While I worked at SNI, I kept tract of where I went and what I did. Some of this information will be interesting if you are thinking about getting into the trucking business.

December 1999

Wednesday, December 1, 1999

Delivered the Auto parts in Phoenix AZ, then went to Glendale AZ and got a load of wood chips going to Oroville CA (820 MI). I drove straight though to Fresno and got home at 10pm. Yes, I did drive too far. I legally should have stopped in Delano but wanted to be home.

Thursday, Dec 2

I left the house at 6pm and drove up to Oroville and delivered the wood chips at midnight. I was out of hours anyway, so that is why I stayed at home as long as I did. These chips had an open delivery time but I only had 6 hours to work today, and 6 hours tomorrow, So why should I drive up there in the morning and sit until midnight with 6 hours to run then? I was home 20 hours and the boss counted that as a day off. My log recap says I worked 6.75 today, and 6 hours on the 3rd, I don't see a day off there.

Friday, Dec 3

Sat until morning and then went to Chico and got a load of rice going to LA (466 MI) for Monday. I loaded up and drove home, there at 3:30pm.

Sat, Dec 4               OFF

Sunday, Dec 5

Left the house at 7pm and drove down to LA, and slept at the customer.

Monday, Dec 6

Delivered Rice then went to City Of Industry (21 MI) and dropped the empty trailer, then back to LA to the rail yard and get a loaded trailer going to Sears Delano (143 MI) and drop, then hook to loaded trailer going to Ventura (152 MI) for Tuesday morning. Drove to Ventura and slept at Sears.

Tuesday, Dec 7

Delivered Sears and the auto center, 550 tires!!!!!! I was a wreck when I was done hand unloading all that. But I still had to drive all day after that... I went to Industry and dropped the empty trailer then went to the rail yard and grabbed a loaded trailer and took it to Porterville CA (163 MI). Then dropped it there and grabbed an empty trailer and went to Sears Delano and dropped it and hooked to a loaded trailer going to Salem OR (776 MI). I hooked to it at 10:30pm and made it 25 miles up to Tulare and could not drive any more. I worked from 5:45am to 11pm today.

Wed, Dec 8

Left Tulare rest area and drove home, was home for 45 minutes to take a shower and eat a piece of toast. Then drove on to Sacramento and had a 2 hour meeting with Mike Ruminski, my boss, so I could tell him what I thought of his new home time policy. Then drove up to Salem Oregon, and slept at the Sears store. I total of 800 miles today. From 5:30am to 11:30pm

Thursday, Dec 9

Delivered 3 stops of Sears hand unload from 5:30am to 11:15am, then went to Albany Or. and dropped this mt trailer and hooked to a loaded trailer going to Medford OR. (204 MI). Made it to Medford at 5:30pm and found out that they had not unloaded the trailer I was there to P/U. It was still full. I had to wait until they unloaded it before I could put my loaded trailer in that door. I slept right there in the dock waiting for them to unload the other trailer.

Friday, Dec. 10

The trailer was empty at 2am, and they woke my up. I took out the empty trailer and put the loaded one in that door, then left and drove to Canyonville Or and waited for my next load. I went back to bed and got up and still didn't have a load, so I called in and had a fun conversation with Gary Cameron, my old STL ( Boss ). He told me to go to Roseburg Lumber in Dillard Or (84 MI) and get your load. Well, after waiting in line for hours, I pulled into the dock to get loaded and found out they would not load my trailer because it has a roll up door, and the doorway was too narrow for the load to fit through. They then sent me to Tenneco in Red Bluff CA (266 MI) to pick up a loaded trailer going to Chino CA for Monday morning for 6am. I drove to Red Bluff and P/U trailer then went to Corning and stopped for the night.

Saturday, Dec. 11

Got up at 5am and drove to Sacramento so I could yell at the boss some more about his home time policy.  Then drove home. Home at 3pm

Sunday, Dec. 12

Left the house at 7pm and drove down to Chino CA at 1am and slept at the customer.

Dec 13, Monday

Dropped trailer in Chino, in a door, and hooked to a "train trailer" and sat there until 11am when a load assignment came on the computer. I was sent to LA O/C to drop trailer and go to the rail yard and p/u a loaded trailer going to Sears Delano. When I got that trailer, I found it was over weight and I could not take it. I took it to the LA yard and dropped it. Then took the "Train trailer" back where I got it in Chino. They didn't want that trailer moved from Chino. Then I went to the Industry yard and got an empty trailer and went to Irvine CA (35 MI) and loaded it going to El Centro CA (200 MI). They got done loading it at 10 PM and I was must too tired to drive so I closed the doors and slept right there.

Dec 14, Tuesday

I got up at 5am and drove to El Centro and dropped that trailer, then hooked to another one going to Sony in Canada (1,466 MI). I drove all the way home from there (9 hours) and slept at home. Home at 8 PM. (I should have stopped in Bakersfield.)

Dec 15, Wednesday

Left the house at 7:30am and drove to Ashland Oregon. I did some Christmas shopping since a wasn't tired even though I drove all day.

Dec 16, Thursday

Got up at 4am and drove up to the yard in Auburn Washington, and stopped for the night.

Dec 17, Friday

Got up at 3am and drove up to Canada, and delivered at 7:30am. Then loaded across the river a load of paper rolls, going to Southern California, but only wanted me to take it to the Seattle rail yard, (120 MI) so it could go on the train. I got it to Seattle then bobtail to the Auburn yard and p/u an mt trailer and slept for the night. Done at 7pm.

Dec 18, Saturday

Got up at 4am and went to Tacoma (14 MI) and loaded paper rolls going to California, this one too, they wanted me to drop it, but this one went to our yard in Stockton CA (781 MI). I drove down to the TA in Redding CA. Stopped for the night at 9pm.

Dec 19, Sunday

Got up at 5am and drove to Stockton and dropped that trailer at the yard and hooked to a loaded trailer going to Sysco in Fremont CA (50 MI) for in the morning. I got to Fremont at 5pm and waited for morning to come.

Dec 20, Monday

Tried to deliver this load at 5am. My company would not pay for a lumper, and I refused to unload it myself, so the load was refused. I closed the doors and sat in the street all day and until 5am Tuesday. This was the beginning of the end.

Dec 21, Tuesday

Delivered load at 5am. Empty at 10:30am, then went to Stockton and dropped mt trailer and p/u loaded going to La Habra CA. Drove home, was home for 3 hours. Then drove to La Habra and stopped at 1:30 am.

Dec 22, Wednesday

Slept for 3 hours then delivered at 5am. This was a driver unload too, my company refused a lumper again, so I unloaded this load and was done at 1pm. Then dropped empty trailer at the LA yard, then to the LA rail yard, p/u a loaded trailer going to Wal-Mart in Porterville CA. I got to Porterville at 8pm, then drove home and quit.

Dec 23, Thursday

I cleaned out the truck and dropped it at the Fresno drop lot. This the end of my career at Schneider Nat'l.
