Chapter One: The Stranger

Disclaimer: I do not own DB/Z/GT. I am using the characters for my own fun, amusement, and romance. If you try to sue, then all you'll get are two ginea pigs, an annoying little sister, and a pretty lavender scrunchie.

"I could never, ever leave you," he said softly. "I've loved you since...well, longer than you think."

Tears welled up in her eyes. How long she had been wanting him to say those exact words...

"I... I've always loved you..." she managed to whisper.

His eyes crinkled into a smile. "Then... you won't mind if I do this..." he bent his head down.

Chills ran down her spine as he leaned in for a kiss. She reached out to embrace him...

***

Pan sat up with a cry.

Smoke billowed out everywhere. Fingers of it seemed to wrap around her throat, trying to choke her. She rolled off her bed, trying to get a breath of clean air.

What the heck...? she thought. She crawled on her knees to the window and kicked it out swiftly. Glass shattered and some flew past her as the window fell out. She could dimly hear her kaasan and tousan calling her. Pan first crawled out, choking on smoke.

This is no fire, she thought grimly. This is a bombing. An explosion caused all that smoke.

Now she remembered the first thing that had waken her up. A loud, ear-shattering explosion. From the huge crator from the front of her house, it had probably been a ki blast.

Who in their right mind would go and try to blow a house with a ki blast? she wondered.

"Pan!" she heard her kaasan calling from the house.

"I'm outside, Kaasan!" she yelled.

"Videl, she's outside!" she heard her tousan yelling.

Pan choked. The tendrils of smoke were entering her mouth. I have to get away, she thought. She made her way through the smoke to the forest...

And it got worse.

Capsule Corperation was completely annihilated. She started to panic. Where's B-chan? Bulma-san and Vejiita-san? Trunks?! But she could feel their ki, some ways away. She breathed a sigh of relief. They were safe. Marron and her kaasan and tousan weren't far away, either.

She bit her lip. I hope Celira's ok, she thought. Celira was full Saiya-jin, with the black hair that stuck straight up and out in all directions, the liquid black eyes. Dende had wished him to Earth with the dragon balls, so that the Saiya-jin population wouldn't run thin anytime soon. Of course, he thought it was uproariously funny if everyone discovered Celira without knowing he had been wished there. Celira had appeared dead center of the gravity room... dead center of Vejiita's training too. Everyone had demanded Dende explain himself, so he did... between giggles. Unluckily for him, Vejiita didn't share his sense of humor. Lucky for him, Goku was able to restrain Vejiita. Pan had been the first to greet Celira kindly. Soon after, they became pretty close friends. Like he was her niichan.

Her mind snapped back to the present as she heard people calling her name. She sighed, relief washing over her, as she heard everyone's voices. Including Celira.

"I-" she started to call, but a figure swooped down in front of her, cutting her off. She gasped. He was the most gorgeous guy she'd ever seen. Silver-white hair fell in strands in his eyes. His eyes were pure silver. He was finely built. He wore a Saiya-jin-like suit, only white all over. His armor was spikey, spikes sticking from the shoulder pads and tiny spikes at the waist. Silver, metal bands gleamed from each of his wrists. He wore a blood red headband around his forehead, making all the more handsome. He looked gorgeous, wicked, and shocking all at once. He smiled. Such a beautiful smile... gleaming white, making his face seem more wicked in a boyish sort of way. It was slightly curled up at the right, and Pan felt fear, admiration, shock... and lust flood her senses all at once.

"Ah... Pan-chan... my wonderful Goddess," the guy murmured in a low, slightly husky voice. Pan felt chills tingle her spine. This guy seemed to have... some kind of... he seemed like he could just glance at a woman, and she would want to jump him.

"What... who...?" was all she could stammer. He took off his armor, his white suit showing off his muscles nicely.

"Pan-chan," he murmured again. "My Goddess... my angel... I have come."

"I... don't understand..." Fear was starting to take place of the fascination and lust.

