Will the UP Fighting Maroons manage to score a win in Season 70 of the UAAP? Posted:08/13/07 Updated:08/20/07

The UP Fighting Maroons remain winless in the 70th season of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Men's Basketball Tournament. The boys of Coach Joe Lipa are still at last place, with a 0-8 win-loss record, after losing to the National University Bulldogs last Thursday, to begin the second round.

With only six games remaining for them in the eliminations, the Maroons hope to win at least 5 of these to finish with a decent record. The team is composed of mostly rookies from champion high school teams with sophomores Woody Co, Martin Reyes, Migs De Asis and veterans Jay Agbayani, VJ Serios and Vicmel Epres leading the team. Some of the new players are already making their mark with great performances in past games like Mike Gamboa, Mark Lopez, and Julius Wong, among others.

At present, the UE Red Warriors leads all teams with a clean 9-0 record, followed by the DLSU Green Archers (6-3), then the FEU Tamaraws, and UST Growling Tigers, tied with 5-4, at third place. Not far behind are the ADMU Blue Eagles and NU Bulldogs (4-4), with the AdU Soaring Falcons (1-7) and the Maroons lagging behind.
