
You will have to train a total of 5 times, most likely, before you fight a unit w/ a Dragon Master and a powerful dragon. Some TIPS: 1) You can train other units in the first 4 battles, but make sure Magnus trains the 5th time, and 2) The dragon is usually pretty darn powerful. The dragon will be related to the Elem Pedra you are fighting for, so if you see a Queztcoatl then you know which Elem Pedra you are fighting for, the Wind Pedra.

What I did for the second Elem Pedra was put two Clerics (one was Katreda) in Magnus' unit as well as Asnabel on the far left first row so he could strike the dragon. I equiped him w/ a Flame Flail that I earned defeating a stage and the Helm of the Fearless (Gunther Piedmont, Kinseya). But the key was putting a Ghost in the back row w/ the battle strategy, "Attack Strongest". I had to fight a Hydra and it kept doing major damage to all my people and putting them to sleep and couldn't win (Magnus was lvl 7 at time), but when I put the ghost in the unit the ghost kept the Hydra asleep ...he he heh. Since it is training, I did not take an ALI hit for having a Chaotic ghost in my unit and I got the Pedra with no trouble. =)
  • 3rd Pedra:
Train Magnus' unit at Mount Ithaca (after mission 15)
  • 4th Pedra:
Train Magnus' unit at Gules Hills (after mission 20)
  • Pedra of Bane:

    1. Soathon, Jiram - Talk to kid about his missing dog (after Mission 12)
    2. Soathon, Jiram - Take a unit w/ a hellhound in it to the kid to receive the Pedra of Bane. Any hellhound will do, they can be found in the Barren lands ...in case you need to find one.

  • Pedra of Virtue:

    1. Gules Hills, Muji - Talk w/ man about his daughter in Volmus Mine (after Mission 20).
    2. Volmous Mine, Volmous Mine - Look for daughter, discover she has gone to Mount Ithaca (after Mission 20).
    3. Mount Ithaca, Caltovich - Deliver letter from man to daughter to get Pedra of Virtue (after Mission 20).

Steps in Keeping Dio
  1. Tell Rhade you can NOT kill Fredrick Raskin. If you say, "..." to Rhade's demand then Dio will see you as someone with no backbone to stand up to the nobility, like Rhade.

  2. Some say you must also 'not' agree to fight Dio at the beginning of the game. While personally I agree this looks good, someone on a Bulletin Board (BB) did mention they agreed to fight Dio but said no to killing Raskin, versus "..."; and still kept Dio.

  3. If you do 'not' fight Dio but say, "..." to Rhade you lose Dio and he comes back as a boss, a dragoon no less. (credit: Thermogimp)

  4. If you agree to fight Dio and say, "..." then chances are you will lose Dio for sure and follow the Anti-Zenobian route (no Zenobian 'special characters' like Destin, Gilbert, and Saradin for example). I have heard that some have made these choices and still kept Dio. So Dio might just be dependent on what other choices might make. Like the decision to escort Prince Yumil in the Prologue of the game. And maybe having Magnus' unit save Yumil himself (1st Volmus Mine). I think saying "..." to Raskin has the most effect (negative one at that). BUT, I think even if you choose "..." but do everything else right then you can still keep Dio.

Interesting Conversations
  1. Rhade in Mylesia #2 and Mt. Ithaca - rival BIG TIME!

Quest Item
  1. None that I know of.
NOTES:
Dio upgrades to a Warrior at the beginning of Chapter 3 gaining one more attack in the front row.

  1. During the the 7th Mission battle in Gunther Piedmont, go to the town Cayes and accept Katreda's help so she can help her father.

Interesting Conversations
  1. None that I know of.

Quest Item
  1. Gunther Piedmont, Inekell Take Katreda's unit to Inekell after finishing the stage for the Angel's Brooch. (after Mission 7)
NOTES:
Decent Cleric. Opens the Cleric class for you if you don't already have one. She seems pretty weak for a Cleric, her abilities do go up if you pair her up w/ her father, Asnabel, in the same group. Not sure what good the Angel's Brooch is. She can't wear it, unless you change her class, and it lowers INT. Maybe there is some hidden factor. Get it for the hell of it.

For the Interesting Conversations dialogue, sometimes you must fight the person more than one time because bosses tend to have a speech prepared for any joe blow who is the first attacker. Try not to kill them too soon. Choose 'Attack Strongest' if you have to. Or even Retreat during the battle.

Asnabel Birall

Class/es

Found on Which Stage

  1. Beserker
  2. What ever you want him to be.

  • Gunther Piedmont

Steps in Obtaining
  1. After defeating the boss of the stage in Gunther Piedmont, Asnabel will ask to join you if you talked w/ Katreda during the mission. DarkKirby informs me that you do not need Katreda to get Asnabel. Don't know why you wouldn't want her, but hey... there ya go.

Interesting Conversations
  1. None that I know of.

Quest Item
  1. Gunther Piedmont, Kinseya Take Asnabel's unit to Kinseya after you complete the stage to receive the Helm of the Fearless. (after Mission 7)
NOTES:
Great Beserker in the beginning of the game. Opens the Beserker class for you if you don't already have one. Even better when you get the Helm of the Fearless. One of the best helms, not the best but definately worth having.

For the Interesting Conversations dialogue, sometimes you must fight the person more than one time because bosses tend to have a speech prepared for any joe blow who is the first attacker. Try not to kill them too soon. Choose 'Attack Strongest' if you have to. Or even Retreat during the battle.

3 WAY PATH NOW:

  1. Choose Sable Lowlands first.
  2. Choose Audvera Heights second.
  3. Choose Mount Ithaca third.

Liedel Klein

Class/es

Found on Which Stage

  1. Archer
  2. What ever you want her to be.

  • Sable Lowlands

Steps in Obtaining
  1. In Sable Lowlands, she is the boss of the stage and hates Magnus for interesting reasons. It seems to be apparent that you must have a High or Mid-High Chaos Frame to obtain her. Since sooo many people have problems recruiting her I am going to list all of things I did prior to this mission that I think *MIGHT* affect CF. Jesuits has informed me that she didn't do some of these and still obtained her. Just listing these for FYI:

    • Chose NOT to fight Dio in very beggining.
    • Mission 2: Volmous Mine, Ishro, Used Magnus' unit to save Yumil personally.
    • Escorted Prince Yumil before going to Zenobian Borders.
    • Saved a nun from being raped at the Zenobian Border stage.
    • Said NO to Rhade when asked to kill Fredrick Raskin.
    • Liberated about 90% of strongholds; 10% Captured.
    • No strongholds *re*-captured by enemy.