He smiled again, making her heart jump to her throat. "I set off the explosion," he admitted quietly.

"But... why?" she asked.

He laughed. "Ah, Pan-chan..."

"Quit calling m that!" Fear was making her tremble.

He frowned slightly. Then he resumed his handsome smile. "Pan-chan, you must come with me, my angel."

Most of her lust was gone. "Why should I?" she spat.

He stepped close to her, grabbing her wrists with both of his hands. He stroked the backs of them gently. It was all Pan could do to keep the lust from springing back up. He frightened her... but fascinated her at the same time.

He leaned his face close to her ear. "Because... you are my chosen one. My chosen bride. I chose you... and now you must be mine."

Shock coursed through her veins. "No..." she managed to choke.

His eyes darkened. "You don't have a coice. I chose you."

"Why me?" she asked, fear taking over her black eyes.

He tilted his head slightly. "There's just... some aura... it makes you unique... special. Something anyone would want." His silver eyes grew dark again. "Anyone to turn you down would be a baka. And that's what you fear from someone... rejection. I don't know who, but I don't care. I chose you; I want you. You, Pan-chan."

"Don't call me that!" she said, her voice rising.

He was right, though. She did fear rejection from someone... the only person she had ever loved. He was so nice to her... a brother, like Celira was. She'd known him longer, and had had a crush on him at a young age, but that crush blossomed into a bud of love, waiting to burst out into a flower of passion.

Trunks.

His features darkened, making him just as beautiful. "If you don't come, I'll hunt each person you love... one by one."

"You won't get near my family," she said icily.

"Pan!" she heard someone call. He was close.

The stranger's grip tightened. "Come with me! You don't know what you could have!" he hissed.

"No! And you won't get near my family!" she screamed.

"Pan!" the person appeared behind her. "Hey! What the hell is going on?!"

The stranger released his grip on her and threw her backwards. "Fine," he said tightly. "I'm taking each person you love, one by one."

"Who the hell are you?" Trunks yelled, helping Pan up. The stranger laughed. Pan felt tingles shoot up her spine again.

"My name..." the stranger mused. "You may call me Quinn." Pan's eyes narrowed. She'd read American stories, and she'd heard of Quinn the vampire. This guy was either insane or really...

Quinn laughed. "Yes, Pan-chan." Pan felt Trunks stiffen as he used her pet name. "I am a vampire."

She stared at him in disbelief. "That's impossible," she whispered.

Quinn bared his teeth, and they both watched in horror as fangs protruded from his mouth, and his pupils disappeared, making his eyes pure silver. He chuckled at the looks on their faces. "I'm a purebred vampire... but not what you think. Those silly stories... none of them true. My race is stronger than a Saiya-jin in SSJ4."

"You bastard!" Trunks yelled. "What do you want with Pan?!"

Quinn stared at Pan adoringly, and she felt Trunks stiffen again as he noted the look on the vampire's face. His fangs disappeared. "She's... an angel. A Goddess. I want her. She's my chosen one."

"Well, you can go choose another girl, baka. I won't let you touch Pan."

Trunks said coldly, pushing Pan to the side and behind himself. Quinn looked at him in amusement. "But you can't stop me. I'll get her one way or another. This explosion... your homes getting destroyed... it's only the beginning. Unless," he added, looking at the girl. "... you've changed your mind."

Pan snarled. "Never."

Quinn shrugged. "Your choice."

Then he was gone.

Trunks looked at Pan, his anger draining. "That... bastard..." he muttered.

She looked at the place where Quinn had stood. "It was... hard to resist him," she murmured. "He's so... beautiful..." she turned to him, her eyes filling. "If you hadn't called my name... if you hadn't showed up... I might have given in," she admitted quietly.

Shock flared in Trunks' eyes. Pan... she was so stubborn, so tough... and she had almost given in? What kind of power did that vampire have?

"Pan... are you... okay?" he asked softly. She looked up. She was trembling.

