Basic Sight Words |
Basic sight words are words that children should be able to look at and read without "sounding out" or hesitating . They are very important in helping children learn to read. The "average" kindergarten student should be able to read a minimum of 50 sight words by the end of the kindergarten year. The "average" first grade student should be able to read a minimum of 110 sight words by the end of the first grade year. The following is a list of all 220 Basic Sight Words. The red words are the kindergarten words. The yellow words are the first grade words and the purple words are second grade and up. |