Interesting Conversations
  1. Jeal in Fair Heights - rival (credit: AA7Dragoon and TalonFFL3)

Quest Item
  1. Fair Heights, Inze Take Liedel's unit to Inze for the Red Branch, piece of headband that increases concentration (DEX). Do this after defeating the stage that is.
NOTES:
Great archer in the beginning of the game. The quest item isn't too shabby either. :)

Oh boy do Liedel and Jeal have some words for each other, not nearly as good as Dio and Rhade do tho. Liedel joins the revolution to see who really used the monsters (ogres and other netherworld denziens) to kill her reinforcments, the Red Branch, and by talking w/ Jeal she finds out. Make sure you fight him at least twice if Liedel is the first unit you use to fight Jeal because Jeal must have his opening speech upon the first attack. Than attacking him subsequently w/ Liedel will provoke the rival dialogue. Jeal is also Magnus' rival so let Magnus have his rival dialogue too. Not neccessary but definatly makes the game more interesting. Jeal is kinda weak so you might have to change attack strategies mid-battle to spare his pathetic life so both Magnus' unit and Liedel's unit can have their dialogue.

For the Interesting Conversations dialogue, sometimes you must fight the person more than one time because bosses tend to have a speech prepared for any joe blow who is the first attacker. Try not to kill them too soon. Choose 'Attack Strongest' if you have to. Or even Retreat during the battle.

Aisha Knudel

Class/es

Found on Which Stage

  1. Priest
  2. Saradin's Secret Love =D

  • Audvera Heights

Steps in Obtaining
  1. Audvera Heights, Puld, Need Dio still in party and maybe a somewhat decent Chaos Frame (not extremely low but middle or so) up to this point. Only a couple people have problems getting her. She is a powerful priest ...a must have just for that reason.

Interesting Conversations
  1. Yumil in Winnea - they know each other (credit: Dustin-Destin)

Quest Item
  1. None that I know of.
NOTES:
BEST Priest of the game. Opens the Priest class for you if you don't already have one. You should bow and pay homage to her. You refuse her help and you are missing a VERY powerful priest ...and you lose my respect.

For the Interesting Conversations dialogue, sometimes you must fight the person more than one time because bosses tend to have a speech prepared for any joe blow who is the first attacker. Try not to kill them too soon. Choose 'Attack Strongest' if you have to. Or even Retreat during the battle.

Vad Oroqui Zulenka

Class/es

Found on Which Stage

  1. Grappler

  • Mount Ithaca

Steps in Obtaining
  1. Mount Ithaca, keep him ALIVE throughout the mission. Yes, he must stay alive, no way around this. I believe you must have also done the Audvera Heights stage as well. He is the ONLY grappler you will ever have ...a must have just for that reason. Here is what I feel is the best way to keep this guy alive during the mission...

  2. He is a 5 grappler unit coming from the right. Send a unit, I used Magnus, to the right around the road where it breaks up for a bit. Park Magnus just below the road, not too far away but not too close. A black knight will come up and attack you. When you beat this unit, look to where it repels the unit back to. It should be in the mountains and out of the way. This is what you want for when Vad attacks you, so you might have to re-adjust your positioning if you notice the black knight flying back on the road or something. After you beat Vad, leave him alone for the whole mission. Don't get near him or he'll attack you. If a unit of yours is getting too close and you see Vad move, quickly redirect your unit in the opposite direction and Vad will go back to staying put. Beat the mission and Vad asks to join you if and ONLY IF you freed the Boulkans in Audvera Heights. You can choose Audvera Heights before Sable Lowlands and still get Vad, but Audvera Heights is easier if you beat Sable Lowlands first. Vad's unit is strong so send a unit that can deal more damage than Vad's unit. MAKE SURE VAD SURVIVES, if he dies than that is it ...no more Vad!

Interesting Conversations
  1. Just about anyone from Lodis

Quest Item
  1. Soathon, Shafferville Take Vad to Shafferville for Idaten's Mail. (after Mission 12)
NOTES:
He is like a buffed up Ninja Master. Deadly up front, deadly in the back. Versatile and just plain kick ass! He won't be your strongest but he is definately worth having. Keeping him alive during the Mt. Ithaca stage is hard, but try your hardest and don't be afraid to hit the reset button.

For the Interesting Conversations dialogue, sometimes you must fight the person more than one time because bosses tend to have a speech prepared for any joe blow who is the first attacker. Try not to kill them too soon. Choose 'Attack Strongest' if you have to. Or even Retreat during the battle.

Saradin Carm

Class/es

Found on Which Stage

  1. Warlock

  • Mount Ithaca

Steps in Obtaining
  1. Beat the Mount Ithaca stage. After the mission you return to the war room and meet none other than Saradin himself. If you meet his qualifications, he will humble himself and ask to join ...and you will of course accept his offer. You do NOT need Aisha to get Saradin, you do need Dio though ...read about Dio (above) if you are unsure if you are going to lose him or not. If Aisha is in your party/battalion then he will he say he wishes to stay with the revolutionary army and Aisha. Gee I wonder why? He may be old, but not stupid ...she is kinda cute. ;-D

2 WAY PATH NOW:

  1. As far as I can tell, doesn't matter which you choose first.
  2. Defeat Azure Plains first or second - Sheen is on this stage.
  3. Defeat Mount Keryoleth first or second.

Sheen Cocteau

Class/es

Found on Which Stage

  1. Hawkman
  2. What ever you want him to be.

  • Azure Plains

Steps in Obtaining
  1. Azure Plains, Coppermine (chapter 2), Go to Coppermine and if you have a low - neutral chaos frame he will show up.

