Golden Acorn is an intense, 5-1/2 day, outdoor leadership
training experience for troop youth leaders. Its principle function is to help
Scoutmasters by training their top boy leaders in the skills of
leadership. This course is a National
BSA-developed course that follows the material provided in the 21st
Century WoodBadge training for adults.
Changes for Golden Acorn 2004:
1. Course will follow the new National JLT Syllabus
2. Course is shortened to 5-1/2 days
Candidates report to camp by 1:30pm on Sunday
Course is completed at 5pm on Friday
All candidates MUST be picked up
before 8pm on Friday. No dinner meals
on Friday are available.
3. Oak Leaf training is no longer mandatory – Scout MUST have completed a leadership training course, either a Troop JLT or District event, proven by a “Trained” patch on their uniform.
4. More opportunities for Candidate Orientation, including a Thursday night offering
5. Six (6) weeks of Golden Acorn are planned, starting one week before Summer Camp (Week 0)

Scout must meet the following criteria:
1. Be at least 13 years old and a First Class
Scout by the first day of the Golden Acorn week for which they are applying
2. Currently hold, or plan to soon hold, a
leadership position in their troop
3. Have completed a leadership training course, such as Troop JLT, in his Troop or District, proved by a Trained patch on his uniform.
A postcard and/or e-mail will be sent to you indicating receipt of an Interest Form
Packets will be mailed starting in December 2003

Golden
Acorn is an intense, 5-1/2 day, outdoor leadership training experience for
troop youth leaders. Its principle function is to help Scoutmasters by training

Each training troop (Week of
GA) is limited to 64 candidates. No
more than 8 candidates per week from any one troop may attend – one per
Patrol. The conference will be held at
Camp Meisenbach on Clements Scout Ranch.
To
attend Golden Acorn, each Scout must meet the following criteria:
1. Be at least 13 years old and a First Class
Scout by the first day of the Golden Acorn week for which they are applying
2. Currently hold, or plan to soon hold, a
leadership position in their troop
3. Complete and send this Interest Form to
Circle Ten Council, along with a non-refundable $25 Interest Fee
4. Have completed a leadership training
course, such as Troop JLT, in his Troop or District, proven by a Trained patch
on his uniform.
5. Complete and return the Registration Packet
to Circle Ten Council by May 15, 2004
6. Attend a Golden Acorn Orientation on either
May 15th (9am, 10:30am, or 1:30pm) or May 20th (7:30pm)
at Council Office,
or on May 8th (10am or 2pm)
at the Scout Show, Market Hall