"Trunks," she whispered. "I... don't think I... I don't think we can win this battle."

"Pan! Don't you ever say that!" he said firmly. "We'll do anything we can to help," he added more quietly.

She nodded. "H-hai. Gomen," she muttered.

"Pan! There you are!" Gohan ran up and embraced his daughter. Then he yelled over his shoulder, "They're both over here!"

Bulma, Bra, Vejiita, Goku, ChiChi, Videl, Krillin, 18, Marron, and Celira joined them.

"Thank Kami!" Videl hugged her daughter tightly, then noticed she was pale. "Pan, what's wrong?"

Pan tried to explain, but she choked. It was all too frightening.

"It's okay, Pan," Trunks said. "I'll tell them."

"You don't..." Pan started.

"I know enough," he answered, then explained about Quinn, his race, and his reasonings. When he was finished, Bra stared at her friend in disbelief.

"You mean... some cute vampire guy's going all nuts over you? No offense, or anything, but why would he go after you when he could be chasing and threatening me! I'm jealous!" Bra exclaimed. This struck Pan as funny and she began to laugh.

Trunks grinned. He liked seeing Pan happy. He knew she might have a crush on him. He'd caught hints more than once in the past couple years. He also knew he loved her.

Remembering Quinn calling Pan "Pan-chan"... angered him. That... that's what I would have called her... and now... if I did... it'd just bring up memories of... him. he thought miserably. He didn't hear the conversation going on around him, until Goten asked him something.

"Trunks, could you... um... help us here?"

"Huh?"

He dragged himself back to reality from his daydreaming.

Everyone was trying to figure out where to go. CC was destroyed... almost the whole housing area was gone.

"The cave," Pan's numb voice came from the back.

Everyone stopped. "What cave?"

Pan explained about a cave she'd discovered back sometime after they'd found Celira. He nodded. "I forgot about that." Trunks saw Pan blush slightly, and a bit of color rose in Celira's face, also. No one else seemed to notice.

"Take us there."

Pan sighed, and looked around a small cavern inside of the cave... her "room". There were so many, it was as confusing as Capsule Corperation's halls had been. She looked at her "door", a heavy, thick black curtain in the narrow entryway of her cavern. All the rooms were like this, with the exception of the adults having larger rooms. A lantern in the middle of the room... battery operated. Bulma-san had such things "just-in-case". The cave was where they had all decided to stay for the time being.

"Pan?" Bra's voice came from behind the "door".

Pan looked up. "Come on in, Bra," she said.

Bra pulled back on side of the curtain. "Kaasan wants a meeting. Something about hiding our ki so that guy doesn't find us. Also," she lowered her voice. "Marron and I need to tell you guys something. That guy you saw... he's not the only one after someone."

Pan nodded stiffly. "I'll be there in a minute."

Her friend nodded back. Her face was sympathetic. "Poor Pan-chan," she murmured as she made her way down a cavern "hallway".

"These wristbands should hide your kis, then that guy can't find us," Bulma explained, fastening a strange blue wristband on Goku's hand. Vejiita snorted. "Woman, there's no such thing."

She looked amused. "Oh, is that so? Goku-san, please turn SSJ3, and let's see if the Almighty Prince can detect your ki,"

Trunks and Goten started laughing as Vejiita strained his powers. He could feel everyone but Goku. He growled. "Fine, Woman. You actually did something useful."

Bulma rolled her eyes.

"We were attacked, too," Bra whispered, explaining about two guys that were after her and Marron like they were of Pan... only... from Pan's discription, Quinn had been the leader and unbeatably beautiful.

"They wore white suits?" Pan murmured.

Marron nodded. "Tey also wore that armor you described... only these two's armor wasn't silver."

"They were more dull gray, but they had a silver crest on each of them," Bra nodded.

When Pan didn't say anything, everyone turned to look at her. She had a distant, dreamy look in her eyes. It scared them.

