The Birth of the True Blue Cowboys Crew

It all began September 19, 1999 at a Dallas Cowboys' home party. We watched the Dallas Cowboys defeat the Washington Redskins in a thrilling overtime Victory. The setting and atmosphere was that of a Super Bowl party. Of those who attended, nine of the Cowboys' fans spoke of making this a weekly event, but with more Dallas Cowboys' fans attending. In other words, the nine thought of forming a NEW Dallas Cowboys' fan club. We agreed to meet the following Saturday to discuss the details.

We decided that this club had to have a purpose for existence other than meeting for Dallas Cowboys' games. We set as our #1 priority to help local charities. Next came the naming of this fan club. The evolution of our name went as follows:

The Silver & Blue and Little Stars Too

Ok, this was too Korny, but we liked "Blue"....................so nix the Silver and Little Stars and we have.......

The True Blue Fan Club

.....but True Blue could be the NY Giants or the Detroit Lions, so it needed more, and we have....

The True Blue Cowboy Club

...OK, so were we fans of just one Cowboy or a Western Cowboy club? We needed to make Cowboy plural and we wanted to make the name "catchy" and Crew better described our work ethic towards our #1 priority (Helping charities), so all nine founders agreed upon......

The True Blue Cowboys Crew

So as you can see, there was a lot of thought put into the naming of this fan club. The nine founders to whom this tribute is dedicated to are:

Geno Ontiveros, Cindy Beltran, George Sanchez, Tony Silva, Manny Salazar, Sharron Ontiveros, Danny Ontiveros, Andy Mata, & Cassandra Mata.

All that you will be read about would not have been possible without the above mentioned people. You will read about the successes and people we have touched. You will read about the growing pains we went through. This is a tribute to the nine founders that gave birth to the True Blue Cowboys Crew.

Since I last updated this, I have moved to Harlingen, Texas and have not had the chance to update this website. I will be working on it again, as I would like to share this story. This particular portion was updated 3/8/09
