Mickie vs. The World
Mickie's explosive debut on a recent RAW was proof that the Women's Division can expect a fresh new dose of excitement and action in the near future. We were also pleased to note that RAW's newest Diva is also incredibly hot. But that isn't the purpose of this article. Instead I intend to focus upon how Mickie is likely to fair against each of the RAW Divas and to suggest where she has the upper hand, and where her opponents are superior to her. Hopefully it should make interesting reading and it'll be curious to see how much (if any) of this is actually accurate.

Candice Michelle:
Aggression:
When you think of physically intensive, aggressive Divas, Candice is not the
first woman to spring to mind. Although not yet a fully fledged wrestler, there
is a possibility that she may still face Trish sometime soon in one form of
match or other. There is no doubting though that Candice can be feisty when she
wants to and that there is a definite mean streak in her. Her recent double-team
attack on Ashley with Torrie Wilson, is evidence of her ability to get rough.
But still she's more likely to remain bitchy rather than physical.
Size: Mickie and Candice share some similarities in terms of
their build. Neither are as strikingly athletic as Trish for instance. Both
have a fuller figure and both are of a similar height. But where Mickie differs
from Candice is in her physique. Mickie is far more muscular and in any kind
of confrontation between the two, Mickie should always have the upper hand.
Power: Candice was never built to be a body-builder. Very little
of Candice is actually muscle, which is hardly surprising considering the fact
that she spends more time posing and looking good than getting up close and
personal. Mickie very definitely has the advantage here with her more muscular
build and her spitfire like attitude. Mickie is perhaps only second to Victoria
in power and thus Candice would never stand a chance against her.
Style: In a match or confrontation between the two, Candice
would almost certainly try and turn things into a cat fight. Mickie however should
just try and ignore Candice's pitiful efforts and instead just deliver a few
well-executed moves to take her out.
Overall: Candice poses a very small threat to Mickie indeed.
She is perhaps only dangerous in a sneak attack or when teamed up with Torrie
Wilson. Other than that, there's very little reason to lose sleep over the prospect
of facing Candice.
Lita:
Aggression:
Looking back at the many fights we've seen between Trish and Lita over the years,
it is clear that Lita can definitely mix things up with the best of them when
she wants to. Her xtreme attitude and willingness to take often unnecessary
risks means that when she finally returns to wrestling she will almost certainly
be one of Mickie's more interesting opponents. Lita has also shown a relatively
recent move toward more powerful and punishing moves which is also clear evidence
of a greater determination to win. Mickie would need to give it her all to pull
off a victory against Lita.
Size: Mickie and Lita are of a similar build, but with Lita
having a definite height advantage. Lita is a whole three inches taller than
Mickie and could try and use this to intimidate her. But both Divas are of a
similar weight, and neither one could easily knock the other off their feet.
In real terms they are fairly evenly matched.
Power: As mentioned previously, Lita has recently begun to
utilise more powerful moves such as her powerbomb finisher. Both Divas are also
undoubtedly muscular, but it would appear that Mickie has the upper hand here.
In a contest where sheer brute force will win the day, it is likely that Mickie
will win. Mickie has recently put on a lot of muscle and is also brimming
with energy. A speedy and strong adversary will be very hard for Lita to defeat.
Style: Lita is renowned for her willingness to take risks and
her love of aerial moves. She is also a solid technical wrestler and thus has
the potential to be one of the most varied wrestlers in terms of moves that
Mickie might have to face. Mickie should stick to her strong technical mat work
to defeat Lita rather than allow the red head to gain momentum and take to the
air.
Overall: Lita has the potential to be an incredible opponent
for Mickie to overcome. With Lita's recent absence from the ring and uncertainty
over when she will next wrestle, it is likely that Mickie would have become an
established Diva with a few matches under her belt, before we see these two
Divas go head-to-head.
Torrie Wilson:
Aggression:
Much like Candice, Torrie is not known for being aggressive. But as has been
seen with her past scuffles with Stacy Keibler or Dawn Marie, this Diva can
easily become jealous and angry and turn into a more dangerous adversary. It
is only usually once a match is properly underway that Torrie may allow her
anger to come into play. Even when her temper does flare up however, she becomes
a threat, but nothing that Mickie shouldn't be able to easily take care of.
Size: Torrie is one of the taller Divas on RAW and would
almost certainly try and make a point of this in a match between the two. Of
late, Torrie has lost a lot of weight and has very little weight behind her now.
Therefore she would need to try and use her height to an advantage to gain extra leverage
on certain moves for instance. But Torrie is not particularly muscular either,
so her ability to deliver punishing moves is somewhat limited. So long as Mickie
doesn't allow Torrie to sneak in some of her trademark DDTs, she should be fine.
