REPORTS

4a. Head of College- Catherine Butler

i.                     Catherine announced that the Corporation of Trinity College would be having their first meeting of the year on October 24th 2002 at 12:00pm in the GIT. She stated that many students sit on Corporation and that packages were sent in the mail to those who are involved. Furthermore there is one vacancy for one other student. The position was to be elected at the last JCM but quorum was called and the meeting ended, as there were not sufficient numbers to constitute a meeting. Therefore the position will be elected at the next JCM.

ii.                   Krista asked Catherine what was being done about the rumors that the computer labs would be closed. Catherine said that the heads have voiced their opposition at various meetings and the Deans have responded by seeing what they will be able to do. It was noted that closing the computer labs would not fix the college deficit.

4b. Head of Arts: Kathryn Fitzgerald

i.                     Kathryn said that noise complaints are her issue and to remember to keep the noise down especially on quiet floors, keep your stereos down, and keep quiet after 12pm.

4c. NRAC- Tiff Ing

i.                     Tiff reported that there will be an NRAC party on Thursday October 17th in the Buttery from 10pm – 1pm. The theme is Wild West—everyone should dress up and come out.

ii.                   The St. Hilda’s key program is going well, and the first batch of participants have their keys waiting for them. Anyone else who wants a key should talk to Marianne Tai or e-mail her at savagetai@hotmail.com.

iii.                  If there are any announcements that anyone would like to be posted with NRAC, you can post them at owner@yahoogroups.com or send an e-mail with your announcement to Angela Mammone, the first year non-res head of year at rosamammone@hotmail.com.

4.d Year Reports

i.          OT2- No Report

ii.          OT3- Grad photos for people graduation in November 2002 and June 2003 will be taken during the week of October 28th in the Rhodes Room at Trinity. You must have the picture taken then if you want to be in the yearbook; there is a $20 sitting fee. To book a sitting, call Juxarte Studios at 1-800-267-2379 ASAP. The OT3 Red Light District Party was a smashing success. Thanks to everyone for coming and helping OT3 go out in style. The constitutional amendment pertains to 4th year bar. As we are not allowed to have it at St. Hilda’s this year at Saints, the amendment is being made to allow us to attach 4th year bar to some other major Trin event, such as Conversat. Go OT3!

iii.         OT4- No Report

iv.         OT5- The OT5 Pub will take place on November 6th, the theme will be the “Bling-Bling” Pub, and everyone please come out.

v.         OT6- There is a meeting scheduled for Wednesday October 23rd after dinner in the JCR for OT6’s to discuss the year party, pub, themes and other activities. The issue of why we cannot drink at SHCM’s was addressed. (The reason is that the Rigby Room cannot be used for drinking and it is also quite costly and slows the meetings down.)

4e. Divinity Report

i.                     No official report.

ii.                   The women of Divinity will be performing the Vagina Monologues and Catherine and Provost Macmillan will assist in some capacity.

4f. Food Rep

i.          Numbers at Melinda have been very low for lunch, for those who complain that lunch is often offered again at dinner, the reason is because food is going to waste. It is not happening as much anymore. There is a white board on Margaret’s door for food comments/concerns/questions; the menu is also posted on her door. (Rm 223)

4i. TCDS

i.          Love’s Labour’s Lost is the fall play; it will be in the Quad at 7:30, please everybody dress warmly and come out. Furthermore if you live at Trinity please be respectful of the production, keep your windows closed and do not use the pre-designated doors. If it rains it will be performed in the GIT.

7. CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT

Motion: Lisa Crawford

Seconded: Joanne Boyle

Discussion:

What is a soirée? A soirée is how it’s written into the constitution; basically it’s the 4th year bar. It’s not longer allowed to be at Saints, and so by changing the constitution it can be held at Conversat or another formal event.

A friendly amendment proposed to work around the word “major” Trinity event. – No actual amendment proposed.

Proposed Amendment: Section h (iii) “The head of 4th year shall organize a soiree to be held at the Saints ball, or the Conversat, or other (formal or semi-formal) Trinity event.”

Cathy doesn’t think it is necessary.

Lisa says that worse comes to worse they can work around the wording of the proposed amendment.

Motion Passes.

8. OTHER BUSINESS

a)      Liz Reaney addressed the yearbook. She mentions that it now has a Website with photos and with pages of the book. Year write-ups need to be in by November 1st. Discussion on extending the date, it was decided to leave date as November 1st to allow enough time for the pages to be created.

b)      Date of next meeting. It needs to be before the end of term, and preferably before Saints.

Motion to adjourn: Angela Freeman

Seconded: Laura Bernstein

Meeting adjourned 9:15pm.
