This
is not me! It's Small Clanger. It started as a temporary pic but had a better
response than the real pictures of me. So it's staying. You can link to the
Clangers page here soon. The Clangers was a 1970s TV show made by Oliver Postgate,
maker of Ivor the Engine and Bagpuss. The Clangers originally appeared on Noggin
The Nog when one fell into the horse trough in Noggin's village. He was asked
to help send it back to the moon, and did so. Later, they "went solo" and got
their own series. The Clangers live on the moon, in caves under the surface.
They make blue string pudding, and harvest music from music trees. They know
the Soup Dragon, and the Iron Chicken. They make odd musical noises (made by
the show's crew with those tin-whistle-slider instruments - what are they called?
There was a script for the Clangers, although there is no dialogue at all. You
can make out what they are saying if you listen very carefully (and some of
it is rude!)). The models for the Clangers were knitted, and stuffed with wire
frames, and you can get knitting instructions from the Clangers site to make
your own!