"Pan?" Goten waved a hand in his neice's face. "Panny? Hello?"

Trunks stiffened. Quinn, he thought. He felt his ki rising, but no one else noticed. Apparently Bulma's wristbands worked quite well.

"Pan!" Bra slapped her friend across the face. Pan looked at her, startled, shocked, and angry.

"Gomen, but you were way out of it," Bra explained.

Pan blushed. "Gomen," she muttered.

Gohan looked at his daughter, concerned. "Pan... are you okay?" Pan shrugged, her eyes getting that hazy, distant look again.

"Pan!" Bra said sharply, startling her friend.

"Gomen nasai," she mumbled.

Celira studied Pan's face for a moment, then said quietly, "He's that good, huh?"

She looked up, startled. She flushed and nodded tightly.

Marron looked horrified. "I... Pan... how... why?"

She shrugged, and her parents looked at her in horror.

Tears welled up in her eyes. "Maybe you'd understand if you were me and he was after you!" she yelled. Then she stood and tightly said, "If you'll excuse me, I'd like to not be seen for awhile." She turned and bolted down the cave to her "room".

***

"You've... always loved me?"

"Always," she murmured. "But... you've had so many girlfriends... I was begining to lose hope." She looked up, her black eyes pained. "So many girls... how many of them did you...?"

He glanced away, guilt written on his face. "I... never really wanted..." He took a deep breath. "Pan, I've always wanted you. Those girls... I don't know... Kaasan was worried about me, I was worried about my image... hanging out with Goten and not dating would seem kind of suspicious, wouldn't it?"

He turned back to her, his eyes shining with laughter.

She smiled. Kami, she had such a gorgeous smile...

"I understand..." she whispered. Then she looked away. "Although... I must admit... I'm not exactly... pure... myself."

Now he was confused. "Pan... are you...?"

She shook her head. "It happened awhile after Celira came... when we discovered the cave... I... we..."

He tried to choke down is disgust. "You and... Celira?"

She shrugged, guilt and pain filled her eyes. "It just... happened... I don't know!" she cried out in frustration.

He wrapped his arms around her waist. He rested his chin on her head, then softly said, "It's over; a long time ago. Unless you still have feelings... those feelings... for him, then stay with me."

She smiled at him again. "I love you," she murmured.

He tilted his head down to meet her lips in a passionate kiss...

***

Trunks at up in his bed. He frowned. "Damn it!" Then he lay back, thinking about his dream. "So close... we were so close... it was almost real..." he mused. He shut his eyes, grinning faintly. "I almost wish it was real..."

"Hey buddy!" Goten threw open Trunks curtain and walked in, grinning like the idiot he was.

"Goten! For Kami's sake, you're supposed to ask before coming in!" Trunks said in annoyance.

Goten grinned. "I just had the best dream," he said, ignoring Trunks' annoyed tone.

"Oh, really?" Trunks said, sitting up.

His friend nodded. "I kissed an angel," he said solemnly.

Trunks laughed. "Our dreams must be similar, then."

Goten snickered. "Marron?"

Trunks thwapped him with his pillow. "You know it's not Marron!"

The demi-Saiya-jin descended from Goku smiled his trademark Son grin. "Yeah. But Gohan'll kill you."

Trunks shrugged. "I'm not afraid of Gohan... much." Then he grinned wickedly. "But you should be afraid of my tousan."

Goten shuddered. "Yeah... I am... man, the angel of my dreams just had to be related to the most cruel family in the universe."

Trunks snorted. "And the one I love just had to be related to a couple of idiots; her uncle and grandfathers."

"Hey," Goten whined. "I'm not an idiot."

"You're right... you're a dumb-ass," Trunks dodged Goten's attempt to punch him.

Goten sighed. "When the heck are we gonna be brave enough to tell the girls how we feel?"

"You'll see in your dreams," a quiet, familiar voice said from behind them.

"Celira?"

