Dear Debby,
  Andy had minor surgery on Oct. 18 and the next morning between 2:30 and 5, he had a major stroke which left him completely paralyzed on his left side, speech impaired and his mind has been affected where he has trouble remembering things and gets easily confused, his speech is good now from speech therapy and he is beginning to move his leg and take
short baby steps while being held in a harness and with a walker but there is very little hope of him ever walking normally again and will never drive truck or work.

I've filed for SS disability but that was in Nov. and probably won't get anything until March if I'm lucky, I just hope they approve it as I am living on savings right now and that will run out in about March. VA has helped me alot and they have ordered a bed,bars for the bathroom,shower chair,port-a-potty and are installing wheelchair ramps and any other things needed in the house for him.

I tried a couple of medical supply stores and went on line looking for wheelchairs but the best deal I found was the one for $700.00 which is exactly what I need as far as used ones.   I was told they are hard to come by especially the kind I need for the house, I even looked in the papers but no luck. I've thought of the can thing for donations and asking neighbors but am too embarressed to do it.

I finally got rid of the truck, a friend bought it and I am holding the note on it so he pays me the payment every month.

Andy is 55 years old, was an O/O in Texas and he is in the VA Hospitol in Dallas his projection date to get out is Jan 31 but looks like he will be there for another couple of months.