A quick and all-out attack would most likely yield the best results should the
two ever face-off.
Power: Mickie is by far the stronger of the two Divas. Torrie
has in the past shown that she is stronger than she looks, having thrown Trish
around with relative ease and slamming her to the mat on occasion. But it would
be wrong to think that she could sustain this kind of wrestling for long. Mickie
is the obvious superior here and would almost certainly press this advantage.
Style: Torrie is not a proper wrestler unlike Trish for instance.
Instead she is half-way between the cat-fighting competence of Candice and the
pure wrestler that Trish has become. This also makes her quite unpredictable
and there can be times when she pulls out a surprisingly good move catching
all off guard. In a match, Mickie should prevent things degenerating into a cat
fight and keep it to a wrestling style she is comfortable with.
Overall: Torrie is much more of a threat than Candice is for
instance, but she is still one of the lesser threats on the RAW roster. She
can hold her own in the ring and would be likely to try and secure the victory
through cheating. So long as Mickie keeps her wits about her in a match between
the two, she should easily be able to secure the victory.
Trish Stratus:
Aggression:
Trish is not known for her particularly ruthless or aggressive nature. In
terms of pure rage she probably loses out to Victoria, but nonetheless, she
is capable of becoming fired up and deeply involved in a match particularly
when a title is at stake.
Size: Trish is the same height as Mickie so can gain no advantage here.
She is slightly more slender than Mickie which may potentially make her slightly
more agile, but also may make it harder for her to knock Mickie off her feet.
Generally the two are pretty evenly balanced in this regard, with Mickie perhaps
having a slight advantage.
Power: Trish is probably on a par with Lita in terms of power, but is much
less likely to resort to the use of moves such as powerbombs as Lita has recently.
Trish is nonetheless a very competent operator in the ring and definitely poses
a serious threat to Mickie. Mickie would probably be the winner in a battle
of strength between the two, but Trish has repeatedly taken down much stronger
opponents such as Jazz and
Victoria in the past, so shouldn't be taken lightly. Trish is just as nippy
as Mickie so Mickie would do well to hit hard and hit fast in a fight against
the blond.
Style:
Trish very definitely likes to keep the match on the ground and very
rarely utilises aerial moves. Trish is an accomplished technical wrestler and
often relies upon speed and ingenuity to get her out of a tight situation. Mickie
is equally fast, but having a slight power advantage and less of a fear of taking
to the air, employing moves of these types could be the key to success.
Overall:
Trish is an established wrestler who has spent years honing her in-ring
moves. She is a 6-time Women's Champion and has held the belt longer than anyone
else. There is a good reason for these facts, and therefore Trish is a very
real challenge to Mickie. Mickie would need to consistently pull something special
out of the bag to stand any reasonable chance of being able to upset a wrestler
as talented as Trish.
Victoria:
Aggression:
Victoria quickly established herself as a psycho, and much of this was a
result of her extremely aggressive and spontaneous nature. No other Diva on the
roster is quite capable of matching Victoria in terms of her ability to come to
the ring like a bat out of hell, and then consistently and comprehensively
destroy an opponent. Her wild mood swings can also count against her as she
allows herself to become unnecessarily enraged by menial things allowing her
opponent to capitalise upon this.
Size: Victoria is currently the largest
Diva on the RAW roster both in terms of weight and height. This means that
Mickie will have a much harder time knocking her off her feet. As wrestlers such
as Trish have proven however, it is nonetheless possible and if Mickie keeps her
head and doesn't allow herself to become intimidated, she too should be able to
take Victoria on and win.
Power: Prior to joining the WWE, Victoria was a
lot more muscular. Although she has lost a fair amount of this muscle, she
remains the strongest and most physical Diva on the roster. Her strength has
only ever been challenged by Jazz and Molly Holly, but with both of those Divas
gone, it will continue to remain unchallenged for the time being. Mickie is
inferior to Victoria in this regard and should therefore attempt to gain the
upper hand through a continuous stream of fast attacks with the hope of winning
a war of attrition. If Mickie were to allow Victoria to gain control of the
match, she would find herself quickly losing as Victoria utilises her strength
to destroy her.
Style: As mentioned before, Victoria is fond of more
powerful attacks, but is also willing to take to the air. Her obvious deficiency
is a lack of speedy attacks. If Mickie were to use these against Victoria she
may be able to strike before Victoria even knows what's going on.
Overall:
Victoria is perhaps the biggest threat to Mickie due to her sheer size and
strength. Her only major weaknesses are her comparative slowness and the fact
that she often allows herself to become unnecessarily annoyed by certain events.
The key to success against Victoria very definitely lies in hit-and-run style
techniques.
