Geocities? My apologies go out to everyone. I am using it because it is free and the
advertisements aren’t that shamelessly horrible and obtrusive. You can turn them off if you are reading a
long page. I am using Geocities because
I want a permanent place for my website that I don’t have to pay for. Because it is free, in other words.
Desert
Solitaire is actually the title of a book by Edward Abbey. At one time I believed the desert was
horrible place and couldn’t understand why anyone would ever like it. After reading his book I became desert
enlightened. Our arid regions are
beautiful and I enjoy them immensely.
His book is also a great book on the environment and National
Parks. Reading it would do anyone good.
I
used Microsoft Word for the most part, just because what I want to do is
simple. Word lacks any depth whatsoever
as a web editor, but lucky my tastes are simple. I chose to go with plane jane style. Content over flash. I
read a great article on “Zen and the art of webpage design.” The link is below and it is a good guide
for any webpage development.
It
is rare to see a webpage that is simple, loads quick and you know what the
content and the quality of the content are in a matter of minutes. I do have pictures on some webpages, but
only ones that are meaningful and relevant in my head. As for the true quality and content of this
website, that’s for you to decide.