Celira gave Trunks a look. "We're dreaming of the future," he said quietly.

Trunks felt chills run down his spine. "Nani?"

Celira lowered his eyes to the floor. "Trunks... you dreamed of Pan. You dreamed of the future... and I can't let you do that."

Trunks stood, angry. "You mean my dream of Pan confesseing you slept with her is true?! You really slept with her?!"

Celira shot a glance at Trunks, and suddenly everything faded into blackness.

"You thought you could hide?" an amused voice crept into Pan's dreams.

"Ugh..." she sat up, still groggy and dazed from sleep. When she laid her eyes on the figure in her room, she immediatly focused.

"Oh, Kami... no..." she whispered.

Quinn reached out and grabbed her upper arm. "Pan-chan... my angel..."

"Stop it..."

Quinn yanked her our from the covers. His eyes roamed appreciatively over her body. "You are beautiful... no matter what."

Pan flushed. She was wearing a short, light flowing nightgown. Red, flowing, but showed what curves she had.

She jerked her arm away. "Stop staring at me! And quit calling me that!" she whispered loudly, her voice trembling.

The vampire looked at her, amusement and admiration clear in his eyes. "How can I stop? You're so beautiful. And Pan-chan suits you, my dear angel." He moved swiftly and was in front of her. She felt him grab her hand. "Do you know what I can give you?" he asked, his voice soft, mesmerizing. "Anything... name anything, and it is yours..." He stared into her eyes.

"Don't you want anything you could have?" he asked.

Pan trembled. "If I could have anything..."

"Anything..." he whispered in her ear.

"...then I'd want my family. My friends."

Quinn shrugged. "You could have it."

Pan looked at him dead in the eye. "I'd want Trunks," she said softly.

"Like I said-"

"That's not what I mean!" she cut him off abruptly, her lip quivering. "If I came with you, I wouldn't get the one thing I want! I want the person I love!"

He glared down at her. "I'll be with you. There's no one else you could possibly love."

She glared back at him. "You wouldn't give me Trunks... because I love Trunks," she said through clenched teeth.

Quinn laughed. "And you can never have Trunks. He is way out of your league; age difference, personality, that little brother-sister thing... do you really think he could possibly have feelings for you?"

Pan choked on a sob. "I... he must! I love him too much!" she yelled.

Quinn threw her back onto the bed. Pan scrambled to cover her body. He shook his head. "Such a shame... hiding such a beautiful body." His eyes darkened.

"I warned you... now I'm taking someone you love..."

"No!" Pan cried. "Don't! This... it's only between us two!" Quinn shook his head. "It involves everyone... and I can assure you, since Trunks stands in my way, he'll be the first to die."

Then he did that disappearing thing again. Pan blinked and he was gone.

ChiChi awoke. She'd fallen asleep... where was Goku? She frowned. Probably eating or sparring with Vejiita again. She sighed. This was hard on all of them...

Her thoughts were cut off abruptly as a flap of cloth sounded behind her.

"Goku?" she said aloud, turning.

The only thing she could think of was, That's him... the one after Pan... oh, Kami, she was right... he's come for me...

***

Something was wrong.

Goku felt it instinctively. Vejiita punched him in the face as he paused.

"Kakarotto, pay attention!" Vejiita yelled.

"There's... something's wrong..." Goku muttered, standing up.

"Yeah, and I know what it is," Vejiita said sarcasticaly. "You can't smell the food your mate should be making."

"It's not just that..." Goku insisted, then broke off. His eyes widened.

"ChiChi!" He ran down the cave until he reached his cavern. He threw open the curtain...

The sheets were messed up. There were jagged burn marks on the ground... in a perfect circle. Two people could stand in it...

Goku realized what had happened. They got ChiChi, he realized. He screamed her name, feeling helpless for the first time in his life. He kept yelling, not beleiving anything that was happening. But it happened. It was all true. Quinn was hunting them, stalking them all.

And ChiChi was his first victim.
