High Falls, Georgia - In April of 1999, we went to High Falls state park located 25 miles north of Macon, Georgia. We started out on a short hike through one of the nature trails located inside the Park. After the hike, some of the boys went canoeing, others fishing, and other swimming. Later on that day, we went to the falls were we got up close and personal with the water falls. Needless to say, we had a good time.

Fall Camporee, Camp Ben Hawkins, Georgia - In September of 1999, the District had the Fall Camporee. There was a large showing of boys who attended this event. Troop 220 had eight boys that went, most of which were the the younger scouts (Scouts & Tenderfoots). The troop did very well considering that this was the first time for 6 of the 8 boys. We took 2nd place in First Aid and 1st overall.

DeSoto Caverns, Alabama - In November of 1999, the troop went to Alabama's DeSoto Caverns located south of Montgomery. We were treated to an overnight stay inside the caverns.

Andersonville Parade, Georgia - Troop 220 was well represented for this event. Following the parade, a Civil War re-enactment was preformed. This was the highlight for this event and very loud.

Pensacola/USS Alabama/Fort Conde - January 15 - 17, 2000 - We started our trip to see the Pensacola NAS museum. Some of the boys got to see the history of the of the Navy's Airforce, both past and present. We didn't take any pictures here, but this museum is one of the best that any of us has seen. This is a must see if you are interested in some history of the navy as well as in other branches of the military. Our next stop was the USS Alabama Battleship. Before we boarded the battleship, we took a tour of Fort Conde located in Mobile, Alabama. Here, we had a guided tour thoughtout the fort. Our guide, who was dressed in a French soldier uniform, fired a musket rifle. After the tour, we took a short hike on the Historical Trail. During this hike, stopped at the Phoenix Steam Fire Company museum where we explored old fire trucks and equipment. After our hike, we enbarked for the battleship and submarine. This was the highlight of our trip. First, we entered the hanger where we saw serveral airplanes, including an A-12 (the prototype for the SR-71). Next, we climbed aboard the USS Drum Submarine, a WWII class sub. Finally, the boys got their gear and boarded the battleship to spend the night, sleeping in bunks like sailors.

Spring Camporee - March 3 - 5, 2000 - the Big Indian Creek District held an eventful Camporee. The theme of the camporee was Emergency Preparedness, and our troop was fared well over the weekend. Upon arriving, Senior Patrol Leader Matt assigned the troop to their duties. Next, the troop set up camp and their patrol gear. That night, we were welcomed to the Perry's National Fairgrounds by nature with a refreshing downpour of rain. Saturday morning at 7am, reveille offered by our own Steven. After breakfast, the Flag Raising ceremony was preformed by troop 550 followed by the Uniform Inspection. Next came the activities, which are as followed: Performing CPR, tying knots, constructing stretchers, explaining what to do in emergency situations, and general first aid. During the activities, we had Campsite inspection, which we did pretty good thanks the our leaders. Lunch was scheduled at 11:30. After lunch, the Peach County and Houston County Fire Departments put on a demonstration. They demonstrated how they cut a car with their equipment to rescue the victim(s) (an old car was donated). Needless to say, the demonstration was excellent. Afterwards, we had an extended break time. Deciding on further recognition at the camporee, the Jaws Patrol's, Christian and Chris, entered their dinner for the Best Dinner Competition. With a secret recipe marinating sauce and good an old campfire cooking ingenuity, the pair came up second in a close race earning the troop the "Silver Spatula" award. Later that night was the campfire and awards ceremony. Entertained with many skits, the troops eagerly awaited to find out who got what awards. As mentioned before, Troop 220 represented well and came up with a 1st place overall to the Jaws Patrol and 2nd place to the Panthers Patrol. Sunday morning, after the Flag raising, came the church ceremony. Joshua (Troop 220) lead the camporee in prayers. Written by Christian, Scribe (Troop 220)
