After the scarlet sparrow
sings his last song in the tree
Sweetly singing to the ‘morrow
that he knows he’ll never see
When the wolf cries one last time
to the blue of bluest moons
And Wind sings perfect rhyme
o’er the mirroring lagoon
And when the deer runs through the meadow
his own and sacred halls
Lifting up his crown of yellow
his farewell to Wind he calls
When the breath of darkness blows
chilling flower, earth, and mind
After moonlight dies to shadow
in the memory of Father Time
The stars shall fall as raindrops
to the gleaming ground below
And as the Summer breeze stops
they shall glisten as fallen snow
When dear Sun falls in the golden
flaming fires of the West
I’ll return to days of olden
and forever, there I’ll rest
And to the meadow of ashes
when the deer returns again
Through the corridors again dashes
‘neath the starless sky of rain
The wolf shall sing his love song
up to the moon that used to be
In the darkness left only to long
for that distant memory
Again dear Wind shall dance through
the leafless willow trees
Forever left to weep tears unfew
in the shadow of a dream
When all is said and done
and my Journey’s reached its end
Down the path I’ll turn to run
‘round the pathway’s narrow bend
Wind at my back I’ll racing
