During the second week in August, 31 Scouts and 6 Leaders spent a week at Onteora Scout Reservation in Livingston Manor, NY.
This was the first time in many years that Troop 45 returned to summer camp at Onteora. Once a staple of every Troop 45 summer, the camp went through a bad time in the 80s and is just re-starting summer camp. 2001 marked the first year of 2 weeks of camp and the 4th year since it re-opened on a limited basis. The camp will operate for 2 weeks again next year and then will open full time as a traditional summer camp in 2003.
During our week in camp, Troop 45 Scouts cooked all meals while still doing all the traditional summer camp activities. Troop 45 was an Honor Troop every day during the week, won the Swim Carnival (thanks Mr. Schweiger for your help), and was a first rate Troop all week. We were the largest Troop at camp and made our presence known.
Another successful summer camp for Troop 45!
