when i was a little kid, me and a friend named hanne,
used to sit on her swing-set on top of the hill, where she lived, and sing worship songs as loud as we could, listening as the ecco came back from across our little valley... i believed the stories about god were true, and the songs, they did something to me.
as i grew older i remember a conversation with another friend, bente, on our way home from school one day we were talking about jesus. it must have been 5th or 6th grade, we were talking about whether or not we believed that he really rose from the dead. i said that i believed it was true, and remember this as an important wrinkle in time...
right around the time i turned 14, i got saved. i had been singing in this christian choir for some time, and on one of our weekends i had this wierdest experience - someone else entered my universe... yes, thats what it looked like to me - jesus moved in - i just knew that everything had now changed, he was living in me. going back to school the following monday was interresting, as i told my classmates that i had gotten saved that weekend - they replied "how did that happen", and "how can we get saved?" - but i had no idea of how this had all happened, all i knew was that jesus lived within me... so i wasn't of any great help to anyone...
well, more than 15 years later i am living with my husband
and son in the middle of 500 christians in a big 10 floor building, inner-city chicago... we live communally which means we share our money, cars, meals and lives... and everything is still changed... he still lives in me, in fact he never left from that late night in skien/porsgrunn where he first entered... i must say having this intimate friendship with him is the best that has ever happened to me, ever! it is slowly changing me, freeing me up to be a wholesome being, free to be whatever it is that i am - with all my quirks and stuff - free to love the people around me... i love my life.
