She sits in silent splendour
Her ashen locks drape o’er her face Eyes of a brilliant colour Under lashes set like lace Pen in hand, she concentrates On the writing ‘neath her hand Flowing lines of poetry Pour out like stars on the sand Her jaw is set in frustration The flow of words has thinned Blue eyes glow like diamonds As she gains her second wind Rushing through the back door Shouting her claim to the skies Leaping from the doorstep’s height “I have done it! It’s finished!” she cries. Sighing with joy, her work is done She slowly strolls back in A master poet, with the heart of an artist Is the radiant Carolynn.