I could not get Sheen, but I HEAR (can't confirm) that the questions he asks depend on what unit you send there. According to Deathscythe, how you answer the first question does not matter, but for the second... just make sure you choose the 'Yes' reply when he asks to join. Someone even said Sheen only asked them one question. If you can get Sheen to show up, I'm sure you can figure out the correct responses. I believe there is a CF requirement for Sheen just like Diedrupo says ...or maybe there is more leway (low to mid-high). I think my CF was too high to get Sheen, but that is only a guess. For fun (I hear), send a female unit to Coppermine to recruit Sheen. I hear he is quite funny (maybe this is the difference in answering the questions). He is a ladies man, so send a female group leader if you want to see his witty remarks.

Interesting Conversations
  1. None that I know of.

Quest Item
  1. Dardunnelles, Garu Kaio Take Sheen to Garu Kaio for the Decoy Cap, which attracts neutral characters. (after Mission 19)
NOTES:
He is a hawkman, that is all I know. I tried everything underneath the sun to try and get him. I sent every unit I had (female and male) to Coppermine to no avail. I talked w/ the little girl in another town (right above your base) sooo many times ...to no avail. Some say you can't get Liedel, Vad and Sheen. But I have heard others say that they have! A few others like DeathMage2. So he must be CF dependent. Or maybe this game still uses the Reputation Meter (but tis hidden like the Luck attribute) and he requires a low-mid rep meter. Oh well, tis all I know. I hear his Quest Item kicks butt so if you get him than make sure to get it.

For the Interesting Conversations dialogue, sometimes you must fight the person more than one time because bosses tend to have a speech prepared for any joe blow who is the first attacker. Try not to kill them too soon. Choose 'Attack Strongest' if you have to. Or even Retreat during the battle.

Found on Which Stage

  1. Solid Blade
  2. "Luuuke, he is your faaather!"

  • Wentinus (chapter 2)

Steps in Obtaining
  1. Wentinus (chapter 2), In the beginning you are given the decision to accept the peace accord or obey orders and fight against your father and Prince Yumil. This decision affects the mission, choosing one over the other will yield in a completely different mission (only map is same - story line changes). This is a BIG decision. If you accept the peace accord (disobey orders) than after you complete the mission w/ Ankiseth will still be alive, you are given ANOTHER choice. This is a big decision too b/c you are to decide if to recruit Ankiseth or to have him go on his own and find Prince Yumil by himself. If you want Ankiseth, ask him to join you. Ankiseth is extremely powerful, combine a Cataphract and a Paladin powered up and you have Ankiseth. I sugest getting him.

Interesting Conversations
  1. Reucharles in Argent - rival (credit: beyowulf)

Quest Item
  1. Argent, Meltaus Take Meredia to Meltaus to get Rai's Tear.
NOTES:
A pretty and a pretty decent Siren. Opens up the Siren class if you haven't already. Worth it! Her spell casting power is 2nd only to Saradin. Her Quest Item sucks, a whole 2 resistence against strike. I am keeping it just in case more items = higher CF. Just in case.

  2. If you choose Captrium first than than both Vert Plateau and Tremos Mountains closses off. So if you chose this first than you can only recruit Biske ...that is assuming you meet all the requirements. (credit: biggswedge)

  3. If you choose Tremos Mountains first than than both Vert Plateau and Captrium closses off. So if you chose this first than you can only recruit Paul ...that is assuming you meet all the requirements. Europea Leada

Class/es

Found on Which Stage

  1. Centurion

  • Vert Plateau

Steps in Obtaining
  1. Vert Plateau, Fort Hillverich, Take Magnus' unit to Fort Hillverich. Will automatically talk to Europea. She will head to enemy headquarters. Make sure she doesn't die, and she will offer to join you. The best way to do this is to liberate Fort Hillverich LAST. Maybe even weaken the boss a little before Europea arrives b/c there are no healers in her unit and she doesn't use any Heal Leaves unless absolutely neccessary. Let her attack the boss at least once for some interesting conversation. I have heard it is dependent on mid CF, but SOME players are doing some tests and it does not appear to be the case there is a CF requirement. But with out seeing their game I can't prove this otherwise.

Interesting Conversations
  1. Boss of the Vert Plateau stage.
  2. Kerikov (Celesis) - credit: TalonFFL3

Quest Item
  1. Vert Plateau, Fort Hillverich Take Europea to Fort Hillverich for the Starry Sky, shield that has a 'RES' of 50 against dark.
NOTES:
Not bad at all. Not your typical redhead, her hair is flame red. Oh her fighting abilities? Not bad either. She seems to block a lot of hits and have pretty high critical hits. Comes w/ a pretty decent unit too!

Steps in Obtaining
  1. Tremos Mountains, Ibu Deli (chapter 3), This is the 2nd Tremos Mountains stage, *not* where you chose btwn this and Vert Plateau and Capitrium. MAKE SURE to send Magnus' unit *during the mission* to Ibu Deli before any other unit. So liberate/capture Ibu Deli with Magnus' unit. Word has it you need Aisha and Saradin along with a high CF. But I have heard of someone without those characters getting Debonair. So he just might require a high CF and Magnus liberating Ibu Deli.

Not bad at all. Popular w/ the ladies. A General that has a purple carpet underneath when sitting in reserves, that is how important this guy is ...hehe! Has one of the coolest looking swords which is unchangeable. Doesn't beat around the bush, talks briefly and right to point. A definate must!

  • Gules Hills #2 (Chapter 4)

Steps in Obtaining
  1. Gules Hills, Kurashino, Take Magnus' group to Kurashino, Gules Hills *during the mission*. The consensus seems to be that you must have Debonair in your battalion to get Destin. You shouldn't have to liberate Kurashino w/ Magnus' unit to get Destin, merely just have Magnus meet them there during the mission. If Magnus can liberate Kurashino, rather than capturing it, might as well just have Magnus liberate Kurashino to be on the safe side. (credit: TalonFFL3)

Quest Item

NOTES:
The hero from the first Ogre Battle (March of the Black Queen) for the SNES. Oh man does he kick some butt! I have to admit that I like his winning line, "Who wants to step up to this?" He gets 3 attacks whether in the front row OR the middle row, which makes for some nice unit formations. A MOST definately must! I just found out something really cool about Destin from my own experiences. It appears he can not be put to sleep by the enemy. I have him as the leader in one of my groups, front row center. I have attacked numerous ghost units and EVERY ghost tries to put him asleep and they all fail, and fail miserably. Destin always resists! I do not know if other status change effects affects him or not. Need more time on that one.

