WEBELOS' WEEKEND
WEBELOS' weekend was conceived in 1989 by members of Troop 180 as a way to
give the WEBELOS of Pack 180 an opportunity to act as a Boy Scout Patrol.
The idea is to have the boys learn Boy Scouting from Boy Scouts.
The weekend has been so successful that it is now run by members of Troop 180
of Bergenfield, and Troop 286 of Bloomingdale. It is open to WEBELOS of Pack 180
of Bergenfield, Packs 23 of Dumont, and Pack 86 of Bloomingdale.
Prior to the weekend the WEBELOS are broken up into patrols and are assigned
a Patrol Leader and Assistant Patrol Leader from one of the Boy Scout Troops.
They will think of a Patrol Name, and it is their responsibility to make a
Patrol flag and learn the Patrol yell before arriving at camp.
The weekend officially starts at 10:00 on Saturday morning with Morning
Colors and a short orientation, and then they are off to:
............Totin' Chip
............Forester Activity Pin
............Geologist Activity Pin
............Naturalist Activity Pin
............Outdoorsman Activity Pin
............Orienteering
............Campfire Skits
............etc. etc. etc.
The weekend ends on Sunday following Inter-Patrol competitions and a brief
Closing Ceremony.
