At the USS Hornet Aircraft Carrier in Alameda
Get the Scout-O-Rama Registration Form for each unit by clicking here!
The Scout-O-Rama is a two-day event of fun and excitement for Scouts, their families, and the communities we serve. Our Scout-O-Rama allows all units to showcase Scouting's unique and exciting programs in a council-wide location, which this year is the very unique and special facility, the USS Hornet Aircraft Carrier in Alameda.
This year's event will include a new Friday night show, overnight experience in the Hornet bunks or on the flight deck (your unit's choice), and a wide variety of new activities on Saturday in addition to the unit booths/advancement activities.
New Activities in a New Location:
Activities unique to this year’s Scout-O-Rama will include:
· Fantastic evening show on Friday night
· Special high adventure activities on Saturday on the USS Hornet Flight Deck
· A complete look at the historic aircraft carrier that brought home the Apollo 11 mission (first men on the moon)
· Overnight experience can be in one of 700 bunks or in your own bedroll on the Flight Deck. This overnight experience is $35.00 per person, a $15.00 discount from the regular "Live Aboard" overnight provided by USS Hornet on any other weekend.
In addition, your unit will be again invited to:
· Sponsor an advancement activity or similar interactive display for your Scouts to share with the many youth and adults attending Scout-O-Rama (subject to usual Scout-O-Rama guidelines).
· Send your Scouts out to visit all the other booths and displays, and complete requirements toward their own rank advancements, Cub Scout electives, and/or Boy Scout merit badges.
· Enjoy the overnight experience with hundreds of other Scouts and Venturers within our council. (Each Tiger Cub/Cub Scout/Webelos Scout, grades 1-5, must be accompanied by a parent/guardian for the overnight experience, according to guidelines in the Guide to Safe Scouting.)
Make the Commitment to Be Part of Scout-O-Rama 2005:
Enclosed is your unit’s commitment card to participate in the 2005 Scout-O-Rama. We encourage you to fill it out and return to the BSA Youth Leadership Training Center as soon as possible. Your unit can sign up for Saturday-only activities, or be part of the entire Scout-O-Rama from Friday evening all the way through the closing ceremonies.
Early Bird Drawing: Return your commitment card by February 28, and get your unit into the drawing for the "Early Bird Signups". The drawing will be for one unit in each of our five districts, and those units will win admission to our Friday, June 3 pizza party on the Hornet "fantail" at the Scout-O-Rama.
New Sales Program—
Scout-O-Rama Admission combined with Coupon Books:
In 2005, our money-earning campaign will be expanded to a full-size Coupon Book. Net proceeds of the Coupon Book sales not only support the Scout-O-Rama, but will provide your unit the chance to earn money you need for summer programs.

Who participates in the annual San Francisco Bay Area Council Scout o Rama?
All Scout Units: Cub Scout Packs, Boy Scout Troops, Varsity Teams, Explorer Posts, Sea Scout Ships, moms, dads, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, friends, and neighbors.
What is Scout-O-Rama ?
Scout o Rama is an annual festival of ScoutCraft put on by our Council. On that day Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts will gather and demonstrate some of the activities and crafts they have participated in this year. The young people in many of our units will be demonstrating unique skills and techniques they've learned in Scouting. Troops and Packs set up booths, games or exhibits for others to enjoy. This is a great opportunity to see what other Scouts in the Council have been doing.
Prior to the exhibitions, there is an overnight camping opportunity available to Webelos and Boy Scout-aged Scouts.
It is a day of fun for every member of the family, whether in or out of Scouting. It is a show put on by Cubs, Scouts, Venturers and Explorers for the general enjoyment of all who attend. Scout o Rama Expo will include demonstrations of many Scouting skills, with the opportunity for everyone to participate and learn. It is a hands-on experience for young and old. IT is ACTION, it is COMPETITION, and above all, IT IS FUN!
Each year, as a special added attraction, a Tiger Cub Graduation Ceremony is held. All Tiger Cubs and their families are encouraged to participate!