NOTES:
Like Saradin, Aisha, Destin, and Debonair, he is also from the first Ogre Battle (March of the Black Queen) for the SNES. He is pretty darn good too, comparable in strength to Debonair as oddly as that sounds, but only 2 attacks no matter where he is placed. Still he is a definate must. Get him and Destin and you *should* be heading towards a good ending. Though I have heard of people getting these two and still getting a CF of 0. But these two require a HIGH CF/Reputation at this point in the game at least.

Carth Foreleson

Class/es

Found on Which Stage

  1. Black Knight

  • Ptia

Steps in Obtaining
  1. "Ptia, Furge (chapter 4), "Go to Furge. Carth will appear and then head towards the boss. He will join you if you don't have any Zenobians in your party, and possibly Dio as well (no confirmation on Dio though). Also, you might need a low chaos frame. Lastly, Carth is only available depending upon what path you take in chapter 4. To be safe, go to Ptia first before Bajilika." (credit: Diedrupo)

Talk to Carth in Torab Ni. Keep him alive during mission.

"To be safe getting Carth, go to The Blue Basilika first, since that lowers CF." (credit: Deathscythe) Can't confirm this, but hey there ya go, more info fer ya!

Someone confirmed for me that you can have Dio and still get Carth. So he must require a really low CF or something else like not making peace w/ Ankiseth at the end of Chapter 2.

Interesting Conversations
  1. The boss of Ptia, a Calignous Order knight.
  2. I'd say the boss of Blue Basilica too since that boss is another one from the Calignous Order but I don't have Carth so I can't confirm my theory on this 2nd one. I know the first b/c if you let Carth's unit attack the stage boss than they have some words for each other. I suggest weakening the boss first tho b/c Carth's unit isn't the most powerful. He is powerful but it is like one man unit really.

Quest Item
  1. Ptia, Rete Take Carth to Rete for the Runic Cape. (after Mission 34)
NOTES:
Not far enough in game to confirm any of this. If you don't have a Black Knight, he will open up the class for you.

For the Interesting Conversations dialogue, sometimes you must fight the person more than one time because bosses tend to have a speech prepared for any joe blow who is the first attacker. Try not to kill them too soon. Choose 'Attack Strongest' if you have to. Or even Retreat during the battle.

HOW DO I GET THE SPECIAL CLASSES?

See any false information so far?
Let me know then!

Angel Knight

Requirements

Required Items

  • No level requirement
  • INT: 60
  • MENT: 61
  • DEX: 57
  • ALI: 50-100

  1. Needle of Light
  2. Kite Shield
  3. Plate Mail

Needle of Light

  1. Dardunnelles, Melphy - Investigate on the 20th since it takes about a day to get there. Enter Stronghold on 21st of Month between 9:00 and 17:59 to 'purchase' Needle of Light. Pause the game before Entering Stronghold to ensure you are in the correct time frame. (after Chapter 2)

NOTES:
Okay, I have gotten the elusive Angel Knight. This is how it works... kill off a female character (don't try w/ a special character unless you REALLY want to). I recommend a priest. Here are some tips to INCREASE YOUR ODDS (i.e. not 100% guarantee):

  1. Make sure ALL required equipment is available!
  2. HIGH ALI!
  3. Priest/Cleric<./li>
  4. Keep unit on map when stage is beat.
  5. Kill off more than one.
  6. Sell all your extra Old Clothing.
  7. Sell all your extra Torn Cloths.

  8. Use the Love and Peace you found as treasure in Wentinius to persuade an Angel Knight during the Celesis mission. I believe this is the only mission you find Angel Knights as enemies. Please correct me if I am wrong on this.

This does NOT mean that you will be guaranteed an Angel Knight and your character still has a chance of turning into a Zombie! Sucks I know. If you don't mind playing the stage again, reset the game. Even more of a drag, I know. Personally I think the Angel Knight is worth it. Her attacks are a little below a Paladin's but her defense kicks butt, both magically and physcially! Banish looks like a golden halo flying pretty fast over a character's head, then golden spirals go down around the character w/ golden sparkles around the spirals. BIG improvement over what it used to look like in March of the Black Queen. It appears that by raising DEX, you can raise the her attack power, from what Dark Kirby has seen. Both of us have seen no improvement raising INT. Since the attack has a 'sword icon' next it, might be STR and DEX dependant.

I think using the Love and Peace is best way to do it. Still might have to reset the game if the Love and Peace fails but far better than spending your time conquering the entire stage before reseting.

Seraph

Requirements

Required Items

  • INT: 108
  • MENT: 125
  • DEX: 117
  • ALI: 75-100

  1. Needle of Light
  2. Kite Shield
  3. Baldr Mail

NOTES:
Thanks to biggswedge who noticed Angel Knights do not have to have 137 DEX to evolve into a Seraph. He thinks about 117 DEX, +1/2. I had one evolve with around 120 DEX so I can confirm that 137 is wrong. They evolve at the end of a fight just like a dragon does assuming all the required stats are met and all the required equipment is available. All you gotta make sure is... that you have spare Baldr Mails lying around. Two ways I know of to get Baldr Mails (minus treasure and battle loot, sure fire ways) is to either, 1) Buy extra set of equipment for a Freya, and 2) Buy them at the shop in the Temple of Berthe stage.

They kick butt! They look cool too! More damage done to enemies in the center squares (like most spells and dragon breaths) and to enemies w/ lower ALI. More damage during day too. Watch out undead, Seraph is coming to greet ya! =D These lovely holy ladies make a nice addition to any group. By the way, biggswedge also mentioned something I found interesting. I had just thought Jihad and Banish were dependent on INT. Well if you look at their choices of attack, both Jihad and Banish are listed w/ a 'sword icon' (strength) rather than 'staff icon' (intelligence). So a higher STR makes their attacks more powerful. It appears that by raising DEX, you can raise the her attack power, from what Dark Kirby has seen. Both of us have seen no improvement raising INT. Since the attack has a 'sword icon' next it, might be STR and DEX dependant.

