FAQ
Triops Frequently Asked Questions
What are Triops?
Triops are an aquatic crustancean from the Triassic period.

Where can I find Triops?
Triops are found on every continent in the world except antarctica. Thew are found in the Western US, the whole of South America, all of Europe, The Sahel of Africa, the deserts of Australia,  and the ponds of Japan and Asia. Triops can be found in ponds and swamps, and puddles.

What do they eat?
Triops are omnivours, meaning they eat both plants and animals. They will eat algea, raw carrots, aquatic plants, Brine Shrimp(Sea Monkeys!), small fish, basicly anything living!

Are they really dinosaurs?
No, Dinosaurs were giant reptilian animals, not tiny crustaceans.

How did they outlive the dinos?
Well, triops eggs can survive in suspended animation for up to 20 years or more! While the dinosaurs were wiped out, our hearty little triops survived in their little eggs!

Will they reproduce?
Yes. When your triops are about 2 weeks old they will have eggs stored in "Brood Pouches", which look like little white softballs on their underside. When the time comes they will dig in the sand and lay their eggs.

Can I put them in with my Sea Monkeys?
NO! The salt water the sea monkeys live in would kill the freshwater Triops, and the Triops would eat your Sea Monkeys!

Why do they need a lamp?
The lamp is there to make sure the water is an addiquite temperature.

Help! They havn't hatched!
Don't worry, it can take them up to a week to hatch sometimes.
