ccs in north america: cardcaptors

Yo, minna! Wassup? Well, certainly not this page...I don't think I've updated this thing for a very...very...long time. (a yr to be exact or there's about) heh heh... gomen ne. I mean, for crying out lout it had an article saying that CCS was "going" to be released in North America. heh heh...let's just say, it _has_ been released and ppl who were into CCS before, certainly do not like what Nelvana has changed. I've just decided to make a section telling ppl about it. I haven't seen the "new" series myself so I have to use other ppl's info but please visit their sites. They'll be more thorough than I. ^^

flaming geeks: cuts/changes to ccs

NEwayz...

changes to the series

Cardcaptors, now known as the American version of CCS, was recently released this year as a result of the popularity to the series Pokémon. Hoping to gain the same results (incl. money), Nelvana has bought the rights to release CCS. However, not surprisingly, the anime has been changed. And thus, follows in the footsteps of Sailormoon and Dragonball. (I think Pokémon and Digimon are fairly close to the original.) NEwayz, this site is to show ppl the differents between Cardcaptors and the original. I'll be sure to put more opinion when I get to see the series. ^^ heh heh...

[general] The focus is placed more on the group (or Shaolan) than on Sakura. Clow is now pronounced with an "ow! that hurt!" sound...blah, blah, blah...[more to come...]

[characters] Every single one of the characters' names have been changed. At least, they kept Sakura's first name. It was going to be Nikki. 0_o Apparently, it was to make the names more easy to pronounce. heh heh...you have to give kids more credit. If they can name all 150 (and then some) pokémon, what makes you think they can't pronounce "fujitaka". ^^;
here they are:

Sakura Kinomoto --> Sakura Avalon
Shaolan Li --> Li Showron *pause*...-_-;
Cerberus/Kero-chan --> Kero
Tomoyo Daidouji --> Madison Taylor
Touya Kinomoto --> Tori Avalon
Yukito Tsukishiro --> Julian Star >_<
Meiling Li --> Meilin Rae
Fujitaka Kinomoto --> Aiden Avalon
Nadeshiko Kinomoto --> Natasha Avalon
Kahou Mizuki --> Layla MacKenzie
Chiharu --> Chelsea
Rika --> Rita
Naoko --> Nikki
Takashi --> Zachary
heh heh...I have many comments on these names, here are a few... I absolutely despise Yukito's "new" name. (gomen ne to all you real Julian Stars. ^^;) Is it really that hard to pronounce Rika as opposed to Rita?... Avalon...ick. Tori...Egad!!! yeah, don't like that name either. ^^

[episodes] Well, one of the first things you will notice in Cardcaptors is that it starts with episode 8. 0_o....that made sense... but apparently since it's the episode where Shaolan first appears, the purpose of this change is to get guys interested in the series. That...I'm fine with...it's just that they're only airing thirteen episodes in a somewhat sporadic order. heh heh...the original series is suppose to have 70. 0_o (btw, get used to that face...you'll be seeing it a lot.)

here's the order so far, for the episodes.
1. Sakura Rival (sakura's rival appears [eps. 8])
2. Time and Again (sakura's never ending day [eps. 12])
3. The Cave (sakura's scary test of courage [eps. 17])
4. Power's Ploy (sakura & the elephant's contest of strength [eps. 13]) 0_o
5. Double Edged Sword (sakura & the mysterious brooch [eps. 9]) 0_o
6. The New Rival (sakura and the fighting exchange student [eps. 20])

[theme song] heard that it could make ears bleed. 0_o

If you would like to read an old...very old article about the release of ccs in North America, please go here. With that done, this section now be finished...if only I can type Cardcaptors right on the first try. (out of habit, I put a space b/w card and captors. ^^)