Dragoon

Requirements

Required Items

  • Male
  • STR: 127
  • VIT: 111
  • DEX: 95

  1. Sword of Tiamat
  2. Dragon Armor
  3. Dragon Helm

Dragon Helm
  1. Mylesia, Idorf - Get information on Dragoon units, more like a history of them. (after Mission 4)
  2. Gunther Piedmont, Burgunny - Talk with drunk man between 18:00 and 6:59. (after Mission 7)
  3. Gunther Piedmont, Burgunny - After talking with drunk man, talk with bartender after 7:00 to find out more about the man and where the drunk man's wife is. Strategy Guide does NOT say this, but I KNOW this is a step so follow it. (after Mission 7)
  4. Volmus Mine, Senal - Talk with the wife. (possible after Mission 7)
  5. Gunther Piedmont, Burgunny - Talk with the drunk and his wife between 7:00 and 18:59. Wife sells the Dragon Helm. I did this right after Mission 7 and it cost me 260 Goth. Good memory, huh? (after Mission 7)

Dragon Armor (credit: Terren)
  1. Mount Ithaca, Kynora - Enter stronghold on Kynora between 09:00 and 17:59, talk to an old man about Dragon Armor and the ore, Condrite. Might need the Dragon Helm as well. Pause the game before Entering Stronghold to ensure you are in the correct time frame. (after Mission 15)
  2. Dardunnelles, Melphy - Investigate on the 5th since it takes about a day to get there. Enter Stronghold on 6th of Month between 9:00 and 17:59 to 'purchase' Condrite - cheaper if bought as early as possible. Pause the game before Entering Stronghold to ensure you are in the correct time frame. (after Mission 8)
  3. Mount Ithaca, Kynora - Get Dragon Armor from artisan free of charge. (after Mission 15)

Sword of Tiamat
  1. Mylesia, Idorf - Get information on the Sword of Tiamat after getting both the Dragon Helm and Dragon Armor. (after Mission 15).
  2. Fair Heights, Elaine - Get the Dragon Scale and information about the Divine Dragon. (after Mission 21)
  3. Celesis, Pinneg - Unit leader fights a single-handed combat with GROZZ NUY the egotistical dragon till one reaches 0 hit points. So pick someone who has enuff attack power, maybe even 3 attacks. Win and you receive the Sword of Tiamat. I used Magnus equiped w/ the Ice Sword and Titania Mail and won. Got close tho since Magnus was only a Vanguard when I tried. (after Mission 24)
NOTES:
Dragoons kick ass! Not as much as Fenril, Slust, and Fogel did back in the day ...especially Fogel, back in the day of Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen. Back in the day when I was young, I am not a kid anymore but some days I sit and wish I was a kid again. Back in the day... Ahhh hem! Xcuse me.

Definately worth this effort. And it can be done before the end of Chapter 3 ...unlike Princess so that is a plus too! Best melee class of the game, aside from special characters.

Required Items

  • Male or Female
  • INT: 24
  • MENT: 51
  • ALI: 0-30

  1. Kerykeion
  2. Book of Bane
  3. Bloodstained Robe
  4. Ring of the Dead

Ring of the Dead
  1. Celesis, Banna Barra - Get letter from girl. (after Mission 24)
  2. Zenobian Border, Quelluan - Use Magnus to deliver letter to old woman and recieve the ring. (after Mission 24)

Bloodstained Robe
  1. Gules Hills - Treasure at bottom tip of forest. Forest is to the right of Castle Echel.

Book of Bane
  1. Sable Lowlands - Treasure at top-left of the bottom most forest of the map.
  2. Gules Hills - Treasure to the right of forest, below Colgueff.
  3. Vert Plateau - Treasure to the bottom-right of the mountain range next to Dossoll. Another book is to the bottom-left of that same mountain range.

Kerykeion
  1. Kill wild Black Dragons to get the Kerykeion. (credit: Jack) You can find Black Dragons in these areas: Mylesia, in between the forest and moutains near Idorf after Chapter 2, Mission 1; Black Emblams, in the forest with an occasional gremlin.
NOTES:
They look cool, they look cool when kicking ass, they look cool winning. What more do ya want?! Biggswedge has noticed that a Lich either has full immunity to abnormal effects like sleep, posion, and paralyze which Paladine confirms. Merlin615 has said his Lich has been petrified before tho, so keep that in that mind. Lich can resist abnormal effects, minus petrification.

The Kerykeion and Bloodstained Robe can also be battle drop.

Reports of 2nd Ring of the Dead... "extra lich - if you take the Tremos Mountains instead of Capitrium or Vert Plateau, there is an undead ring 11 o'clock from the town of Congul - where you talk to Paul. (credit: biggswedge)

"In the first Termos Mount stage, where you can get Paul, just about directly north of the town Congul is the precious Ring of the Dead. (credit: Willis)

