Civic activities Troop 18 is involved in.

We are proud to be a part of the Portales Community!

Relay For Life- Portales, NM- This event is held in the Eastern New Mexico University Grayhound Arena. It is a community event in which teams form to walk a marathon to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Troop 18 had a team of participants in this highly successful event in which the community came out in forces. March 2000.
Relay for Life/ Scout Fair- Ned Houk Park, North or Clovis, NM- This event is also very popular in the Clovis community and Troop 18 is proud to participate. In conjunction with the marathon, the local district Scout Fair is held in which all the local BSA and Cub Scout Troops attend. We demonstrate skills and help with activities for the Cub Scout.
Health Awareness Fair- Walmart, Portales, NM- Troop 18 participated by holding child abuse seminars and by giving out pamplets about child abuse.
Portales Food Bank Canned Food Drive- Held in Walmart, Hinkles IGA, and Super Save Grocery Stores, in Portales- This is done yearly to help restock the local food bank for those less fortunate.
Oasis State Park Service Project- Troop 18 camps at Oasis State Park several times a year. We work on restoring the trails, moving rocks and picking up trash, general up keep of the Park grounds. We combine this with activities and skills trianing for the troop.
Roosevelt County Fairgrounds- Troop 18 does general clean up after the Fair and Ag Expo and many other events held at the fairgrounds.
Fort Stockton and Pine Lake- Conservation Good Turn-
Heritage Day Parade and the Eastern New Mexico University Homecoming parade- Troop 18 marches as a troop to show community support and to display who we are to the community.
