| The year is 1990 and my Mother & I are living in an apartment in Lakeland, Florida with no power, no food and no money. I was a jobless 21 year old with long hair and not one single company in Polk County would hire me. So in May of 1990, I cut my hair and started job searching. I looked everywhere from convienience stores to restuarants to any odd job I could find, but as luck would have it, I still came home with no job. So, in a last ditch effort, an old friend of mine named Bud Ellision suggested "Disney World". I chuckled at the idea, but then I said, "What the heck, it can't hurt to try". So on Thursday, May 10th, 1990, we drove to the Disney Casting Center and with a Judas Priest shirt on and ripped up jeans, "The Walt Disney World Company" hired me as a Merchandise Host at the "Dick Tracy Gift Shop" in "The Disney / MGM Studios". The rest is history . . . |