Princess

Requirements

Required Items

  • Female
  • ALI: 70-100

  1. Battle Fan
  2. Spellbook
  3. Pure-White Dress
  4. Dream Crown

Pure-White Dress
  1. Tenne Plains, Bourdeux - Woman tells a female group leader that she should get a pure white dress. (after Mission 1)
  2. Dardunnelles, Melphy - Investigate on the 14th since it takes about a day to get there. Enter Stronghold on 15st of Month between 9:00 and 17:59 to 'purchase' Bolt of Silk. Pause the game before Entering Stronghold to ensure you are in the correct time frame. (after Mission 8) I believe it costed me 2000 Goth, I bought it right after Mission 8.
  3. Tenne Plains, Billney - Purchase Pure-White Dress from tailor with a female group leader. I think it costed me around 200 Goth, can't remember. (after Mission 8)
Dream Crown
  1. Blue Basilica, Clemona - Talk to old man about Gelda. (after Mission 33)
  2. Crenel Canyon, Boolem - Look for Gelda, but she went to Zenobian Border. The old man says she is in Alba, well he is wrong. Go to the Crenel Canyon and visit Boolem. Don't bother visiting Alba. I visited every town, no information. Just follow the instructions here. (after Mission 33)
  3. Zenobian Border, Elle - Look for Gelda, but she went to Soathon. (after Mission 33)
  4. Soathon, Tristle - Get letter from Gelda to deliver to old man. (after Mission 33)
  5. Blue Basilica, Clemona - Deliver letter and get Dream Crown. (after Mission 33)
Battle Fan
  1. Gules Hills - Treasure to the left of Belleboppo, to the other side of the river (left side).
  2. Capitrium - Treasure to the left of Purlova, right next to town between the two mountain ranges.
NOTES:
You should have zero problem finding a Spellbook by the time you make it to Mission 33. So just find a female character with ALI over 70. Ok, the game does not display numbers so just make sure the scale is tipped to the right and reads 'L' ...not 'N'. I can see two positions of the scale for 'L' so if it does not work then work on that character's ALI some more. Read the ALI section if you need help on raising ALI.

Awesome character! She has the awesome ability to give everyone in the unit an extra attack so as long as she is the leader just like in the original OB. The ONLY difference is her number of attacks do not increase by making her the leader. She can turn a power group into a really feared group with this ability. Ya think that Lich is powerful? Pair these two up for pure destructive force! Add to the fact that she can equip a Drakonite Books and she makes an extremely useful character. Think of her as a Lawful Siren w/ a special gift. :D

Vampire

Requirements

Required Items

  • Male
  • INT: 52
  • MENT: 63
  • AGI: 54
  • ALI: 0-50

  1. Count's Garment
  2. Bloody Emblem

Bloody Emblem
  1. Mylesia, Elgorea - Male group leader, with LOW ALI(close to Chaotic, scale can still read 'N' tho), meets Lestat the Undead. Answer his questions correctly and he will give you the Bloody Emblem. Questions and Answers vary depending on time of day, so read below for the answers. There are only two possible answers so a '1' means choose the top answer, and '2' for the bottom. TIP: Pause the game when you reach town that way you know the time before entering the stronghold. Enjoy! This is a fun side event. (after Mission 4 AND male character meets ALL required stats)
    • 00:00-01:29 - 1, 1, 1, 1
    • 01:30-02:59 - 2, 2, 2, 2
    • 03:00-04:29 - 1, 1, 1, 2
    • 04:30-05:59 - 2, 2, 2, 1
    • 06:00-07:29 - 1, 1, 2, 1
    • 07:30-08:59 - 2, 2, 1, 2
    • 09:00-10:29 - 1, 1, 2, 2
    • 10:30-11:59 - 2, 2, 1, 1
    • 12:00-13:29 - 1, 2, 1, 1
    • 13:30-14:59 - 2, 1, 2, 2
    • 15:00-16:29 - 1, 2, 1, 2
    • 16:30-17:59 - 2, 1, 2, 1
    • 18:00-19:29 - 1, 2, 2, 1
    • 19:30-20:59 - 2, 1, 1, 2
    • 21:00-22:29 - 1, 2, 2, 2
    • 22:30-23:59 - 2, 1, 1, 1
Count's Garment
  1. Aurua Plains - Treasure directly to the left of Landeck and directly below Kaysegg if you were drawing coordinates. There are two mountain ranges and a forest that come together (left side of river from Landeck) with a circle of open plain in between all three. Right in there. There is a chance to get this through a battle drop, maybe even before this scene (4th to last mission).
NOTES:
Personally I think they suck. If you need a door stopper for a stronghold than this is the best class (during the day).

Black Knight

Requirements

Required Items

  • Male
  • STR: 117
  • VIT: 112
  • ALI: 0-40

  1. Satan's Bullova
  2. Valiant Mantle
  3. Baldr Armor
  4. Armet

Satan's Bullova
  1. Sable Lowlands - Treasure directly above Crotal Castle.
  2. Sable Lowlands - Many times you can get this as battle spoils on this stage. Make sure you choose the Sable Lowlands decision first before going to Mt. Ithaca.
  3. You can even buy this through the Buy Equipment for class when on World Map. MUST have already opened the Black Knight class up.
Valiant Mantle
  1. Sable Lowlands - Treasure to the bottom-right of Shichidarui above the the forest. You'll run into this one just walking to this town from Temil.
  2. Sable Lowlands - Many times you can get this as battle spoils on this stage. Make sure you choose the Sable Lowlands decision first before going to Mt. Ithaca.
Baldr Armor
  1. Sable Lowlands - Treasure to the bottom-left of Shichidarui between the two forests.
  2. Sable Lowlands - Can also be bought from Temil for 400 goth.
Armet
  1. Sable Lowlands - Treasure to the top-right of Shichicdarui where the road between Shichidarui and Kuva break up for a bit. You'll run into this one just walking to this town from Temil.
  2. Can be bought in numerous places I'm sure. A plain old 'Knight' needs one.
NOTES:
I know this is not a 'special class', but since this is one of the hardest classes to get and raises so many questions, I added it in for the hell of it ...this is a FAQ page after all.

Before this class even opens up as a possibility you must have a character that meets ALL the required stats w/ default equipment on, for that class (which ever charcter you are thinking of upgrading). Also make sure his ALI is low enuff. Make sure you have ALL the required equipment for the Black Knight class. Once you do, then you can make a Black Knight. They make a nice addition to any army even though they only have 2 attacks up front. You can equip them with some really nice weapons. They also benefit from armor and nice all around stats.

NEUTRAL CHARACTERS:

NOTE: Killing neutral characters for special items like killing the Black Dragon for the Kerykeion is rare, but you still you have a chance to get that item. So take that into consideration if you are having a hard time getting the item/s that are listed below.
  • Golems:
    • Stone Golem - Golem hit by Petrification attack
    • Baldr Golem - Stone Golem hit by Fire and Wind combo.

