Doubt

By Caleb Warner

The gales of doubt are blowing

Even as you walk

Into the room

You can sense the uncertainty

It should not be this way

No, not here

In the one place

Where there ought to be faith

There is skepticism

Wherever there is assumed to be assurance

Hesitation reigns

In this sacred room

In a house of worship

In a church

Where all is to be believed

All is not

People should trust in the One

The Solitary Being

That dictates their lives

Yet they repeatedly

Annunciate the plead

That should have been said

At the first

And then taken for truth

Faith should have been accepted

Hope should have been acknowledged

The promise of the One

That was meant for all

Is now not counted on

They have doubt that rules them

That now requires them to repeat

This prayer

We need to rise up

And cast off all disbelief

And accept that we have been accepted

By God
