Saturday, March 24th is Gund Arena Adult CPR Instruction

Please Bring $10 registration fee on March 1st.

What:

Red Cross Adult CPR training (certification)

Hundreds of people attend this training each year. Sessions start every 30-60 minutes starting early in the morning. People are grouped into rooms for an orientation session and then assigned to (one or more) trainer(s). The training lasts about 4 hours and ends with a written exam.

Mrs. Nemeth (and family) is/are instructors. Mrs. Nemeth is arranging for us to be her "group". Her "group" will start at 8:30 a.m. and end the training at 12:30.

Where:

Gund arena. Follow the crowds. Once inside, tell staffers that you’re in the 8:30 session with Mrs. Nemeth.

When:

The training is on Saturday, March 24th but the pre-registration is this week, March 1st.

Actually, Mrs. Nemeth is supposed to turn in her roster and payment by March 1st. Mrs. Nemeth has agreed to give us an extra day to pay.

How:

Pay at the March 1st mtg. (at the Rock Climbing location) or send your payment along with someone who is going to the Rock Climbing Mtg. Then show up.

How Much:

$10 includes a T-shirt and a CPR book.

Why:

CPR certification is good for 1 year. In part because you need to keep current on up-to-date methods, and partly because you need to revisit your training unless you do a couple of CPR’s per month anyway.

You might also want to take advantage of this inexpensive, quick training to complete your Swimming, First Aid, etc. Merit Badge work.

What else:

  1. There’s a break late in the morning either just before or just after the written exam which can be used to grab a snack. It’s handy to have a water bottle and a small lunch or snack with you for these breaks.
  2. Bring some extra cash to pick up a small "Rescue Breathing Protection" device. The small single-use ones (I think they were $2.50 or so) come on a keychain ring in a very small package (you can repack / re-use them if you want to spend the time - tight fit). The larger ones are heavier duty. They also have good prices on Red Cross first aid kits which you might be interested in if you’re a coach or something.