  • Neutral Stone Golems - Audrera Hieghts, in the barrens. I had the best luck around the town of Bezelle. Found two right there, crossing the city in fact! And I had groups searching the barrens at the top of the map and at the bottom, nothing on either side. Also in the Tremos Mountains Part 2 stage in the normal Highlands, but by the time you get to this stage you can recruit Baldr Golems in the snowy mountains (same stage). Or you can always kill them for the Kite Shield like I did, in case you need an extra Kite Shield for an Angel Knight.
-- Kill wild Stone Golems for Kite Shields (credit: biggwedge).
  • Neutral Baldr Golems - Tremos Mountains Part 2, in the snowy mountains. (credit: Megavolt) The best place to find them in the Tremos Mountains #2 stage is that mountain range to the bottom-right of the enemy base. Any and all Baldr Golems I found were right there (lvl 21 or so).
-- Kill wild Baldr Golems for Baldr Shields (credit: SKATER887).
  • Neutral Hawkmen, Raven, Vultan - Just about any stage. Found on highways. Raven and Vultans don't come till around till the end of Chapter 2.
-- Kill wild Hawkmen, Raven, Vultan for their default equipment.
  • Neutral Red Dragons - Audrera Hieghts, in the mountains. Also in the Tremos Mountains Part 2 stage in the normal Highlands (lvl 21 or so). They are many stages, just look around Highlands once Mature Dragons become popular (vs. Young Dragons).
-- Kill wild Red Dragons for Sword of Fire Drake.
  • Neutral Earth Dragons - Alba, in forests. Also Fair Heights in the forests (lvl 16). Also in the Temple of Berthe stage, in forests. (lvl 21 i think) -- Kill wild Earth Dragons for Axe of the Wyrm (credit: Shaun).
  • Neutral Blue Dragons - Mylesia, in the mountains; Sable Lowlands, in the marsh. Also Gules Hills in the marsh (lvl 16). According to Hugo, they are also in Tybell, in the marsh I'd presume (couldn't find one).
-- Kill wild Blue Dragons for Cyanic Claw.
  • Neutral Thunder Dragons - Sable lowlands / Dardunnells, in the barrens. Also in Mt. Keryoleth, barren regions. Also Gules Hills in the barrens (lvl 16).
-- Kill wild Thunder Dragons for Sum Mannus.
  • Neutral Platnium Dragons - Soathon Highlands, in the mountains. Also found in Mylesia, in the barrens after Chapter 2, Mission 1. Also found in Capitrium in the snowy mountains.
-- Kill wild Platinum Dragons for Ytival, a bow.
  • Neutral Black Dragons - Mylesia, in between the forest and moutains near Idorf after Chapter 2, Mission 1. Also in Tybell, in the forests.
-- Kill wild Black Dragons to get the Kerykeion. (credit: Dragonbane)
  • Neutral Tiamats - Aurua Plains, usually found in the barrens and are level 32.
-- Kill wild Tiamats to get Angel Fruits or Goblets of Destiny.
  • Neutral Pumpkin HeadsHigh Scoath Plains in the forest just to the bottom left of where you start, and that forest curves around a mountain. "Pumpkin Heads can also be found in Ptia, the Secluded Land. (credit: Jack) Also, according to Hugo you can also find Pumpkin Heads in Tremos Mountains Part 2, I would guess around the forests and around lvl 21 even though I couldn't find any. Though I didn't look too hard.
-- Kill wild Pumpkin Heads to find Dowsing Rods. (credit: Samson)
  • Neutral Opinincus - Temple of Berthe, in the highlands. Also in Tybell, in the highlands or plains.
-- Kill wild Opinincai (sp? :) to get Stone of Quickness or the Crystal of Precision.
  • Neutral CockatricesKeryloeth, found in the barrens. (credit: TalonFFL3) They are also in Audvera Heights, around the forests. I didn't find them in the barrens or highlands in Audvera, just the forests and not too often. I found a trick for Cockatrices. I was having a hard time getting them to join (kept fleeing), but I found out something that works... get the Cockatrice almost to the point it is dead (20hp or so) and then ask them to join (well "Talk"). Remember to keep an eye out for how many attacks you have left. One time I ran into Cockatrice, in the forest near Bezelle and ran into another RIGHT after the battle. With this technique both joined me where as they didn't before.
-- Kill wild Cockatrices to find Scrolls of Discipline and Revive Stones.
  • Neutral Wyverns - Latium, usually found in the highlands. Also found in Wentinium (2nd time) in the highlands.
-- Kill wild Wyverns to get Champion Statuettes.
  • Neutral CereberusGules Hills in the mountains. Also in Barpheth in the mountains.
-- Kill wild Cereberus to find Goblet of Destiny and Flag of Untity. (credit: Bob Smith)
  • Neutral FaeriesMylesia, on the plains.
-- Kill wild Faeries to 'sometimes' find Silver Hourglasses. (credit: HerzogTwo)
  • Neutral GremlinsMylesia, in the mountains.
-- Kill wild Gremlins to 'sometimes' find Quit Gates. (credit: HerzogTwo)
  • Neutral SphinxesArgent, in the snowy forests. There is a snowy forest that wraps around a mountain range. Check that one. I found plenty there. Hard hitting them to see what they kill, good AGI. I found 4, recruited 2, couldn't kill one, and killed the last one. So I can't confirm the battle drops that Dustin-Destin says since I got an Angel Fruit. I looked around the snowy forests with tons of people but it was Destin's unit that found them all. Found also in Latium forest regions.
-- Kill them for Books of Bane, and possibly Kerokien and Crowns of Intellect. (credit: Dustin-Destin) Angel Fruit is definately a drop.
  • Neutral GorgonsPtia, in the snowy forests. Found also in Latium forest regions.

