| NOTE: All TG's used by Law Enforcement can be DES encrypted.. The TG ID will be offset +8 off the base TG. Again, the Radio Shack scanners do not have a status bit feature and therefore have no ability to recognize this. Exception would be the Uniden manufactured models. You will not hear these TG's in 'CLOSED' ID Scan mode. You will hear them in 'OPEN' mode but no ID will show on the display. DES encryption will sound like open squelch with no TT ID displayed. |
| Type II Special Status Bits Type II Smartnet systems use these status bits for special transmissions such as Emergency, Patches, DES/DVP scrambled transmissions, and Multiselects on Motorola Trunking systems. Motorola Trunking radios directly interpret them for their special functions, thus no difference is noticed by the person with the radio. The Trunktracker scanners however interpret these special talkgroup status bits as different talkgroups entirely. Below is the conversion chart for these special status bits.
