| Getting the
job My Father-in-law landed a job in St. Joseph Missouri, so that is where we moved to start our new life. I looked in the paper after the move, and found a job in one day. It was with Decker. They sent me a bus ticket and I went up there to start my new job. |

My Job Description
I was issued my own truck and got to
take it home on the weekends. I would pick up and deliver temperature controlled frieght
all over the Midwest between Kansas and Ohio, and up into Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconson, and
Michigan.

The Good Points
I drove the same truck every week, by
myself. I took the truck home every week. I got to see the caves in Kansas City and
Southern Missouri. They have huge warehouses inside those caves.

The Bad Points
Driving in the Midwest in the Winter
has it's challenges. Like driving on solid ice, and foggy conditions at the same time.

Why I Stopped Working There.
I was fired on my 89th day. No reason was given. I told
the boss that my next employer will want to know why I was let go by you. He would not
respond. I said I want a termination letter, stating a reason. He declined.
While I was working there, I had a 100% on time record, with no tickets, no accidents, and no freight claims. I am still scratching my head, wondering why they let me go. Oh well... Winter was setting in, the wife was not used to the cold and was looking for a reason to go back to California where it is warm. She was excited they I was fired, and we moved back to Fresno within a few days.