"You can also find neutral gorgons located in the last level at Mt. Keryoleth. Just look at the forests between your headquarters and the farm community up north. Or it might be the mountains next to the forest." (credit: AA7Dragoon)
-- Kill them for Love & Peaces. They also can give you Composite Bows, and a Mirror Soul according to Dustin-Destin.
  • Neutral OgresTybell, in the plains and barrens. Hugo says there are "Denizens of the netherworld" on this stage. I couldn't find any. According to Shaun and Dustin-Destin they are on the plains and barrens. I searched for over 30 days and no luck, just one stupid Opinincus. So maybe Sheen's Decoy Cap is either needed or definately insures an encounter b/c I sure had no freakin luck.
-- Kill them for Ogre Blades (jesuits)
  • Neutral Goblins – "Goblins can be found anywhere on alot of boards but don't bother getting them. Fighters might be better. They on range from 30to35 around Ptia." (credit: Dustin-Destin) Also in Blue Basilica, in the forests. Found also in Latium forest regions.

First stage I found them was Mt. Keryoleth in the forests. I didn't try to recruit any b/c recruiting demon units lowers your CF.
-- Kill wild Goblins for Short Swords and Plate Mail. (credit: D. Vower)

  • Special Items:

  • Drakonite Books on the map
    • Tempest in Blue Basilica (1 o'clock from Clemona). (credit: biggswedge)- Bottom side of river just above the forest peak in that little path of plains.

    • Meteor Strike in Ptia (8 o'clock from Furge)(credit: biggswedge)- Right side of mountain range on the plain region btwn the mountain range and barren range. Top half of the path.
    • Annihilation in Barpheth (3 o'clock from Sondrio)(credit: biggswedge)- Bottom side of river just above the mountain range, that tight little path of plain btwn the river and mountains.
    • White Mute in Argent (12 o'clock from Meltaus)(credit: biggswedge)- Right side of the river. Directly on the OTHER side of the river is Caralla.

  • Reward from Angel at Temple of Berthe
    • Southern Cross - After defeating Winnea, go to Latium, Vulge and talk with the bartender using Magnus' unit. Than go to Gothpicci with Magnus during the day and talk with the Cleric who than tells you to return at night time. Re-enter the Gothpicci stronghold using Magnus anywhere between 00:00 to 03:59am. If you meet all the requirements than Flaum the Archangel will come in all her sparkling, golden beauty and bestow upon you a gift from Mother Berthe, namely the Southern Cross (armor that Magnus can wear). You must have ALL of these:
      1. Pedra of Bane
      2. Pedra of Virtue
      3. Dream Crown
      4. Ansate Cross from saving nun in Zenobian Border
      5. *Might* need a High Chaos Frame

Read the rest of this FAQ on how to obtain these. High CF is in Chaos Frame section. The pedras are in the Pedra section. The Dream Crown is in the Special Classes section under **Princess**. To get the Ansate Cross, simply take Magnus' unit to Zenobian Border, Karya after defeating the stage. You will engage in a simple fight against 3 people saving a nun. Then the nun, Aja, asks you to go to Dem Vidro so take Magnus there immediately and get the Asnate Cross. Immediately since you are already on the stage and Dem Vidro is a short walk south of Karya.

Southern Cross is a virtue based full body armour w/ a dark resist of +3. Its physical resist is +20. Its Res Holy is -1. Costs 2500goth.

    GENERAL GAME TIPS:

  • Beginning Spell Combos:
    • Ionosphere - Wind and Ice (blue and green oribiting balls going around one big one that arcs on top of the enemy.)
    • Plasmaball - Wind and Fire (Purple ball that splashes on impact.)
    • Clay Assault - Earth and Ice (Purple slinky that splashes on impact.)
    • Lava Shot - Earth and Fire (Ground opens up and spits out a flaming rock.)
    • Infest - Bane and Wind (Weird color show.)
    • Dark Blaze - Bane and Fire (Dark purple and red flames.)

  • Master Spell Combos:
    • Atmosphere - Wind and Ice (Cool looking blue globe irridating blue light. Good damage and induces sleep.)
    • Plasma Storm - Wind and Fire (Purple and blue lightning shoots out and causes 4 purple ball explosions. Pretty good damage, weak paralyze effect, and ok looking.)
    • Blue Spiral - Earth and Ice (Water tornado comes up from the ground and then splashes down like a big drop of water and a couple smaller ones causing decent damage and posion effect.)
    • Lava Flow - Earth and Fire (Lasers cut a volcano in the Earth and the blast comes down w/ weak damage but paralyzing effect.)
    • Inferno - Bane and Wind (Satanic looking symbol rises from the ground and explodes. Real cool looking, big damage, and causes sleep.)
    • Dark Flame - Bane and Fire (Purple stream from each corner of screen slams down on enemies. Power down effect. Not very spectacular to look at.)

  • "Remember when the game asked you for a birth date of your character? When that day comes along on the calender, go to the Hugo section on the view screen, and go under events and you'll see something that says Happy Brithday, where your friends throw you a party and give you special items." (credit: AA7Dragoon)

My thoughts: I am putting this in per request of AA7Dragoon, but I think it is a good idea simply because not everyone may be aware of this little easter egg. When you find the Happy Birthday entry, click the 'A' button, read the text if you wish, and then click the 'L' button to view the party.
  • "Quetzcoatl Dragon - Very useful for its radiant gale w/c paralyzes and does good damage to enemies in the cross positions not the edges. Hydra and Tiamats are second choices for sleep. The rest are mediocre." (credit: biggswedge)

My thoughts: I have to pretty much agree w/ this. The Queztcoatl has easily become my favorite dragon and one of the dragons I fear most. For second place I'd say the Ahzi-Dahaka. Now is this is where I diverge from biggswedge. For 3rd place I say the Ahzi'Dahki. Not only does the breath spell, Earthquake, look cool but it does good damage and has a significant "Power Down" Effect. I use a Dragon Master up front w/ a Queztcoatl and Ahzi'Dahki in back.
  • "Quick way to gain levels - kill undeads w/o using holy weapons. After the fight they regenerate but still give you experience as if you killed them. Try to keep the enemy leader alive. Repeat as much as you can bear. Saves money on training." (credit: biggswedge)

My thoughts: I can confirm this one. Although when I tried it I was trying to get Magnus to have the final blow (blessed sword equiped) to raise his ALI. Took many tries to time it right so that Magnus would have the final blow on a skeleton/ghost, and so I ended up w/ a lot of XP. So yeah, I confirm this one. =)
